    You are my most favorite to watch as you tell exactly what and how you take a piece from plain to a completely new beautiful price of furniture that I have found many sitting on the street with a sign stating take me before I get taken to the dump! I always think about those I didn’t see that I would have loved and it literally hurts my heart to think of what ended up there that I would have loved to give it a new life! Thank you for your simple way of explaining everything you do so we can easily understand! God bless you and I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas, God bless you always!

    This was an excellent video on how to use each of these products, especially the Gator Hide. We sell it, but so far I’ve only used it mixing in another additive like caviar over a black finish. I’ve heard it’s got a steep learning curve. I feel much more confident now.

    Hi Amy, great tutorial! Your piece looks great. I tried using the blue sponge technique using Gator Hide and applying it over white paint. It did leave a lot of stroke marks. I'm thinking my sponge was to wet and i over worked the GH. I wanted to share what I did to see if you could help me figure out what I did wrong.
    1. I put my faucet on in my sink and wet my blue sponge. I squeezed all the water out of my sponge until I could not squeeze any more water out of it.
    2. I put the flat side of the sponge in the GH and scraped off some of the GH.
    3. I then went in a back and forth motion over the flat painted surface of my end table.
    4. I let the piece dry, lightly sanded the piece and reapplied another layer of GH and still saw sponge strokes. 😞. However, I did leave the sponge sitting in the empty Tupperware container with a lid on it and did not wash it when I reapplied the GH.
    Can you possibly tell me were I may have gone wrong and why I got the sponge strokes? I look forward to your feed back. 😁

    • @DixieBellePaint
      @DixieBellePaint  5 років тому +2

      Hi Stacey! When using Gator Hide, allow your finished piece to completely dry. Apply very thin coats of Gator Hide in one direction only. Don't back brush when you apply the thin coats and less is more. Let it dry and after 2 hours, then re-apply. Let it dry 2 hours again and repeat this up to 3 thin layers to get the water repellent finish. We recommend using our blue sponge and keeping it dry. A 48-hour dry time recommended. Hope this helps!

    Hi Amy, thank you for some great videos. I was introduced to NPGS by Christina Mercari. I have an antique oak dining table that I used the Picklin White gel stain. I have applied 4-5 coats, I lost count. It is not covering the wood( was prepped really well before stain). I thought with several coats it would be a more solid color. I have decided to switch to paint. Can I use the DB chalk paint and what type of finish would I use? I don't really want to invest a lot more time or money on this table. Thank you!

    How often to you spray your brush with water?

    • @DixieBellePaint
      @DixieBellePaint  5 років тому +1

      It's really only necessary to spray your brush when you start to feel it drag the paint while you're painting. You don't want it to be too wet! Just slightly damp enough to help move the paint around on your surface.
