Hey y'all, I'm back with another video and today's discussion is about whether the Nikon z6 or z7 is better for landscape photography. This discussion revolves around the megapixel discussion and whether or not you need 45 megapixels for landscape photography. Usually photographers will tend to gravitate towards the Z7 for landscape photography with its higher megapixel count, but I've been using my Z6 for quite some time and it's done a great job. So feel free to watch the video and stay tuned for more videos. Anyways, thanks for watching and if you enjoyed the video please rate, comment, and subscribe for more content.

And what about the cropping-argument? If I would get a z7/Z7II the only reason would be that I were able to crop more my images: Zooming by cropping! Apart from that I agree with you: 24MP are more than enough in practice, I remember the time when I was very happy with my 12MP Nikon D700 ...

Good video, you make some valid points. I do have both but for landscapes I prefer the ISO 64 and lack of AA filter in the Z7 which delivers much crisper, higher dynamic range and detailed images than the Z6ii IMO.

Most cameras today don't have the AA filter,t last several Pentax cameras like the Pentax Kp, K3 models and K1 MKII and many other like Fujifilm, Panasonic and so on have eliminated the AA filter. 9:44

The only advantage of the Z6 over the Z7 is Price. The Z7 :
No Anti Alias Filter = better Image Quality
ISO 64 = Better Image Quality
45 vs 24 M Pixel = Better image quality Detail in Shadows etc
Z6 is better at Video (But we are talking Landscape)
Make mine a Z7 and that is what I did as I love Landscape photography

Well, if we're going to be more specific:
No AA-filter = slightly better sharpness
      ISO64 = a bit more dynamic range
45MP vs 24MP = better for large prints and/or you can do heavier cropping, else it's of no benefit
So yes, the Z7 can be beneficial for landscape photography, especially because of ISO64. The Z6 will of course still be excellent for landscape as well. It just comes down to needs and preferences.
Else as always the lens(es) matters more for image quality.

Not only the price; what about high iso performance? Z6 is one of the best camera ever for night landscape!

And Z7 is more noisy at higher ISO

Most cameras today don't have the AA filter, it is not a feature only found on the Nikon Z 7,many of my newer Pentax DSLR's have done away with it.

your correct... but, photo quality, Z7 and D850 are head to head. I use both and for me , for the moment, D850 wins for the battery life and cool temperature.... never let me down.. I had some issue with the Z7 in cool temperature.

Interested to know what issues you experienced with the Z7 in cool temperatures and what those temperatures were? I’m aware battery life becomes an issue in cold temperatures, but that’s not Z7 specific.

I always love coming across nikon users! I'm glad I came across your video! Looking forward to seeing more! Nice video! I have a z7 and love it! I had the d850 when I was doing landscape!

I picked up a refurbished Z6 from Nikon USA and 24-200 will tell after Christmas since my wife wrapped them up. She wants my z50 so I will be doing comparisons how much better the FX is than DX.

Great topic for me as I decide between the two. I have a great 40x60 print from a 24mp camera using a Sigma 70 2.8 lens. Even looks good viewed close. I get terrific 13x19 prints from my Pixel 3. Your point is a good one and makes me think the Z6 may be right for me. Also need $ for an xqd card and adapter and z lens

Can you really not see the difference at full screen size between images from the Z6 and Z7 (few non-pros print photos anymore)? I think I can, I think the Z7 images usually look more detailed and I like them better. But I often find it hard to tell Z6 and Z50 images apart. So I think pixel count does still matter.

Nice breakdown looking to get the olpf removed on my z6 to provide similar detail like the legendary d750 or getting a z7 used as the price has dipped in 2023

Just buy a z7, the cost to get the AA filter removed simply isn't worth it for such a negligible difference in image quality.

bottom line for me (cost is not a factor for my usage btw)...... if the glass is the SAME (high quality and sharp, etc), which one has better DR and by how much ? let's see the testing ...PLEASE most everyone will say the Z7 has more, but i've yet to see anyone test this to determine how MUCH more DR it has

Good video to dispel the myth of MP. In my honest opinion it's worth investing your hard earned money on good fast lenses rather than blowing it away on higher MP Bodies...
