Last time I went to Longbridge (mid to late 90s) these were in full production, body shells being carried around well above head height on a conveyor system. Went their a fair bit bit mainly to the k series line. I used to work for Perkins Engines at the time and the Prima engine went into the montego and maestro. I always thought the MG F and TF were built to replace the MGAs, Bs and Cs but that's just a guess. Great little cars though the MG magic was sprinkled on the ZR and ZS gone off the 75 since your truthful review. Though the magic had been sprinkled on other models previously. Great review
I was out in my F today, on the twisty Somerset B-Roads local to me, roads that have so many seemingly pointless dips, twists, loops and hairpins that they might have been designed especially to entertain MGF owners. Just as you said, I did actually beam with boyish joy at the ridiculous speed that the little car will safely carry across country. In the dry, its delightful handling is still something of a revelation even after a couple of years of ownership. Lightness, a mid-mounted engine and mechanical simplicity offer a characterful driving experience that the powerful but heavy, over-large and computerised moderns have completely lost, but with far better reliability, safety and performance than the classics. Something of a sweet spot, for me.
Electric power steering makes sense for a mid (rear) engined car - you’d need excessively long pipes if it had a conventional hydraulic pump driven off the engine, which would cause a drop in pressure by the time it got to the steering rack. Same reason why they don’t have front mounted oil coolers on the TF160.
Very nice red, is it Nightfire red? It's well taken care of, judging by the choice of tyres. I miss the extra little bit of power from the VVC, had my LE500 remapped to get closer but not quite there.
@@ProjectNigel Yes !! Best car I’ve ever owned! 👌 Looks the part! Great fun 🤩 and always gets attention where ever you go. And engine performance is something else. 😁 I’ll bring up to you soon and have a review. Will be introducing it to my channel in a video sometime soon. So keep a eye out 👀
I think this car looks very nice, but that windscreen that makes everything out of focus would do my head in. One of my neighbours has an MGF that they rarely use. It has the hardtop and I think it looks very nice too. Maybe they don’t drive it so much because the windscreen makes everything out of focus? I’ll ask them when I see them. One of my other neighbours around the corner has an MX5, a fairly recent one, 2013 I think, and they use that all the time. Probably has a regular windscreen.
in the comments of your MGF purchase video, a few of us mentioned the VVC had the shorter ratio gearbox, which made it feel quicker than it's 25bhp advantage over the regular MGF. Has the diesel Audi affected your ability to feel how a car drives? :)

Is that a beige leather interior
Nice car, I like them. Nice to see the sun out in the North at last.
I used to have a 2001 1.8 vvc in silver with front fogs
Would I be correct in thinking you like the car?

3:50 oh! Pegs in the dashboard! Does it have a full tourney cover then??! 😳
Yes I believe it does.
@@ProjectNigel mega rare.
Aren't those wheels off a TF? I didn't think they put them on F.
certainly did put them on the F from 2000 onwards
Maybe another crossover thingy
@@JamieMerchant-w8b Oh! Everyday is a school day!
And still available for under 2k is amazing value
This one isn't 😆
Lovely car. Right color. Manual Transmission. Sorted/puts out a good appearance. Priced fairly. #BlameBoaty .
Do they not blow the cylinder head gaskets?
Only is abused, like any engine really
You don't see many red ones👍
