    I'm having so much fun with the ARRMA Infraction. This is the on-road car I've wanted. I've tried several others, but this is on the top of the list for me. I've stuck with the stock pinion to this point because it allows me to quick start and stop it and run in tighter areas.
    But it's really hot and humid here in southeastern Virginia in the summer and without any venting in the ARRMA Infractions body, it's getting really hot in there. :)
    I'm planning to cut a few vents in the body, but after I try a few speed runs with it. I'm not a speed guy, so I got it to street bash with and want the performance of the ESC and Motor to run cooler when I'm doing burnouts and running full throttle.
    An easy solution for motor temps is to run a heatsink and fans. The Yeah Racing dual fan heat sink is east to install and should provide lower temps. I'll be checking the temps with the fans on and off to see what difference . we can see.

    Another good tip that I can give you is getting some thermal paste for a computer CPU and applying it to the heatsink. With thermal paste, the heatsink will work much better like 20f better. I use thermal paste on all of my heatsinks and I promise you that it helps.

    Hey bro, I would bash it like you do. I’m a off-road guy too. Early in the live stream I said it’s a speed rig but what I did say was you can build it to bash. And here you are already building it up into a reliable Basher. Very nice 👍 Bro!

      I think that’ll do wonders for temps. May create lift if not vented in the rear as week for air to escape...and still may create lift. That’ll be part of the testing

    These motors on these cars can get hotter than a hooker on a Saturday night lol!! I put a pair of heatsinks on mine, I have the Arrma Typhon 6S, same motor I think, can't remember. It helps a bit.
    I have her geared up pretty high, 26T pinion & stock spur. Had to modify the motor mount bracket to fit the larger pinion. But on 6S, I was bashing & speed running her for quite a while this week past weekend & she was fine, a bit toasty but still running. I do have a Castle Mamba Monster 2 ESC in her, but I can get about half hour of bashing with no cutoff. I'm using a CNHL G+Plus 6000mah 6S battery. Granted, here in CT the weather is still mild.
    Oh, and I totally recommend with these powerful Arrma car that you get ceramic or at least hybrid ceramic bearings. Because the stock bearings are not the greatest & they too will contribute to heating issues with the car. I even replaced the motor bearings with ceramic ones.The difference is literally night & day!! The stock bearings didn't even last me a month before they were grinding. And everything was stock at the time.
    I love my Typhon 6S, hoping to grab a felony next. Arrma Rocks 😎
    Thanks for the vid 👍👍

    I didn't need the jumper cable for when I installed the dual fans, not sure if you are using the other ports on your receiver already. Also I opted to use those included spacers to give the heatsink room to breath and to allow the fans to distribute cold air better.

    I am also from the VA area and I was having problems with my e buggy overheating so I vented it like the nitro buggies and the temps dropped considerably from around 190f to 140f. If I were you I would use your circle cutter to cut a hole in the windshield and maybe put some sort of box under the esc to raise it a bit closer to the hole so that it can pull more fresh air. It's not like you are jumping the truck.

      Not a bad suggestion. It will change the lift at high speed, which is why I’m waiting until I can find a location to do a high speed test with speedometer. Only plan to do it once as I want it more for street bashing

    You’d think a brand like Arrma with all its experience in RC’s would of done more than enough extensive testing to ensure the motor didnt over heat so early on , yes I understand any motor can over heat if abused but for £600 I’d expect it to take a good beating and if anything adleast provide a heat sink with fans to prevent anything like this happening.

    Your car is way too heavy with that setup. Lipos with cabels are around 1,5kg. My cars are heavily modifiend, and when I add Gopro with hard case(under the wing, no aero effects) I can see changes in logs on ESC. Especially when doing hard drag runs. Drop some 700 grams, and temps will drop. Great truck and great job! Have fun!

    • @CCxRC

      Before this run I used small 5000 mah 3s batteries, but same problem. At Horizon RC Fest they had huge batteries in the demo truck they ran, so I ordered some to test as I was getting short runs.
      Still trying to get it all sorted.

    • @branimirtosic
      @branimirtosic 5 років тому +1

      There is a good point in a big battery too. Less voltage drop, less ripple, less current for same power, results in less heat. So, high quality 5000-6000 mah LiPo would be sweet spot. I use Graphene Panther with a very good results. Another point, you addressed in video is air circulation. There must be clear in/out path for heat to leave as fast as possible. One more thing i use YR heat sink too, but when mounting heat sink you mustt use thermal tape, for transfering the heat from motor can to heat sink, it makes all the difference in the world.

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  5 років тому +1

  • @fuzzytech3846
    @fuzzytech3846 3 роки тому

    Those YR heat sink and fans are the same model of the Powerhobby heat sink and although they do reduce the heat they could be way better. The fans are just too close and get "choked". I made a 3D printed manifold for it, it allows for better "breathing room" for the fans so you get better air flow and it also directs some of the air down over the sides as well. After running it my temps have fallen further even with a larger pinion. If you would like to check it out head over to the thingiverse website and put 4750717 into the search bar. It's the number for the manifold page if you wish to check it out.

      The main goal here was to cool the motor as it was too hot as well. The main thing was to just stop doing full throttle burnouts non-stop or do them on a lower pinion. I dropped it to 16T and was fine. It wasn’t speed runs that was overheating, and I didn’t need the stock pinion to do street bashing.

      So far I have only got more then 3-4 minutes if I run it on a small track and not wide open or doing donuts. Keeps shutting down on me from overheating. That’s what this whole video is about as I’m trying to get it to run cooler and not shutdown

    Or you can run the new #GameChangerRC fan called the "IMPERVIOUS" which is super powerful and you will only need to run 1 fan. Plus, they connect right to your Balancing plug on your lipos.
