BRAVO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💕💕💕💕💕💕💕🤗🤗🤗🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰
The flexibility of tempo in this performance, especially the Allegretto, is unique. While somewhat disorienting at first, it is fresh and exciting. Kudos to the orchestra for following the conductor in perfect ensemble.
Great orchestra, great symphony. Very charming conductor! Love how he brings out and emphasizes the many surprised in this symphony. Much more so than many other conductors do.
Brilliant! Lively, engaging, tantalizing, dramatic and all around wonderful composition and a jubilant, enthusiastic performance. Haydn was a trickster! LOL
Super!!! Having viewed three different orchestras play No. 82 on UA-cam, I now have to see it live (this one would have been great, as I love Frankfurt, Germany). Someone should create a worldwide calendar of scheduled concerts of Haydn symphonies allowing Haydnites to plan their vacations, business trips, etc.
Hurwitz is a bit hit and miss; when he’s good, he’s very good, but when he’s bad, he’s terrible. Also of course, he is often out of tune with European critics, which means sometimes, US viewers to his channel are subjected to some pretty non-mainstream and often US-centric views.
The natural brass instruments and smaller classical timpani with stiffer mallets add greatly to the punchiness and liveliness of the music. In my opinion, these period instruments are indeed much more suited to this kind of music than their modern-day counterparts.
There’s no such thing as ‘best’ symphony, but of its type - C major, trumpets and drums - you’re right, it’s a very fine work. Worth remembering too that this is the *last* of the six ‘Paris’ symphonies, not the first, and rather like Mozart with 39, 40, 41, both composers wanted to go out with a big bang in C major. The familiar sequence of 82-87 which unfortunately has stuck was an entirely arbitrary decision by Haydn’s Viennese publisher Artaria who ignored Haydn’s specific instruction [extant letter] that the six symphonies should be published thus: *87, 85, 83, 84, 86, 82,* Haydn’s sequence* makes both musical and artistic sense, whereas the 82-87 sequence - which makes no sense at all - is as absurd as messing with Mozart’s last three, or put another way, reading the last six chapters of a book in the wrong order. * Haydn’s sequence is also chronologically correct.
The entire last movement is full of fake endings for basically the last 10 minutes straight. The ending chords too are a practical jone by haydnbut its rare that a conductor embraces the sillyness of haydn that much
Whew! I'm speechless! I feel as if I've been assaulted by this nervous, even angry, fussy, irritating overly-interpreted performance, phrases pushed and pulled, lightning-fast tempos, etc. I was so aware of conductor Spinosi that I could hardly enjoy Haydn. Or am I being totally unfair, and was this just a spirited and idiomatic realization of the music that Haydn would have heartily approved of? I only know I need to relax.
I totally agree, I had to stop listening. Some conductors seem intent on making the music "exciting" and only succeed in giving everyone headaches. Also I do wish that orchestras would be correctly sized for Haydn symphonies. Mahlerian proportions just do not work. I think Haydn would have been reaching for 18th century aspirin after just 4 bars. Here is a version of this symphony which is beautifully vibrant and much better balanced. The orchestra is still too large imo but it´s a lovely performance ua-cam.com/video/83aje5_O1OM/v-deo.html

Jean-Christophe-Spinossi's conducting is a joy to watch. Good footage.
What a great series of fake endings! I really enjoyed this performance! Thanks for sharing and All the Best from Washington, DC!

Outstanding. I always love when a conductor brings out the best from this marvelous orchestra. You can see and hear the joy. Thank you!
Incredibile performance!!!!! That' s a genius one. Haydn at his best! Letzter Satz unglaublich!! Bravo... Kleiber!
Who knew Haydn could be so fun! Thank you from the wilds of Salem, State of Oregon, where bears abound.
For a moment I thought that Carlos Kleiber was alive
Me too hahaha
Omg same…. 😂 even their conducting look somewhat similar
I came here exactly for this comment 🙌
When you don't know what music to play or what you want to listen to, choose Haydn. It always works
Eine sehr schöne Inzenierung dieser liebevollen Sinfonie! Bravo!
j'adore
A very free interpretation, especially in the finale. I wonder what Haydn would think of it, as he was quite the jokester himself.
Carlos Kleiber conducting, Claude Debussy on the flute. A real all-star team here!
Never heard rubato like this. But I liked it. Bravo, maestro. And bravissimo Haydn.

Una joya de la música de Haydn.
Excelente interpretación
thanks , very good
Love it and the references to Carlitos Kleiber!
Voller Temperament, eine Freude.
Really nice. BRAVO
Gracias.
Bravo! Fantastic! Thanks.

"The Bear". Masterful.
I want Dave Hurwitz to react to this performance!

I don't care .This is superb
Thank you for uploading this. Really enjoyed the performance - very uplifting and the conductor's added humour is much appreciated!!

Maravilhoso!
Ⅰ. 0:04 Vivace assai
Ⅱ.12:16 Allegretto
Ⅲ.19:41 Menuet-trio-Menuet
Ⅳ.23:48 Finale. Vivace
Wonderful!!!

Absolutely demented Haydn....but in an incredibly fun way XD
Haydn is a joker !!! This last moviment so Nice

Did the conductor make up the ending? Pretty bold, but I'm laughing my ass off.
Please educate me someone. Is the conductor meant to do that at the end? Dud Haydn score in that little practical joke? I love it either way.

Interesting and beautufull as anything composed by haydn , but sometiimes toooo much idiomatic.

Yes, sleep would do you well. I hope your sensibilities are improved in the morning.
I think you need to relax.
Preposterous
Não sei quanto a regência. Mas ele lembra a fisionomia do Carlos Kleiber.
