How long between coats do you wait for the slick stick, do you wait 2/3 hours or overnight? I love your videos!! by the way I am Sonia Adams-Benjamin is my son, I have to figure out how his name showed up on here LOL
Hi there, Sonia! We recommend waiting 2-3 hours between coats to apply your next coat of Slick Stick.
Great informative video. Now, I'll be able to update a ugly piece of furniture into a modern day look. Thanks !!
We love a furniture makeover! We're so excited for you to do one!
Amy this old dog is always learning new tricks, tips and techniques from your video tutorials!!! Thank you so, so much❣
Quick question! I understand the purpose for using either Slick Stick or Boss. Have you ever used "both" on a piece prior to painting it? If so which one did you use first?
As soon as my Dixie Belle products arrive I will be breathing new life into my vintage mahogany dinning table and plan to do a light sanding then use Boss to avoid bleed-through. I have yet to see a tutorial where both have been used but the question came to mind and thought I would inquire about it! 🤔
Hi there! Great question! You can use both BOSS and Slick Stick on a piece. Slick Stick is used for pieces with a more slippery surface to help the paint to better adhere. BOSS is used to block odors and stains and stop bleed thru on a piece.
Thank you Barbara !! Yes, there are situations where you might want to use both Slick Stick and the BOSS. Slick Stick is formulated with a bonding agent for the purpose of priming a glossy / slippery surface to be paintable and the BOSS is for blocking odors, stains and bleed throughs. So you may have a glossy mahogany piece with an oil stain on it , scratches through the glossy top coat exposing wood tannins or has a nicotine smell to it.....I'd first prime it with Slick Stick making it a surface that paint can grip onto (I usually do 2 coats) , then you would apply the BOSS to problem solve the other issues (smell, stains, bleed throughs). With your mahogany piece, if you are doing a light sanding you will definitely need to use a couple coats of BOSS because mahogany is prone to bleed throughs. I hope this helps and thanks for watching and commenting. I will be doing a tutorial in the next couple weeks on doing a dining room table and chairs step by step :) If you have questions about your project you can message me on my facebook page (Ajs Vintage Designs).
Amy I genuinely appreciate your comprehensive response❣ Not only will I benefit from it going forward but no doubt so too will many others!
Will be looking for that video. 😊
Yes, love the spatula. Where to buy???

Do you always need to use slick stick underneath the mud or can you put mud on top of a regular varnished surface?
Hi there! We recommend using Slick Stick on any slick or smooth surface for better adhesion of the products. You can apply mud directly on to a piece that is more matte and not smooth.
