Frankie Lyman was the Rascal,When he died he had three widows show up to the funeral he had three wives at the same time, they made a movie about him it was interesting!
Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers' were a doo-wop group from the 50's. Their first & biggest hit was "Why Do Fools Fall In Love". The group were known for both their harmonies & choreography & also had hits with "I Want You To Be My Girl", "I Promise To Remember", "Who Can Explain?", "I'm Not A Juvenile Delinquent", "Out In The Cold Again" & "The ABC's Of Love".
Then Frankie went solo, got depressed because his voice changed, the record company didn’t like that he was in the puberty stage and nobody didn’t want to help him with his heroin addiction, he was a young man with no guidance in life, Rest In Peace to him and his two wives the second women was Zola Taylor Frankie had an affair with her as a teenager and an adult their marriage was a publicity stunt so that Frankie can be famous again which was true so Rest In Peace to All of them.
Also, for many decades his group The Teenagers continued to perform around the country with various different leads over the years. Jimmy Castor, Lewis Lymon, and Timothy "Tiny Tim" Wilson were some of the leads who took over Frankie's leads at the live shows.
Great song choice! This is a cover of a song written in the 30's. Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics to this and many amazing songs from clever to comical to romantic including BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE, SKYLARK, and AC-CEN-TCHU- ATE THE POITIVE.
His last song he made sea breeze was so amazing. You was such a great singing wish he had a chance to show the world he was a good singer as an adult not just as a teenager.
Shawn and Mel...What a music icon, singer and song writer with a great talent that had a sad ending...After Lymon went solo in mid-1957, Both his career and that of The Teenagers fell into decline. On February 27, 1968, He was found dead at the age of 25 on the floor of his grandmother's bathroom from a heroin overdose with a syringe by his side. His life was dramatized in the 1998 film Why Do Fools Fall In Love.
Frankie was the whole package! RIP Frankie (you got to see the video with him performing live , he can sing, dance and move an audience out of their seat! )
My mom and grandmother knew Frankie, he lived in our old neighborhood in Harlem. Larenze Tate did an amazing job at portraying him in Why Do Fools Fall In Love .
He didn't write it. It's actually a cover song from the original written in 1936. It has been covered many times by many artists over the years. I love his version however.
One of Frankie's "wives" was Zola Taylor, the lone female singer in the Platters. Taylor claimed to have married Frankie in 1965, but a year later claimed the whole thing was a joke that she just went along with at the time.
I love this song... There is a video of him singing this song on a Variety Show and He KILLS IT!!! But as he got old and the Heroin had taken effect his voice wasn't the same... Tragic Story...
Frankie lymon & the teenagers left a legacy that will always shine in the hearts of all those they touched they set the Standers for Alot of later on Young artists such as Lewis lymon & the bopchords Ronnie & the hi-lites The students The schoolboys the Jackson 5 the osmond brothers The ponderosa twins Jimmy brisco & the little beavers Little kids in the block Menudo And more they where the first singing group to cross over

He was 25 when he passed of a heroin overdose. All went to hell when he went solo. He didn't write this. Back in the day very few artists wrote their own songs.

Things were rosy for a while until the corporate bosses talked Frankie into turning his back on the teenagers a very disloyal act that Frankie recognized he left his buddies out in the cold they tried but failed to further their musical careers and the survivors blame Frankie to this day. I have seen this stuff before and it stinks to high heavens when all of a sudden he says I'm going solo it stinks.
😆😆😆 ya get what you give and she had it coming. I know how that feels and I hate to say it but I've been there and I had my ""glad you got hurt and im not sorry" 😄
By the way Rascal means a mischievous person. Another fun fact about Frankie is he use to date Zola Taylor of The Platters. By the way there is a live version of Frankie singing this. Here is the link ua-cam.com/video/K3VLt_Q5pmA/v-deo.html
Zola Taylor of the Platters had a rocky relationship with Frankie. She gave him almost every material thing and loved him. But Frankie was self-destructive. He died at 25 of a drug overdose.
Again im gonna say both of you are doing a great....however i have to correct something you said......Frankie didnt write this song.....he just remade a song that was done in 1935
Never mind the lyrics, his voice was amazing. At his age, he sang with so much heart. One in a million.
Frankie Lyman was the Rascal,When he died he had three widows show up to the funeral he had three wives at the same time, they made a movie about him it was interesting!

Lymon was only 15 when his cover was released. Sadly he died of a heroin overdose at his grandmothers home at the age of 25.
Keep listening to these oldies of the 50’s and 60’s. Love your reactions

An old song done well in this cover by Frankie. The music I grew up with.
His last song he made sea breeze was so amazing. You was such a great singing wish he had a chance to show the world he was a good singer as an adult not just as a teenager.

This song was written for Big Bands in 1936. Lymon covered it in the 1950s.

One of the greatest voices of all time.
One of Frankie's "wives" was Zola Taylor, the lone female singer in the Platters. Taylor claimed to have married Frankie in 1965, but a year later claimed the whole thing was a joke that she just went along with at the time.
When I was 5 years old did my dance recital to this record. 😊

This probably my favorite song he did i loved him since the 3rd grade when the movie came out😂
You need to react to the movie, "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?" It is a story about Frankie Lymon. But I don't know how accurate it is to his lifestyle.
Just a song but frankie was 13 years old with their 1st hit.
this song is amazing
I think it was written by Johnny Mercer back in the 30's. By the way you should listen to some Johnny Mercer!!
You can see the movie “Why Do Fools fmFall in Love“ about Frankie Lyman.
Love it!
Your going to like this one .
Frankie was badd! I love it! He was like an early Michael Jackson in a way. I think that Larenz Tate did a helluva job portraying him the movie
He was 25 when he passed of a heroin overdose. All went to hell when he went solo. He didn't write this. Back in the day very few artists wrote their own songs.
I wished you reacted to the actual video of him singing it but good this is a good one!
Love this song.
A similar theme, is “Poor Little Fool” Ricky Nelson 🔥💥😬
Thanks for sharing!

I've always loved this song! I believe Ella Fitzgerald did a cover of this song also.
Too bad you didn't see the video, it was a live TV show.
They where different versions of that song Benny Goodman did the original back in 1936 than in the late 50s frankie lymons version was a hit.
😆😆😆 ya get what you give and she had it coming. I know how that feels and I hate to say it but I've been there and I had my ""glad you got hurt and im not sorry" 😄

This song was written in 1936 and was popular long before this recording. Rascal isn't a bad word. Just saying someone is a little bad.
