When are you guys going to understand they didn't have "music videos" back in the day. What does it mean he was just another auditorium kid? You hit it big when you got to be on Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand' TV show. Frankie was about 17-18 yrs old when he released this. He was about eleven when he began his singing career and he had a string of songs on the charts

This was 1957 on American Bandstand which was on every Saturday,Dick Clark was the host for decades. There was very little on TV back then directed to teens.

He started writing and singing around 11 or 12 I think. He has some great hits.

He would have been in his late teens. And this song features in the movie Matilda. Also check him out singing with The Teenages 'why do fools fall in lovee'.

Frankie Lymon started singing in a group with childhood friends called The Teenagers they made it big when he was around 13 years old after a few hit songs he left the group to go solo & this was one of his hits. At this performance he had to been late teens or just got in his 20's.

He also looked older than his years due to drug abuse. Which subsequently kills him.

Frankie lymon one of the most influential artists during the 1950s. Big influence on Ronnie Spector. If you like this version you need to listen to the original by Thurston Harris. R&B Stomper I guarantee you. It will blow you away✌️

This is the second post of yours that I’ve viewed (after “The Stroll” by the Diamonds). I’m counting on you guys to continue exposing those of your era to the music of the late 50’s and early 60’s. Seems that many people are stuck in the era of their youth but if they fail to research the music from the first decade of Rock N’ Roll - (1954-1963) - they’re missing out on an amazing part of music history.

He started out singing on the street corners in Harlem his friends. They were known as Frankie Lyman and The Teenagers . He had a huge substance abuse problem. My mom and family lived in the same neighborhood.

Love how people back in the day dressed. When I look at my mom's old pictures I'm amazed at how they didn't have a lot of money but those men and women looked good. Today compared to them we look like bums and they conducted themselves like ladies and gentlemen regardless of the racism they faced.

That was the famous Bandstand with Dick Clark on TV which everyone tuned into. Balck and white in the 1950s. That is the way we dressed. That’s original tv. Live.

You guys should listen to his song seabreeze that he made as an adult. Such an amazing song. People were so obsessed with his teenage voice that when he became an adult they didn’t pay attention to him.

WHY would you think he was 55? LOL! He's in his late teens here! Not an auditorium with elementary kids...it's the "American Bandstand Show" I hate to tell you this, but if you went out on the streets the way you are dressed NOW, you would be thought of as a "bum," "hobo," "homeless person." If you were a teen back then, or even a child, you would be dressing exactly like everyone in the video is dressed, it was the norm. I was there, and I dressed like that too.

The grow up in church. Back then that how they learned to sing. To sell their music the albums depict white people. Frankie had a very sad life. Most of these people died poor. The music industry is cut throat.
