What helps me is that work space not only has to be organized, but beautiful and inspiring. That helps to make you want to continue working in that space.
When I found Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, I found that I was playing it almost all of the time; I would get home from work, start playing until bed time. I would get up, shower, go to work and then come home and play Daggerfall. I realized that this was not going to really get me anywhere, so I made a list of things I wanted to do and told myself that I couldn't play Daggerfall until I had done one thing (or made some progress on one thing). Suddenly, I was accomplishing a lot of things until, one day, I had only one thing left on the list: apply to graduate school...
@@Wolficefang Oh God no. I had graduated with my bachelor's and was working a pretty well- paying job and Morrowind came out... which inspired me to buy an Xbox...fortunately, I had enough momentum and discipline by then-- and the game was so much smaller-- that I was able to exercise a modicum of self-control, only playing a few hours a day.
I really liked your second tip a lot. Perhaps it has been problem for me to start off... But now i found a good solution. Whenever i feel too lazy or hesitate to start off, i will set a timer for 20 min. No matter if i take break after that... At least i started off, which won't build up my stress further and help me to sit again.. THANK YOU
Watching one of your videos is on my to do list every morning. Super inspiring, very easy to understand and focus on. 5-6 min in the morning and you have that boost for productive day. Thanks again for sharing your knowledges
i hate that these videos don't usually get a ton of views compared to your subscribers. i mean maybe they subbed a while ago and finally broke their youtube addiction so they don't watch these anymore and do things themselves. that's the thing i'm hoping.
Procrastinating is not laziness, as long as you get the things done procrastinating is totally fine. Some people work best with some last moment stress.
No, I disagree. Procrastination is a curse. You can put stuff off indefinitely or only do the thing you need to do when you can no longer ignore it. I like the idea in one of his other videos of just doing something for 5 mins. For me, 5 mins would be better than avoiding it all together.
I actually got up out of my couch and did my drum exercises the washing up folded the clean laundry made t a birthday card got a medical file together and got an outfit ready for tomorrow morning so I would not be late again thank you so much I have put this video in my WhatsApp and email file
laziness is hard for me to overcome because i dont have a goal or anything i simply dont care about anything even if i try and do my work for 5 minutes i´ll probably fall random asleep or be distracted really fast i also have an unhealthy addiction to my phone and laptop im trying to stop it and enjoy life but its seems impossible im also getting tired extremely fast i really dont know what do to
I'm a mix of the 2 types of lazy. My job is very mentally draining plus I'm in school and away from home 3 nights a week for 14 hours, plus the occasional weekend shift. The days I get home after work at a normal time, I'm just so tired I don't want to do anything.
Thank u for this. This is the first video about this that has actually been speaking directly to me about the feeling that I have of all my laziness I honestly have not felt like anyone else gets it until I heard you explaining that sensation of laziness I’ve never heard it called laziness before. Just the inability to start things, but it does it boils down to not having the energy to start and I think that it is because I have sleep deprivation. Is that some thing that you deal with as well I don’t know if the sleep deprivation is the cause of my ADHD, or if the ADHD is the cause of the sleep problems.
Yeah prepare for the task by setting aside all required materials to do that thing, it's less likely to be forgotten about if it's all set up to complete.
I agree laziness is a habit. To beat it I say to myself that I will work only for one pomodoro sesion. You are right the hardest part of any task is getting started. Than the momentum will keep you moving. I have a question: how do you divide a task in simple small steps? Only reducing the time I'll work on a task helps me to start, but it doesn't give me a sence of completion.
I do enjoy watching your videos and find them useful, mostly practical and always thought provoking. However, it is interesting that in this video your advice is to acquire an "Accountability Partner" to remind you of what you have said you will do. BUT in your video "Never Tell People Your Goals" your advice is "NEVER Tell People Your Goals - Or You Won't Achieve Them ". Please can you explain what seems to be a contradiction here? Many thanks and please keep up the good work.
@@mickypoo4622 I am not the OP, I just responded with my own take from the two videos. I am not making them. I don't have an accountability partner but if I did, I would tell them "I want to read a book for 30 minutes every day" and "I want to work on an independent project for 30 minutes every day"... something like that so that they could ask me if I did follow those times every day or week...
Problem is, getting things done just feels okay, like going for a walk, not amazing. Nowhere near as good as discovering a new movie/tv show or eating a pizza. Even though my laziness is ruining my life and has caused me massive stress since childhood.
Today, I really wanted to start doing this, but then my lower back started hurting... so what can I do?! I just orderd a big fat pizza and Im watching how will I change tomorrow. :D
MM not sure here Laziness sound like a judgement , we all need down time , iff there is resistance to something then look at that rather than trying to get rid of it. Ive worked at being lazy all my time. so now i do more than ever thats productive, but yet happy to do Nothing
Of course we all need time to relax. Nothing wrong with that. But it's important to know when you're slacking off and when you're resting. I already made a video on that topic, so if you're interested, feel free to check it out 😁 ua-cam.com/video/B2wPs4Bd6mg/v-deo.html
I disagree with you there's actually way more laziness then the two you just describe There's a laziness what are you don't describe the details Not always being honest that's also lazy Or just too lazy to listen to someone in general
When I am stressed, "to do" lists overwhelm me, so instead, I create a "have done" list and add things after I've done them. I find that helpful.
Haven't say this in a while. "Thank you UA-cam for recommending this video".
Glad you liked the video :)

I had that problem when Diablo 2 Came out. I eventually uninstalled the game and gave the discs to a friend. Felt like stopping drugs.
And then you had to drop out because Skyrim was released, right?

My motivation was getting higher and higher as I was watching this. Thank you kind sir
Your laziness only a illusion, your mind play tricks with you, remember this you are Master of yourself

The stress that comes from beating yourself up, for not doing anything, is the worst. Working on any project for any given time helps a lot!
Adam Del Duca
I have practically tried it and even implementing it now.
It actually does work.
A simple solution ,isn't it?
Well? Did you get anything accomplished?
Having a clean space changes everything

i love this channel so much
I would practice visualizing for 5 minutes to overcome laziness
Haynes Robert i totally forgot I used to do this, and it helped. Look at your desk and visualize it clean for a few minutes and then go at it
@@simonelastname5182 so the solution would be to vaguly visualize, and fill in the details as you go along
I love your videos. Complicated problems are simply explained . Thanks.
Thank you so much
Remind what you do and keep going on goals

Are you from Romania btw?
i only do my work and chores early so that i could relax and to stop people bothering me....
Wait, what’s the difference between a habit and a personality trait? Ehh, I’ll google the answer tomorrow.

I think in this case you tell your accountability partner about your daily tasks. Maybe not the overarching goal.

Look into "dopamine detox". That may be what you need to get the satisfaction that you're missing from accomplishment.
But it IS going to be easier tomorrow. You literally had an entire video covering this. Parkinson’s law????
Actully best thing to do is anger
