- Get off me Blade!?! Yes, as EDC folder go, this one is purpose driven, large, and devastatingly final! Very reminiscent of the Spyderco Civilian and Matriarch, this 4.25" beast is amazingly thin and lightweight for its size! Yup, it's been out a few years, but was beckoning me to add it to the arsenal of EDC tactical tools! Check it out!

Just got mine a few days ago, it is very comfortable to carry for the size. I also got the Snaggletooth mod for it.
I will always say that this is probably best self defance folder ever!
The espads xl is the largest CS folder
👍
Thats a wicked blade. Great video 👍
Great video review 👍!!! The strait edge is on my list of Cold Steel blades to get. Ive done alot of research on this model. Definitely a fight winner 🏆!
👍
The Black Talon 2 is Cold Steel giving Spyderco the middle finger. Showing they could fabricate a knife way better than Spyderco’s Civilian and/or Matriarch. Not an easy feat. Spyderco’s got some great models.
That Luzon is a folding sword. I’d be interested in picking one up if it was made with a decent steel. Great video, fantastic presentation like always!
👍🗡️👊
Wicked
11:33 Larger Cold Steel folder? Sure …ESPADA XL has a 7.5” blade. If you’re getting back into CS and like the ergos on the 4 Max Scout you might want to pick up a SR1 or SR1 Scout. Thanks for the review.
Thank! Got this one and others for the defined purpose and some novelty. I do have a Talwar. The Luzon is my largest CS. Back in the '80s I had many more, before they started going gigantic with the folders!
Have no idea how effective that design is, but it is fun.
Extremely so in the right application! 👍🗡️👊
I can reverse flick mine with a little wrist
Yep they do break in! This one's still a bit stiff and new.... 🗡️👍🗡️
Like the Civilian and Matriarch from Spyderco the Cold Steel Black Talon is a very effective defensive design. However, Cold Steel's serrations are like cheap kitchen knife serrations. Spyderedge Serrations are definitely superior to Cold Steel's. If I bought one I would get the plain edge Black Talon.
Thanks for your comments! I believe without some testing of the Spyderco serrations against Cold Steel's against various materials It wouldn't be possible to state that one is better than another. Yes there is a similarity in pattern of the cold steel serrations with many ground into common kitchen knives, but that shouldn't make them cheaper or less effective. In fact they may be more difficult to grind due to the rows of much smaller serrations which tend to rip and then cut in my experience... 👍
Plenty of footage of this thing going through meat like butter…why even say something so baseless? Dude called this a kitchen knife 😂
Pocket clip design is horrible.
It's tight but replacements are a thing of beauty! 👍🗡️👍
Great single purpose slasher I need the ability to thrust with a point, in order to have a more versatile tool. I would rather have the Tulwar. People who don't like dogs have never had one. People who don't like cold steel separations have never cut anything with it.
Right on! 👊🗡️👍
I have the Matriarch 2 which do you prefer?
I had the civilian but not the matriarch, so can't compare to this one, other than I believe it is larger than the other two. Certainly the triad lock is one of the strongest if that factors into the equation for you.....
@@OGBladeReviews I guess I’ll just have to purchase one and compare for myself. What a shame lol love Cold Steel 👌
I have all three, and prefer the Black Talon 2, and I prefer the Civilian over the Matriarch although the latter has the wave feature.
