@@idonteatcheetos It's not about his wife. He's made it very clear when talking about this song that it was written during a time when he was pretty sure he wanted to leave the band and give up fame. By the time this was recorded I think he'd already changed his mind and wanted to keep on going, but they still recorded the song because it was good, and because they felt like it was an important, if sad, step along the way. You don't even have to go off questions and interviews and stuff, its right in the lyrics. "The absence, the void you'll cause , When you choose to leave them all here" What happens to the rest of the band if the lead member leaves? "Oh, can you hear its ringing its left in my ear?" Literal ringing in the ear from performing hundreds of loud shows, and also perhaps a second more psychological meaning. I can't love this song anymore than I already do. I don't think. One of the best well produced songs I've heard in years. Love this band since the very first time I heard them.
I'm 55 years old, I've been playing in bands since I was 16. been listening to coheed since I heard the 2nd lp. one of if not THE most underrated bands ever
You know, this album dropped toward the end of a really rough time in my career (I was basically going through a software development bootcamp some 600 miles from home), and since I was living in company housing I was isolated from my fiancee and my family for about 4 months. I know it's not nearly as long as some people have had to deal with, but it was still a really rough time for me being farther from home than I've ever been. I remember the first time I heard this song I was in my car on my way to visit home for the first time in... Probably six weeks? I left Friday night after work for a 9-hour drive, and I'd only be able to be home until Sunday when I had to drive another 9 hours back to work. I just started kind of breaking down as the song played, realizing how much everything was changing and how much I was leaving behind. It all basically came down to the choice between working a terrible minimum-wage job and going nowhere, or leaving everything for the chance at a successful career, being shipped off to almost anywhere in the US. This song definitely inspired me to keep putting my best foot forward. There were a lot of times I wanted to just give up and quit, but with how much I'd already put into the program it would be stupid to just give up. It's been a year and two months since I got my job, my wife and I have been married just under 4 months now, and I can honestly say that I've finally made it at this point. While I would say I might have done things differently, life's been pretty great since then. :)
I adore this song. The only thing I can think of when I watch this is how stressful that probably was to walk backwards, filming Claudio through the venue. I would trip so many times
It’s really incredible that you guys continue to put out such amazing music after being together as long as you have. I remember picking up “in keeping secrets...” fifteen years ago and being blown away. It’s the same way I felt listening to “the unheavenly creatures.” Keep it up guys; can’t wait to see you in July :)
Seeing them in concert is something I will never forget. Their amazing original style and depth is unlike any other. The first time I heard them I fell in love.
One of my absolute favorite songs you've ever released, made all the more emotional when my wife went on tour with her own band for the first time. So grateful for this album, and this song especially.
@@maxwelld23 Frontman Claudio Sanchez said this of “The Pavilion (A Long Way Back)” in his interview with Rolling Stone: For example, there was no concept with “Pavilion.” The bare-bones meaning behind that song was basically leaving the band. It wasn’t until I started structuring the actual beats of the story that I found a place for it within the concept. I took those bones and fleshed it out with the backstory of Creature and Sister Spider and how they worked in theater productions. In that second verse, if you listen, it talks about “dressing room carpets” and “broken TVs” - it’s basically the loop of being a band on the road, all the things you sort of endure. For me, it was like, ‘That’s obviously about [leaving the band], but how do I take this real-life situation and feed it to these fictitious characters to give them more legs to stand on, using this song that feels so outside of the concept?”
Omg! I love you guys - I remember the night Blood Red Summer was being played for the first time on the radio. Claudio’s voice and stories had me hooked on CO&CA ever since! Thanks for sticking around guys - this musical art only gets better.
I cannot get enough of this song!! True musicianship! True talent! True song writing genius!! This conjures so many emotions and I can’t remember the last time new music made me feel that way!!
So I've known these guys for about 6 months now and listened to a couple of tracks off of their new album. Since they were on tour near me at the end of April I bought a ticket just because I was f*cking bored of my life at that point. I gotta say this concert changed my life. More than six weeks have gone by since that show and there hasn't been a single day that I haven't listened to their music since then. Honestly I am so grateful for this band. Their music helped me through tough times during the last weeks and will probably help me through hard times for the upcoming couple of weeks. This track was actually the first I ever heard of them and I instantly fell in love with it. Glad it got a music video. Keep on rocking guys and all the best! \m/
Words can not explain what this band means to me. It's impossible to describe what this band makes you feel. Every emotion one can feel in one song. An absolute masterpiece. I love you coheed!!!!!
Wife and I them at the MECU in Baltimore last night. Omg their performance was immaculate!! So great seeing a great band have such longevity and prosperity. Much peace guys!
Your new album helped save me from suicide, I hope you know the power your music has and how grateful we all are that you share it with us. Thank you C&C X

How are things going now?
I adore this song. The only thing I can think of when I watch this is how stressful that probably was to walk backwards, filming Claudio through the venue. I would trip so many times
It’s really incredible that you guys continue to put out such amazing music after being together as long as you have. I remember picking up “in keeping secrets...” fifteen years ago and being blown away. It’s the same way I felt listening to “the unheavenly creatures.” Keep it up guys; can’t wait to see you in July :)
Please, all the Powers that Be, STAY! Coheed has been such a huge part of my life. Always will be One among the Fence.
From shabute to today. Good eye sniper. Your running free. Love your music and graphic novels.
this song gives me goosebumps, I may have heard it a million times, but every fricking time the goosebumps are there! Absolutely STUNNING!!!
Genuinely crying my little heart out. Thank you for staying
Seeing them in concert is something I will never forget. Their amazing original style and depth is unlike any other. The first time I heard them I fell in love.
Whoaa...
Thank you, youtube for its recomendation !
One of my absolute favorite songs you've ever released, made all the more emotional when my wife went on tour with her own band for the first time. So grateful for this album, and this song especially.
Best song on the new album, that is full of great songs. This one has literally made me tear up though, so it takes the cake.
Me too man!
Some of the best phrasing ive ever heard
Right? First thing I thought of when I heard this. Brilliant.
We're not asking you, we're not begging you, we're telling you

@@maxwelld23 okay fuckwad explain that to every comment on here
@@dudebro9825 "It's a choice that I make but for us I choose to give it all up You want me here? Well, then ask me to stay"
@@maxwelld23 Frontman Claudio Sanchez said this of “The Pavilion (A Long Way Back)” in his interview with Rolling Stone:
For example, there was no concept with “Pavilion.” The bare-bones meaning behind that song was basically leaving the band.
You're amazing guys, my favorite band nowadays
Man, I have loved them for 15 years and that love is strong as ever.
C&C is seriously like my lighthouse to navigate through shitty times. I couldn't ever possibly say this enough, but 'thank-you guys.'
Dave D. Dude hell yeah... hell yeah
This song cured my lumbago!
So beautiful, C&C still giving me these feeling. Some days you just need to stay in your camper and indulge in your dreams of the interstellar.

I will never get tired of Josh's insane enthusiasm for playing with the band since he rejoined.
