I've owned a 2022 Frontier Pro-4X for 6 months and I'm so happy with it. Not only does it do everything I need it to, it's rugged, comfortable, and such a looker!
I like the review (and turning radius is definitely the worst thing). But, as a 2022 frontier owner, I'm frustrated that off-road youtube reviewers don't understand the running boards. They're actually dual purpose rock rails with removable steps attached. If you're going to off-road this thing, take the steps off and the rock rail will help protect the truck without the loss of clearance.
They absolutely are not rock rails. They will crush and fold into your rocker panels if you drop over a substantial obstacle. True rock sliders will not.
@@Reaper337755 exactly. Just bought a 2023. Took the steps off because, well, they look bad. The "rock sliders" are mounted using very thin L brackets on each end. They are for looks only.

You can easily unscrew the steps for off road use also nismo has upgraded billstien leveling shocks & lightweight rims you may want to look at before swapping tires
Love this truck but the only thing I’d do is put the Fox shocks that the Tacoma has on the Frontier and also give it a two inch lift and it would be perfect!
@@MB-gd6be For me at 6' the Nissan was more comfortable over all. The interior fit and finish was better. The engine and transmission were a better combo for sure. The Tacoma always seemed to be struggling like it was constantly fighting a headwind with the transmission down shifting with even the slightest hill. Maybe the newer Tacoma with the turbo engine will be a better fit. In the end I bought a Ranger Tremor and couldn't be happier.
Stop complaining about the steps, get a torx bit and remove the screws and problem is gone. Eight screws for each step; approx. 45 minutes and I had mine removed the day after driving it home from the dealer. Place the screws back into the holes and all fixed. The rails the steps attached can also be removed; however, they do not reduce the clearance since they are above the bottom of the frame rails, and they will offer some protection, such as if sliding on a rock or down a slick rock trail in Moab. They are not heavy duty rock rails, nor are they designed to be, so slaming the body down on a rock with these will cause a big dent in them, but again some protection. If steps are needed get the flush type steps or grow taller. As for off-roading? My driveway is more of a challenge than that course you are on.
I like the frontier but the turning radius in that truck is horrible. I like how simple the truck is just put it in 4x4 and go. My full sized truck has a better turning radius then that truck does
Breakover angle on the frontier is terrible compared to the Tacoma. A Subaru crosstrek has a better breakover angle than the frontier. If you go off-roading, you need more clearance than what comes on this “offroad” trim.
This is a nice solid truck. Its new but still very old. The interior is very old looking and the back seats sit to upright. The added length should have corrected that known issue. @@JokerG16 it will also be the weakest truck. They tested the frontier against the tacoma and it was hardly any faster than a tacoma in an all out acceleration. KO2’s are almost $300 per tire before installation.
It's just money 🤷♂️😅
I've owned both KOs and Nitto Grappler G2s. It wasn't even close. Grapplers won hands down
Tacoma can still get a manual. Frontier?
Yes sir, I got one and love it! I aint gonna lie, I was tempted to buy a frontier and sell my taco, but I didn't because it doesn't come in a manual, but if Nissan comes out with a manual, I will be super tempted because the Frontier has better torque and HP, and then you add a manual, dayum! Auto industry is cut throat!
They are all going hybrid by 2024
Toyota tacoma trd pro is better
I’m tossed between the Frontier and the Colorado ZR2, both drive really well. Both are very aesthetically pleasing. Hard decisions! Tacomas are nice but 🤷🏻♂️
I have the 22 ZR2 and I’m also looking at one of these these. The interior on the ZR2 is ancient. MPG on the V6 is crap. Not sure if you care about any of that. I had to take my truck to dealer one week after purchase. Busted cv boot from the factory. Not sure if that is telling of the quality
Dude...do not walk. RUN from anything GM-made. Go with the Tacoma if you can but if it's only between those other two, take the Frontier, for God's sake.
Wait for 2023 Colorado or Canyons… they have amazing interiors, tech, and turbo charged engines with insane torque. I think they are going to hammer down on the competition
@@jseels They will be great trucks to lease for 3 years, then you can turn it in and get something else, so that truck becomes somebody else's problem 😅
@@jseelsturbos arent great in the cold and i mean snow is a huge offroad market. Also the 8speed gm transmissions are crap. Its litteraly called "the" GM jiggle. Apparently they even needed mobile1 to make a special oil for them just to work properly (sometimes) 🙄
CITY BOYS , BETTER KNOW AS YUPPIES !!!!!
Whoa. I haven't heard the term "yuppies" in at least 20 years 😐
