As someone who chose the Flame on my first playthrough... Then had to "ponder" my decision afterwards... "May Chaos take the world......"
its such an interesting ending too, definitely lived up to the whole "chaos" thing XD. may chaooooos TAKE the worrrld

@@AlexCatable I think all of us kinda agree, none of the endings are good: all have consequences. The biggest problem with the standard ending is the Erdtree and the Greater Will. The Will is a selfish god that only seeks its own gain, and has forced the world into a state of neverending death and decay. The Erdtree forces souls to be recycled, meaning no creature can ever truly rest in peace. Each ending has you take up the role of Elden Lord, as you watch over this painful cycle and continue it. Ranni’s ending isn’t any better, as she just leaves the world to rot.
The frenzied ending, though dark and obviously evil, isn’t as bad as you think. “No more births, no more sickness.” Burning the world down forces a hard reset, curing the world of its death cycle and letting everyone rest in peace. The Greater Will burns, and the pain ends. But, it is not necessarily the end. Just a reset. Some god may come back and revitalize the world, or it may start itself. (Melina was still alive and Leyndell was still standing, so clearly the ending doesn’t burn everything.)
Bad ending it may be, I find myself choosing it each time because I sympathize with the frenzy. Melina doesn’t deserve to die to satisfy the Greater Will. The Merchants never deserved to be buried alive for their beliefs. The world doesn’t need to suffer under Marika. But, that is just my viewpoint. My “lesser of two evils.”

In my opinion Melina gave her most poetic lines in trying to stop our "wild curiosity" from dragging us further down that dark pit. The (literal) falling into madness and chaos
Melina went from being the level up girl to a really interesting and thought provoking character in this ending which is awesome :D

My favorite thing about Elden Ring's endings is that they all give you cause to wonder if you're doing the right or wrong thing. There are arguments for each one, but none of them appear to be objectively bad in that sense.
Seeing the entombed merchants, learning of the apathy of the Greater Will, the obsession of the Demigods to the detriment of everyone else... it scratched that Nihilistic itch for me. It made me feel that I was truly ending the reign of terror and suffering of the Lands Between while also resetting the world for a better one to be born from the ashes.
Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder, and this ending was tragically beautiful to me.
What people dont get is that there is NO RESET after the frenzied flame. It burns everything away, no rebirth. End of the cycle.
You said it better than I could have. This is how I feel about it too.
“You would never understand Melina... but think. yes life continues, but that life is doomed. Doomed to fight to survive as I do, staying awake throughout their nights wondering if they’ll live to see morning. the land itself is dying, rot churns below liurnia, as does it spread from caelid, not only that but the Erdtree itself is dying, how long does it have before Godwyn and his blight consume it? How long until that very same life you speak of no longer exists because the very land itself is unable to sustain it? With the flame of frenzy I give the world a chance to start anew. yes the land will be destroyed, but with all that oppresses it gone it gives the land a chance to heal, to do as a Phoenix does and rise from the ashes more beautiful than before. new life can be birthed, life that will not know the struggles of what was and will only know the hope of what can be. Is it not as you said? Life endures.”

A smart lord of frenzy flame takes it knowing there end. Knowing that there reign will be short. But that it will burn brightly and cleanse the rots away so that a true lord can claim it and begin the world anew
When the forest grows too wild the cleansing flame is inevitable. May Chaos take the world.
Just as the flame will return all to the crucible, so shall the crucible be compelled to divide, distinguish, and grow anew, causality and regression, a cycle, a chain, a link that does not break so easy

On my first playthrough, I accepted the flame of frenzy, then burned myself, then got rid of the flame of frenzy and ended up choosing Ranni’s ending. So I didn’t have to do the Flame of Frenzy ending, and I didn’t have to burn Melina either.

i also feel like this should be a different ending because its a rather long process if you get the needle to cure yourself of frenzy

And yeah, not only did he get played, but when you first meet him in the Mountaintop of the Giants, or wherever it is that he’s taken over the body of Yura, after he yells out his “LET CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD!” I killed that fool right then and there. I was pissed about him killing Yura and I was not about to let this bastard run loose in The Lands Between, shouting out that nonsense everywhere he went

She will more than likely use the destined death to kill us as we (the lord of the friendzied flame) are the new god, much like how we used it to kill the radagon and the elden beast (the prior god).

Damn. Between this and that one video where someone put a cover of the merchant song over the ending cinematic, I just cannot stop loving the sad beauty of this ending.
i hope they add back Kalè's merchant questline in shadow of the erd tree, that labyrinth of merchant corpse' on the way to the three fingers always gives me chills and id love to see it more explored in the lore

I like how the Shabriri sells this ending to you by making you out to be some hero for "sparing" Melina and buring yourself. But actually, you are robbing her of her purpose and plunging the world into chaos. Something she absolutely doesn't want to happen. The only reason she allies with you in the first place is to get her up there, and she can be the kindling. I just find it funny is all. Especially the fact that ppl actually think that they are "saving" her.

When I beat the game I debated on the Frenzied Flame Ending or The Age of Stars and I just didnt feeling like it was right to burn the world I thought everyone deserved a chance to make a choice of their own so I sided with Ranni (Dont worry Frienzied Flame was my second ending because i needed to finish that questline)
