Been 24/7 livestreaming non-stop since 2020...from using my own machine to vitural server . Having the virtual server was great except for the limitations. As for the audience...it's two different crowds thats for sure. My 24/7 crowd doesnt always make it to my "non-live" videos. I get it...it's hard to watch someone yapping away when you are used to the watching an erupting volcano live or viewing a earthquake swarm live. Good video Michael. Always like your take on educating those looking for way to better their channels. Aloha
love it. I've been thinking about doing this too. reminds me of after the late late night shows end, the infomercials play until morning. when i'm not live i'll just let my personal infomercial run till I get back online 🤔
You can do a search for server space and find all sorts of cheap options. its really a product of how much it takes to run a smooth instance of OBS and VLC tht just encodes simple videos and streams them. Since you probably have to use X264 for the encoding it could be more overhead to get a smoth stream than I am thinking, but if the videos are all optimized it shouldnt be much for OBS to encode an X264 stream and server bandwith going up is pretty much infinate, or at least way more than a stream like this would require.
Unfortunately, it won't work like this, you need to keep your PC on all the time. If you don't want to keep your machine on, you can try something like Livereacting
can you make a video about buying/renting server space? I would love to start a 24 hour live stream but I cannot give up my computer 24/7 lol. I would love to see the steps and recommendations to set this up as I've never rented server space. $20 seems more than fair to run
This is a great ideas for growing the audience! Thanks Michael for the great info, questions: can this be done on Facebook? What if I want to stream 3 days a week, is there a setup for it? Hop to hear from you, I always learn new things from your content, much appreciated you ❤

Nice video. I am just wondering how stable this would actually be as a 24/7 service, since OBS is software running in a desktop environment, i think running a web service type system might provide further stability, and could probably perform better on a lower powered system. Especially if someone is going to keep it on / running 24/7 365 days a year.

Help! I uploaded a video to live stream tomorrow night. I can see the video play on OBS but can't hear the audio on OBS. In the audio mixer, I dont see desktop or desktop audio working, however, in media source 2, I see the audio bar moving. Does this mean the audio will broadcast when I turn on the streaming?
@@MichaelFeyrerJr Thank you you are awesome! I just saw this in one of your other videos. However, to hear in "monitor", I think that is only via headphones connected to the laptop? @@LevityMusings-cv4hn That is dependent on what you have set as your monitor in settings. However it should always be headphones because if you use a speaker it will feed back in through your microphone and couse an echo.
Hello Michael, could you please advise why the streaming after 24+ hours OBS is lagging. The only helping if i am restarting the OBS. Same time PC is working properly. Thanks
Thanks for content. I have a question that I can't find any answer for that anywhere. I have a7slll and I want recording with that in OBS with 4K 60FPS, but OBS just let me select preset for that maximum 1980*1080 and not more. why I can't find 3840x2160 option for that? in other hand I have DJI osmo pocket 3 and with that I have 3840x2160 but maximum in 30 FPS :)) . how can I have 4k in My Sony Camera in OBS ? I use iMac and I connect my camera to OBS with USB C and it works well. Thanks you

You can stream for more than 12 hours, but the restriction is that UA-cam doesn't save the video, so users cannot watch it after the stream has finished.
Very, very nice, Michael! Having watched a few of this kind of 24/7 stream on other channels I wondered if and how I could do it too. however, I now have a great fear of seeing a 24/7 livestream of Carl the Cat
I tried once doing the live stream with a video playing over and over looping it on StreamYard and my audience was like, "when are you coming on, Robin??" I couldn't get away with it lol but I might try it again with this little trick. Thanks so much for sharing!

interesting. What is your hardware and software setup for your 24/7 stream?
What virtual server did you use?
I'd be curious what vps did you use for it?
I could see this being useful as an indie game developer for having content running all day on launch day.
For sure
