Please check out Jackie Wilson “Work Out”. Jackie was praised for his dance moves he taught to Elvis, and who Michael Jackson credited for his early moves.
Fabulous song!! Great suggestion.
Hell yeah
I also love Lonely Teardrops. My first song IO heard from him and played it over and over again on my little suitcase record player.
Elvis sucks!
I've been stuck in the hospital for a month. Everyday you guys review a song my day brightens. THANK YOU
Did anybody else notice the gum chewing contest while he is singing this amazing song! 😂
The gum company sponsored the show.. so yeah it’s product placement

Frankie Lymon such a sad story... But they did a movie about his life called, Why do fools fall in love; which will share all the pitfalls...
no lol that movie is ass
The LEGENDARY Iconic Mr Frankie Lymon ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When he died Frankie Lyman had a boatload of wives that didnt even know about each other all trying to get his estate, they made a movie about it called why do fools fall in love, starring Halle Berry and Viveca Fox you should check it out!
Little Bitty Pretty One from 1957 was written and originally recorded by Bobby Day. The song was popularized by Thurston Harris who recorded the best known version the same year.
A lot of artists recorded versions of each others songs in the early days. But the best version is Thurston Harris.
Yes do a reaction to the Bobby day one please!!!!!
the first MJ with the Arnold's physic ! that was music, une belle époque
This guy was so awesome!!! I was so young (12) when I heard him sing this song on American Bandstand....good olde music!!
Lymon's troubles extended to others after his death. After Diana Ross returned "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" to the Top Ten in 1981, a major controversy concerning Lymon's estate ensued. Zola Taylor, Elizabeth Waters and Emira Eagle each approached Morris Levy, the music impresario who retained possession of Lymon's copyrights and his royalties, claiming to be Lymon's rightful widow; Lymon had neglected to divorce any of them. The complex issue resulted in lawsuits and counter-lawsuits, and in 1986 the first of several court cases concerning the ownership of Lymon's estate began.
Best to watch the movie why do fools fall in love....starred cast. Larenz Tate Halle Berry Vivica Fox Lionel Richie just to name a few
I heard Frankie was murdered
The 1998 biopic movie is named after his hit song "Why Do Fools Fall in Love"
It tells a comedic, fictionalized version of Lymon's story from the points of view of his three wives as they battle in court for the rights to his estate.
The film stars Larenz Tate as Frankie Lymon, Halle Berry as Zola Taylor, Vivica A. Fox as Elizabeth Waters and Lela Rochon as Emira Eagle.
I forgot about this movie, it was great!
Ayyy this song is lit!!! Another song by Frankie Lymon is Goodie Goodie
I haven't heard this one in forever! Thanks for doing all these great oldies!
He has the most infectious smile, hes so awesome!
This was good , but you need to check out the best and best known version. Thurston Harris , Little Bitty Pretty One . It’s the best one !

Love it, great song great performance super voice
All good!!
I used to sing this in a band, you are stepping right into the late fifties, this was the way it was, kids behaved, shy to have the camera on them but grooving to the music, great reactions!
The 50s was an amazing time for music
America lead the world in so many different forms of music
I have this on my playlist 😂 l just be dancing and cleaning or whatever I'm doing dancing my butt off😘😘😘😘😘
Always loved this song!!! If you don't move to this one, you might be dead. LOL 💃 🕺
Little Frankie Lyman had some awesome music and was very young when he started.
he was17 or maybe 18 i believe when this song was a hit i'm assuming that's when he would be performing it on Band Stand. I think it was suppose to be 1960.. and yeah he died at 25 in 1968 he had been using according to him since he was 15 went through rehab of the day not too long after this video i think but fell back into it again till early 1968
Thurston Harris turned "Little Bitty Pretty One" into a top ten hit in 1957. Bobby Day ("Rockin' Robin") wrote the song. Frankie Lymon released his version in 1960 after he went solo. Clyde McPhatter also released a version of the song in 1962 long after he left The Drifters. The Jackson 5 also released a version of the song in 1972, but they only gave Michael two passages in the song to sing when they should have given him most of them, imo.
