    I am so glad I found your channel. I have never known what I wanted to do in my life. Not only am I inspired in UX in general but I realized where my strengths are with a social science back ground. Research is where I really want to strive and grow. I can not thank you enough for this content.

    Great content! My take away is that as researchers we need to find our ways to work more closely and actively with designers to make sure the insights can be successfully communicated so that research can inform the design.

    Great interview. Most orgs (at least in Canada) can't afford / don't see value in both a UX researcher and designer (they will hire 2 designers or 2 researchers). Would be great if you can bring someone on that straddles both of those. I do that role here in Canada and am curious to hear from others doing this. Cheers!

    amazing content! Thank you!
    Would be amazing to ask to show some of their projects and go through all of that and ask specific questions and visually show us what he is talking about rather than hear common phrases like " be open-minded and curious". And it's good to see faces, but better focus on content, I mean by that: you can record something about 75% of what he mean + design trick like little motion or fancy pictures from behance or dribble and than jump to face and go back, so dont be static, hope you can take advice or critic)

    Where can you find good case study?
    There are so many out there, but
    I feel like when you are so new to the field, it is hard to even tell if you are reading a good case study.
    Is there a way you can tell if a case study is good or not?

    What if there’s no way to get participants for user testing your product? What alternative solutions can one try in order to gain user feedback

    • @zerotoux
      @zerotoux  5 років тому +7

      Are they difficult to recruit? Or a matter of no bandwidth to get them?
      There are usually ways to get participants to give feedback because the product should be built with users in mind.
      One can ask employees at your company not in the design or engineering department, maybe HR. Ask friends of friends, family, and ask them to pass it along, post on forums, hire a vendor - get scrappy with it!
      Otherwise, you can do heuristic evaluations or cognitive walkthroughs with people..not ideal, but gives you at least some feedback.

    Think outside of the box and come up with new research methods! That is awesome advice. I am going to take a data analysis course on Edx.org (I highly recommend for online courses and certification) to get better at my research skills.

    • @zerotoux
      @zerotoux  4 роки тому

      Awesome!! Absolutely good advice. And to do so we have to think innovatively, take inspiration from different industries.
      I haven't taken any from EDX but I've heard good things too. I do recommend the Interaction Design Foundation courses!

    Hey Kevin, Curious to know how you made this video? Was it a regular skype call between you guys or was it a video call from your phone? I have a YT channel myself and wanted to do a similar talk with someone in a different location. Would appreciate if you can share behind the scene video/software/equipment.

    • @zerotoux
      @zerotoux  4 роки тому +4

      Hey! I used Google Hangouts for our call, but you can use Skype, too.
      For screen recording, I used Camtasia Studio and recorded my friend's fixed window, while also capturing my own webcam footage with the system audio. The toughest part was getting good audio from his side, because I messed up, but just play around with the settings first. I believe most video editing or recording software can let you do this.
