Even 2 yrs later, I STILL adore this song. The huge overture, the swelling harmonies and Travis just killing with the little touches here and there? They straight bodied this.
Finding out this song is not named after a metaphorical gutter, but instead a belt that literally guts the wearer with a giant corkscrew, is kinda wild.
@@katiesutton-z8v In the comics The Unheavenly Creatures are captured and placed on The Dark Sentencer which is a prison planet. The prison uses a belt that when activated drills into the gut of the wearer and disembowels them. It can be activated by remote or special sensors if they try to escape. This song is basically the original 2 Unheavenly Creatures, Creature(Nostrand) and Collossus(Otto Cruger), after being captured, finding out that Sister Spider(Nia), the third member of the unheavenly creatures, was not actually dead and is also on the dark sentencer. The song is conversations being had between Nia, Nostrand and Otto. Otto being the one that had killed Nia and blamed it on a guard but did not know that she had been found and revived by the HOSS to work for them.
@@RobotNinja01I've been wanting to read the novels but am not much of a reader. Knowing this bit of information brought an entirely different viewpoint on the song and also its play on words. Coheed is astronomically underrated and it saddens me.
@@stinkyjutsu You can buy them in complete volumes and then read them slowly. It helps that they are graphic novels so even not being much of a reader it's actually not hard to get through them. I think it's a total of 32 issues so it's not even a really long series to get into. I don't know if they do them in audio book format but maybe they should because the story itself is pretty good even without the artwork. The best part of the novels though is the music I think. Had I not listened to Coheed first and then discovered the comics I don't know if I would have really gotten into it. Having all these reference points within the story that remind me of a song or a specific line a character says is a song and knowing the song it adds more to what I would have originally thought was just some throw away line that meant nothing.
The evolution of this band is outstanding. EVERY ALBUM is amazing and unique in their own right, and I have a feeling this one will be one of the greats 🤞🏻
Matt Yo get the fuck out of here. Honestly I think Black Rainbow is some of their best work. Give it another listen, I really don’t know why it gets so much hate. I fucking love that album.
Good god man. I’ve been here since the beginning, but Claudio’s voice continues to send chills down my back! Million dollar voice and hair to boot! 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
Over the years, coheed has been the soundtrack to my life... As cliche as it sounds, my life will never be the one I wanted but, it's still mine. Thanks guys for helping all of us so much. I wouldn't be alive if not for your influence.
I fully agree man! I'll never forget stealing Good Apollo: V1 from Walmart when I was 14. A decision that literally changed much of my life. Met several good friends just because I knew who Coheed was.
These lyrics hit me way different. To me its been one month after a break up. I saw her fall into depression and drunkenness. Then one day she called it quits because "of being in the different places in life". I feel the song as last cry before truly letting go of love. It's where I am. I was good to her. But her past demons just won her over. It was a good 1.5 years. But I need to save myself. I've been a Coheed fan since good Apollo. They never disappoint
I only found Coheed and Cambria when Dark Sentencer showed up in my feed. never heard of them. but since then, and the release of Unheavenly Creatures, I've turned into a fan. this stuff is so epic and emotional, I have no words for it. thank you, Coheed and Cambria. you guys rock
Big E in the UP Believe me, I love Mic too, he was such a big part of the band. But I think Coop is an absolute perfect fit musically and personality wise for who the band is now. Couldn't be better in my opinion. Regardless, happy almost birthday to Mic, I hope he's recovering and doing well in life.
This why I finally got coheed and Cambria tattoo’d on me ! They continue to inspire and amaze me every album! Ever since I was 16 , this had been and always will be my favorite band !
Question. Does Claudio know he essentially made another anthem? From start to 2:00, he had to know that everyone listening would be singing word to word.
This band saw me through my 6 years in the army from 2004-2010! It also bridged the gap in my brother an I's relationship and we became as close as brothers can be! I love this band and Claudio without a doubt is a GENIUS!!
I've listened to these guys for like 14 years, but I think this is my favorite bit of art associated with them. It gives off a very 40k vibe which is awesome.
Me: Boy, it must've been difficult to go back to writing a concept and telling the story through music that sounds familiar and fresh at the same time. You know, pleasing the long time fans - maybe even winning some old fans back. Coheed: Actually, super easy: barely an inconvenience.
As someone who has kinda listened to their stuff in the past and always appreciated, but never got really into it, this song has sold me. This is my favorite song in their discography. It has some almost post-hardcore influences.
yea, i know they have had a few before, but this one overall sounds so much cooler to me. idk. I'll give their stuff a relisten soon, maybe my tastes have just changed a lot
I'm with you man. Coheed is my favorite band but post hardcore is my favorite genre. The screams, the guitars, the twists and turns in the songwriting, all very post hardcore lite. Im so happy.

Just hearing everyone in concert scream “CALL YOUR MOTHER” will be the absolute coolest thing on the planet. So excited for this tour and album
I just saw them last month and I can't wait to see them again. Nnngg... My body is so ready for this album and the next tour!!!
Saw them a week ago in Berkeley. It was nuts. Ready for another round already.
i thought seeing a few thousand grown ass humans counting to nine on their fingers was the best thing i had seen at least all week.
Saw them July 31st. They played a couple of songs from this album, but not this one. It's quickly becoming a favorite for me easily.
SuperPaperSquirps Saw em in Pittsburgh and it was THE BEST THING. EVER
Has to be my all time favorite song by them next to rise.
This is one of the best Coheed hooks and I will die on that hill.
You are not wrong. I’ll agree over my dead body. This one slaps. Among many along the fence.
it's their magnum opus
Please claudio, My body can only handle so much.... so good!

One of the best Coheed songs they have ever made.
Yes
Imo I can say that about 75% of their song.
The melody on the chorus is just *chefs kiss*

Joe Valenitni I completely agree. The quality of the music is unparalleled. After all these years they seem to be getting better.

BadHiVal black rainbow is their worst album. Mainly due to being produced into the ground. That’s why they started their own production studio.
Just recently found these guys and Im pissed that I've missed out on this band for years. Theyre amazing
In that case, I'm a little bit jealous of how much you have left to discover. And then their live shows when they come back....
Jesus well welcome...omg if I could go back n listen to Feathers for the first time. Enjoy.
This band got me through a month in a hospital bed in 2004. I was 17 lol. They've been epic for so long.
A lot of people associate this with their partner. I, however, do not. It's just absolutely genius.!!!!
"Dad can I go see Coheed?"
"Ask your mother"
"Mother May I?
