There is something very special about this performance of The Afterman. Deep, primal emotion. The zoom-in on Claudio at 25:30 on "I love you dearly, my friend" is one of the most truly human things I have ever seen.
Not much has changed my life but these guys have, I don't toss the genius about much, but the concept, the songs, graphic novels. Claudio Sanchez is a legit genius. Also an experience live.

A favor house Atlantic... That first verse, you can't get any better than that. Great singing, distorted guitar and a great driving rock beat with a piercing bell ride from the drummer. 👌👏
I agree he's a phenomenal drummer, but so was his replacement Chris Pennie. Ever listened to Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity? Lol. I think it's just a question of technicality vs groove/funk which Josh has a lot of.
@@drewbocop Yeah, it's just a feeling thing. Like when it comes to The Mars Volta I prefer Jon Theodore, over all of the others. He just fits perfect. Thomas Pridgen was almost too technical and there was something just off for me, even though he's an amazing drummer. It's also a matter of when someone found that band and the nostalgia attached to that. Tis life.
@@drewbocop Pennie 8s a phenomenal drummer. Nothing against him. But Second Stage Turbine Blade and Good Aplollo are 2 albums that taught me how to play the drums. And like someone else said, It was Josh playing them. His style just resonates with me. The drumming on good Apollo to me is perfection
@@SophiaAphroditethat it isn't overpowering the other instruments, the set up itself is so nice. Sometimes in live performances it's hard to get it to sound balanced. Especially indoors, in my opinion.
All in all ,the whole band in this live recording ( in a big Studio 😉) is Mixed and tuned perfectly! You can hear every Detail and however it sounds so fat and poweful!! Also No disturbing publicum ...for full enjoy of Listening
Probably the best version of Everything Evil in existence! They killed it on this performance. So tight! Great production. You must listen to this through studio monitors. Its so dang clean and loud.
It's a reassuring feeling to know the answer to: Who are the best band to ever exist, since the dawn of time itself and who will continue to hold this title until the final breath of the universe gently utters "We'll have you home pretty soon".
This is the performance that got me into C&C, back in 2018. I was doing dishes and whatever I had on youtube in the living room ended; this then started randomly playing. Halfway through A Favour House, I was sitting on the couch intrigued, and the rest is history. My only gripe is that they didn't play In Keeping Secrets. And yes, hall of fame performance of EE!!
This is actually from late '14 early '15 when it was new & premeired on Audience, but either way that doesn't change anything. Theres so many tracks that I could say they should've done, but the best live version of IKSOSE3 (at least available on dvd or UA-cam) would be their Live from Starland Ballroom show & release. After that im sure some of the performances from their multi-night Neverender Tour are damn good too. Just a great live band overall but their early stuff is on another level with original members, younger voice, etc. So watch that/those for IKSOSE3
Easily one of the best bands of the last 20 years. This line-up kills. Not only have they taken the audio and visual artistry of concept albums to new heights but the lyrical style of their melodies and harmonies always impressed the shit out of me compared to the guttural growling and "scream" singing more common to the power-chord genres.
Everything about this is so ridiculously good. This is the video that made me a real fan of the band. I love the albums. But they sound so much better live.
Neverender version is the best as the crowd mixed with the performance is great and the imprompt solo as the tempo speeds back up is just awesome. But this is still insanely impressive and the sound quality is beyond great.
Watching them in Atlanta last May was life changing. It blew my mind. Josh was so in the pocket it was insane. Knowing everything Josh went through, seeing him doing well and happy is wonderful. I’ve never been at another concert where every person in the crowd and every member of the band were just so happy to be there. The love in that room was palpable. I’ve gone through some serious shit and depression in my life. But it’s experiences like that concert that remind me life is worth living.
Josh's percussion style has always been THEE perfect fit for CO&CA. That being said, I had a tough time getting used to Zack's voice, Todd was a better backing vocalist, albeit a junkie.
Have seen them live a few times. Whoever their sound engineer is better be getting paid well lol. One of the best bands I've seen live. Every time they have been great.
The other replies are right, sound engineers are a whole other monster. But I think a lot of it is that it's a relaxed environment. They're not all over the stage entertaining, just playing their music ya know? Like a jam sesh.
oh shit, so the recording studio allowed Claudio to hit those high notes. That is comforting to someone who is tryna reach their range, but feels more of a baritone.
Why no Blood Red Summer? I always thought that was one of their main big hits. Also The Suffering. They do sound absolutely phenomenal though. That lead singer's voice has aged so good.
It's so adorable when they do everything evil and Travis and Claudio are singing "Claudio-o" together bc they are best friends
Whoever mixed the sound on this session did a stellar job wow!!!
Agreed - production is amazing.
@@macktheknife21 sounds solid to me
For real, this sounds fantastic
I think the same thing every time I listen to this. The guy/girl or whoever did this should have gotten a pay raise.

That is exactly how a drum kit should sound

So fucking good. Cranking the guitars up makes this song sound amazing.
I miss Claudio's nasal vocals but I guess his voice just deepened as he aged, as well as not properly taking care of his voice during his 20s.
I’m going to have to agree with you on listening to the best sound equipment.
Yea agreed. Claud nailed the vocals and everything sounds clean
I couldnt agree more..
Thank you for uploading this, I have played this countless times today during my work from home work!
Best live Coheed show i've seen aside from actually seeing them live in person. Claudio's voice is so pro and full of feeling this whole performance.
To make that voice sound like that live is an absolute feat
The energy is unreal
This version of The Afterman always brings tears to my eyes.

This is so amazing, each song is the best version of that song they have done
How come this band isnt much much bigger ???

The band so good, I named my two kids after their characters.
They all smashed this performance but Claudio's vocals are INSANELY good here
The smoothest version of The Afterman 💚
Whenever i listen to CC, i cant help but be reminded of Geddy Lee. Its like theres similarity in their voices that just sticks in my mind.
I’ve heard that comparison but honestly don’t hear the resemblance.
Amazing band salute
This is too sick, especially Everything Evil.
where was this energy when I saw them in 2009?
Thanks man! Probably mad good show Peace
Please can we have this Coheed back?
Holy shit this is the first time I've seen Claudio actually use the 12-string neck on Welcome Home
How does a live show sound this amazing??
That's how good Coheed is. Amazing band! Not a smidge in their discography...
They are a great band but I believe there is some sound engineering magic going on here.

Claudio got that Wayne's World special!!!
Did this video get taken down for a while? I was looking for it a maybe a couple weeks ago, and could only find clips and snippets.
I want to re learn to play drums left handed. That's how badass this looks 🤘
It’s kind of odd that this live session is a LOT better than the studio versions of these songs!
Especially “Welcome home”.
He's high like Geddy Lee. actually they're both comparable which is really cool
I only wish they would have held on Travis’s hands as much as they did on Claudio’s.
17:02 as I'm watching them both absolutely shred the solo for Welcome Home.. you're right. Claudio is amazing, but Travis is right there with him
oh shit, so the recording studio allowed Claudio to hit those high notes. That is comforting to someone who is tryna reach their range, but feels more of a baritone.
Just goes to show that you can be a heavily touring and recording vocalist and not ruin your voice as you age!