I think it was intentional with the Jackson Five version. It was an orchestrated build up to Michael's higher range. The bass track isn't bad either.
What a voice!
In 1957-58, when Frankie was about 16, he aged 20 years -- fast living, women twice his age everywhere, and drugs.
Wow what a legend
Such a fun song!!! Plus you gotta love the arrangement. So fun!! And he is a great singer.
love this musical era!
When he sang Why do fools fall in love?, he was only thirteen, unfortunately he died in 1969 at the age of 23 .Frankie Lymon left us too early but what a talent he was.
25
1968
Seek out a wonderful song from way back titled "Black Pearl", A man telling a girl she's precious and he will cherish her.
Those girls sure loved their gum!
I think it was an advertisement for the gum that’s why they pretty much all had gum.
His voice was Amazing
Audience looks stoned out they minds!
Must have something in the gum they were all chewing.
I’ve heard this song before but I never knew who did it.
This song has been recorded by more than one artist. So you may have heard this version or the one by the Jackson 5ive or the original artist, Thurston Harris.
He was such an awesome talent and so cute with that huge smile. Lost him way too soon. God bless him. Did the jitterbug to this one!!!
I have not seen one reactor react to Jackie Wilson. He was a legend.
You can see they they looking at each other to get approval and others were shocked they thought the singer was white
Lol too bad for them I guess, it's weird to think people like that might still be around today
Yeah that was his 1st live performance for this song. So they heard it on the radio thinking he was white. When he came out their expressions were like 😮😮
Never listened to this music much. You two bring new appreciation to history.
You stole my name you would be hearing from someone
Nvm my name used to be god speed
This was a 1960 Roulette Records Release by Frankie Lymon and he handled it with class
Love seeing you guys check out these older songs. There so different from todays stuff
You would really like "I wonder why" by Dion & The Belmonts
Great ! I only know this one from The Jackson 5 .. love the original too!🎶🎤💜
Thx for reacting!
He was such a CUTE kid and talented -all the way. I wonder if Michael Jackson's father got the idea from watching Little Frankie...?
Good question. I don't think so. It wasn't working out for Joe & his music group, but he saw talent in his kids. Michael wasn't in the group originally to have any bearing on that. However, both Michael Jackson and Berry Gordy gave Frankie Lyman credit for influencing them.
That audience tho 😳
A bunch of weirdos, I dont know why they even came to the show if they cant stand to see a black teenager singing on stage
This is a cover originally sung by Thurston Harris ( Thurston & The Sharps) 1957 it reach No. 6 on the Billboard and No.2 on the R&B chart . Frankie Lymon version reach No.58 on Billboard Hot 100. The Jackson 5's reach No.13,in 1994 Huey Lewis & the News place on their album "FOUR CHORDS & SEVERAL YEARS AGO ". That's the way song writer Robert Byrd wrote it.
Beechnut gum was one of if not the main sponsor of the show...now do you get it?
Y’all a who type of vibe my hats off to you this music hits me so hard reminds me of my mother and my aunt who no longer with me 😢❤
Your going to love this one we all do ! Enjoy
He looks young because he has a baby face and he was always short but he was in his 20s
I was told him and his 1st wife had a daughter named Francine lymon. But she passed away 2days aft she was Born. Vivica Fox played the character of his 1st wife in why do fools fall in love.

❤️🥰❤️ Hello S & M SQUAD, HAPPY HOLIDAYS !!! ☃️❄️🎄⭐️ ❤️🥰❤️ S and M SQUAD IS THE BEST!!! ❤️🥰❤️
love the girls in the crowd chewing gum...it was a thing back then
we were just tryin to look cool
@Black and Blue...not really a "thing"...it was simply that Beechnut gum was the show's major sponsor and they made sure everyone got free gum! Get it?
Looks like the MEGA crowd whose not to happy to see him up in there.
