I literally watched this video with 3 Xl voyagers in front of me and an XL counter point (absolutely did not plan it that way either lol) I just got then clip point voyager and XL counter point today so I had my other voyagers out messing around with them and I saw this video!! woooow what an awesome moment it is 🤙🏼🤙🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I appreciate that S35VN is a good steel, but I feel like a lot of the appeal of Cold Steel was the value. You got an amazingly durable beater knife that punched well above the price. But now, a lot of the Cold Steel line are premium knives. Not only does it raise the price significantly, but who wants to buy a premium knife and go to town on it cutting up carpets, prying crates open, digging out nails, and generally scratching and chipping an S35VN blade? AUS-8A? Sure, use it as a makeshift hammer, stab bricks with it, whatever. I always saw Cold Steel as the everyman's worker knife, but now they're creeping into the knife-nerd collectable tier.
Yeah, and s35vn is actually WORSE for a true use and abuse knife.
I carried C.S in Iraq and a few other shit holes. A 6 in tri light. And a recon folder and recon straight blade. They never let me down.
Now I use a Luzon 6 inch for my EDC or a CRKT fossil, I am now in Philippines where even a swiss army knife will get you in trouble with the law.
I started carrying C.S in the 90s. I rember all the haters back then... Great blades.

Great collection. I have many XL Cold Steels. Seeing what they're charging for them now makes me very glad to have purchased most of mine around 2013. I think i got my Talwar XL for 70 bucks. I'd love a new version but there's no way im paying 4x as much.
Question, who else is making reasonably priced folding knives with 6” to 7.5” blades? I thought Cold Steel was the only real game in town.
Even with others, the triad lock is the reason to buy cold steel for that size knives.

Awesome collection. Happy I was able to also collect Cold Steel blades for years. First was a late 80’s Trail Master which became my user to save my gifted Rambo 1 & 2 knives. While I see Old Stock of Cold Steel $100+ knives at reasonable price’s it seems like any new release knives are way overpriced to me...
I believe you mistakenly said that the Espada XL has a 9.5 inch blade. It is actually 7.5 inches.
I carry the voyager clip point every day. I mostly use it for opening boxes at work but it's there of I ever need it. I also have the original cold steel tanto large and small. Ventura, California markings on both. They stay at home in the collection. I got those back in senior year of high school because I saw the add of Lynn stabbing through a car door and hood. That was a cool marketing scheme. nice collection you have there.
2:41. That is a Ti Lite 6 not 4 , I know because I have the 4 & 6 and the 6 is the one with the 6" or six inch blade 💯⚔️💯
You gotta start making defense style knives , the humting & camping stuff is great but the defense and combat knives are blade you pass down for generations 💪
I have this knife. Mine doesn't have the liner lock problem. However, that damn thing has cut me many times, because it opens in my pocket. Cold Steel needs to put a stronger spring on it. Maybe my spring is just worn out from flicking it open about 300 times. I can't trust carrying it anymore.
The XL Espada can be had for 150 range Midway etc
4-max elite all day for me. It's big but perfectly utilitarian, people who liken this to carrying something more wild like an espada xl or whatever praetorian knife don't know. This knife is in my pocket every day in the pocket below my benchmade 945 for harder cutting tasks at work like cutting flooring in a hospital I'm building. Fresh razors tremble, I need more weight than my trusty 945 can offer, 4-max handles business. I bought two.
I got three of the XL pocket swords for $128/per on amazon…because why not?
Perfect for the zombie apocalypse, defending yourself from car hoods etc.
Added bonus - after Taiwan size to exist, they will be collectible just like gold or beanie babies.

Nice ive. Had the measure of getting to hang out with Mr Thompson Mr Lynn Thompson of Cold Steel Knives I actually got to have a beer with him awesome guy real nice down to earth talk your ear off you feel at them and loves showing you how many weapons he can carry on him and the let me tell you he doesn't need a weapon I mean the man is serious when it comes to defense just with his fingers but he had he had two subcompacts a 40 and 9 he had a 357 he had a 454 under the shoulder in about 7 I was on them and that's like his everyday carry witches you know Overkill I get it and I'm sure you do too but I like some of his knives too I my one of my everyday carries is the XL Raja 2 and it has the you know the pocket opening you know like it's similar to the Emerson wave I think they were one of the first to come up with the idea of putting a natural hook so when you pull the folder from your pocket the hook hooks on your pocket and opens the knife very fast which was really cool the selling point for me I have both sizes and the rajah in a few others products I have enjoyed them and they've worked quite well in my experience

If it doesn't say AUS10A on the blade it not it very likely AUS8A,. definitely AUS8a. At that time they didn't put the still grade on most blades. 😎‼️😎
I have a question. I bought the Espada xl and the wave feature fell of and was lost while carrying. I can't seem to find that part and the new company doesn't have a replacement. I can flip it open pretty fast. How would you solve this problem? Thanks I'm advance.

Dude i love your channel and all your reviews. I prefer the Hold-OUT 3 in aus8 because i just cant justify spending 120$ for s35vn when i paid 40$ or less for my old one that ive had for 15yrs in aus8 and i ended up using it for utility work intended for a back-up. But anyway its held up great. I think without Lynn Cold Steel has kinda went downhill seeing mostly everything coming out of China and the heat treatments are hit or miss.

Good overview of Cold Steel's folders; I was surprised you did not have the Immortal as it was unique. I don't have it either as I was hoping for a 6 inch version. Thanks for the video.
I have to agree that a 6" version would have been great. I purchased one last year and once I got it, it looked "off" to me. The blade seemed too short for handle. Took out of the collection the last couple weeks and have been carrying it as an EDC. Carrying the Immortal, I started to really like the knife. It's not heavy, carries nice and low in pocket, the lanyard hole is actually the proper size if you use one. The handle is really nice, got just enough grip without chewing apart my jeans, overall I am impressed with the knife once I started carrying it. We can only hope for a larger one.

I've Purchased the Spartan recently because I like the look, but I doubt It'll find the use my Cold Steel Mini Recon does.
I'm a Cook and I use the Tanto to Puncture the steel Oil barrels to get all the Oil out of below the Spigot line, Sinks thru the Steel like Butter.
