Don’t know if many people know this, but another reason why x2 has more DPS is because of how Banshee’s Wail stadk. A lot of people think you want to get to 9 stacks before heavy attacking, however, the first two damage numbers in each revved attack stay constant, the last number is affected by the Banshee’s Wail stacks. It is also worth mentioning that more than 3 revved attacks in a single combination will cause the final number in each revved attack to slowly lose damage. selFu made a video on Lament so if you don’t understand this watch his it explains everything
As of Lightfall, lament is fine. Lucent got changed but the charge rate stays. However, swords in general take a slight drop due to lucent blade no longer being 1.35x. edit 2: Crota has a 35% buff to sword damage lmfao, I guess you’re using lament now. I’ve tested Bequest, and tested Goldtusk in somewhat optimal scenarios, and here’s what i found: - Bequest is SUPER inconsistent on crota. Surrounded procs like 40% of the time it’s really annoying. Use it if your team is stacked & leaves every ad alive, but i wouldn’t use it otherwise. - Goldtusk with Whirlwind Blade is actually pretty decent. On crota, the most consistent combo for high damage was starting with a heavy, then 3L & 1H, repeating that cycle. It’s actually better than lament on average, so if you’re in hunter, use that. - Cap your frames at ~60 or lower if possible during dps on crota, especially with Lament. Tracking is god awful otherwise.
Idk y they nerfed lucent blade. Most ppl in most situations (within the more meaningful content) still just used linears or rockets even before the lucent change. Very unfortunate
@@Iseethegap your right I use solar now after the rework every kill gets me 12 seconds of restoration plus using melee becoming radiant is so much extra damage
it definitely is useful if you’re running Lament, as the DPS of the sword is entirely based on charge time(since, you can’t do the optimal combo without it).
@@fartloud285 also as something extra, after the initial 5-1, youcan go right into the 2-1-2, just start it as if you finished the combo and you were waiting for charge. 2 light swings, then block and go from there doing the 5 swings after heavy is a waste of time
Question - Do you have to hold block while youre doing the revved attacks or do you release it right before the combo or after youve started the combo?
generally I hold block during combos to be safe, not sure if it makes a difference or not. IIRC you don’t NEED to hold block, but having my finger near there helps me to block immediately after the 2nd light more efficiently, so i keep it there.
i didn’t test it in this video, but 3-1-2 IS worse because you have to wait in between your 2nd light vs the 2-1-2 where you can keep damaging the entire phase. They are pretty close though, so if you want to do that if you’re less comfortable with sword DPS, you will be completely fine.
when you block with lament it activates the exotic trait, which increases damage for each attack you do, up to 9x. So, you block to maximize damage on lament specifically. Feel free to ask any more question
@@SadFace_ Oooh thats what it means by rev I see, I would not have put that together lol, Does the buff have a duration or is it based on how long you block for or is it just the next up to 9 attacks, thanks for response!
mentioned this in another comment but TLDR, because you have downtime in your combo it is *slightly* worse than 2-1-2, but they’re close so use whatever you’re most comfortable with. If you don’t want to run Lucent(you only need x1 for it to work), then 3-1-2 is fine.
yeah i will agree that the video is poorly structured. There’s no timestamps(my fault), and I was off-script for pretty much 100% of the video. I didn’t really want to re-record so that’s why i’m rambling a lot. Next time i do a long-form(probably a rocket video?) I’ll make it a lot better. Appreciate the feedback, though.
@@Heroiixz honestly i have no fucking idea how to sword block on controller, but i can write the inputs and you can kinda fill it in: block, light 5x, heavy, light 2x, block, light 2x, heavy, repeat from step 4
@PeterMorgan-dh9wf same. Just played w guy who did 8 million damage to crota w his lament build...I was like damn. So grinded all night for the lament 😹

I saw a video that said to always start 4-1-5 then go to 2-1-2.
the 5 lights after the 4-1 is just a waste of time, after the 4-1 just go into the 2-1-2

Lament and stronghold is the strongest pairing no other class has this amount of survivability plus mods one could become a wall.
Still to this day. Add behemoth & your good to go bro

Gold tusk hunter does more damage consistently and is way easier to use the combo.
Wow I did not know this. Thanks for making this video!
First video that actually explains what noone else was explaining. Thank you.
Is Lucent Blade worth the use?
I don't use it but I thought it could be useful for DPS phases like Riven or Gahlran

So 5-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2..?
Wonder if at some point I want to only do 2-1... Or would it be called 2-1-0 in that case?
yes something like that.
If you only wanted to do 2-1 and then waited for charge that would just be 2-1-0 yeah.
@SadFace_ Something I notice when I attempt it however is... I can't cancel any light attack into a block. What gives?
@@JoelHernandez-tz3vk it only cancels if it’s the 2nd or 5th swing of the sword
@@SadFace_ The thing is that even those I fail to cancel.
so basically 5-1-5 then 2-1-2 for riven?
yes this is what i would do 👍
if you have curses/blessings you will probably do ~750k in a phase, if not you should do ~600k not including a super

I love using lament! My favorites exotic heavy especially the ornament logic! My hunter is guts inspired from beserk anime.

@SadFace_ fair enough, thanks for the response! I always hold block as well, to be safe, but I've always wondered if it makes any difference

Thanks for the Vod, New Player here, just got my lament about 10 minutes ago. I'm just curious why you need to block in between combos

@@TheRealDigitalDecaf no duration, just resets whenever you do a heavy attack or stop blocking.
I don't know if you know! but you can do up to 14 light and 1 heavy! but it only stack 9 light and 1 heavy ;)