There's always a racist in the crowd.
Don't bring politics into it.
@@jackiegoodspeed1849 lets be honest, the faces those people made honestly made me mad and it woke me up to reality to what evilness was in people's minds just 50/60 years ago
@@NoRockinMansLand
Music transcends politics inside the soul. Learn that in life. Carry on earth mate.
@@jackiegoodspeed1849 yes I agree it does but some close minded people would not agree with you, like some of the people in the stage
Oh yeah baby
The audience was all white and the girls were not supposed to show to much enthusiasm for black men. So they sat there popped their Double Mint gum. Frankie was 16 on this and the people who were supposed to look out for let him get turned out on heroin. He had no children, but he had 4 wives. He O D in his grandmother's bathroom at age 28. By then his voice had cracked and no one would book him for work, because he was not reliable. We loved this guy and to this day we still miss him. R.I. P.
A
He had daughter
Love this guy's voice🙂
One of the greatest. Gone much to soon. Drugs are never the right way to a sucsessful and long life . What a waste off talent ❤
This was him doing a come back
This was a cover of a Thurston Harris song, which was good too.
Another great one for the sock hop.
This song played in the movie Christine
So from a beautiful woman who had hateful monsters hurt me repeatedly break my bones hurt my face I am happy you found someone you love
Frankie was the shit
Frankie deserved better than he got
Oh Yea, classic
Frankin Joseph Lymon (September 30, 1942 - February 27, 1968) On February 27, 1968, Lymon was found dead of a heroin overdose at the age of 25 on the floor of his grandmother's bathroom with a syringe by his side
They were 15!!!😮😮😮
Great remake ❤
The first time I heard this it was a cover by the Jackson 5
He had a daughter named Francine with Elizabeth but the baby died 2 days after birth
They didn't know he was black. Look at the audience. They killed him. Crushed him.
Screaming Jay Hawkins did a great crazy cover of this song also
7:40 Sorry, no surviving kids. Frankie Lymon had a daughter that died a few days after birth in 1964. Allegedly he had three wives all at the same time. He neglected to divorce one before marrying the other. Zora Taylor, the female from the Platters, was his second wife. This was a big mess after Frankie's death. There was a fight over who should receive royalties from his music. The courts final decision was in favor of Frankie's last wife. She was the only one with legal documented proof of marriage.
This is who that story was about. Watched it a couple times. Lol.
@@jackiegoodspeed1849 Yes. The "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" movie starring Larenz Tate was about him.
The Jackson Five covered this song Michael singing lead
did you know he married the lady singer from the Platters
Very good
The women in the audience are just sitting there like statues. No clapping or even moving.
You should listen to his adult voice before he passed one is called Sea breeze
thanku luv these old vids!!!
Frankie lymon had a daughter,I believe from his first wife, but the baby died 3 days later after she was born, her name was Francis
All I can think of is Christine
Good reaction. Thanks!
Do Lionel Richie "Running With
The Night"
Check out his adult hits like "sea breeze" "teacher teacher" and "I put the bomp" I think you might like em

Love it!
This always reminds me of the movie Christine. :)
Jackie Wilson's Higher and Higher. Check it out!
Another "Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers" video. I think the record company told him to forget "The Teenagers," and just become a solo artist, and he did. Good old song.
He was the greatest. Watch the movie “why do fools fall in love”
Need to see the movie about his wives!
Listen to the Thurston Harris version of this song. Amazing!
The Movie of Frankie Lymons live is great & sad.
First!
Another one I remember well. Loved it. Wonder why those white girls were sitting there like lumps on a log?
He had 3 wives by the time he passed away at 25 .
Love this song but the audience seemed to be pretty sedentary and bland. He was miming to the track in this performance which is a shame but that’s the way tv was operating back in the day. A sensational performer live though. Thurston Harris did the original version and it’s probably even better than this one. You should check it out if you get the chance. Great reaction guys, keep the hits coming !!! 👍🏼
Flamingos I only have eyes for you
