Bro it all depends on who u r , what goals you have (what usage, what's at stake), what time & skill you have (& can spend) in the field, what values you have (what's important/priority, acceptable /not) , & who you defined as your ennemies (anyone, intruders, indepdt hackers, spying companies & data brokers, govnmts, C!ª, F₿!, N$ª, Rµ$$!ª, Chinª... or several at once). Ideally yes we should avoid, but we don't have 3 lifetimes in 1 to figure everything out, & some of it could actually be either fear mongering (don't think so but not omniscient), or just irrelevant (what would it've chgd to your life exprc?). Better solutions in term of privacy always have other drawbacks (which I'm trying to figure out for myself, but as stated above, not everyone can afford to), in term of skill, maintenance, infrastructure (cables, NAS...), security (encryption end to end...), scalability & potentially cost (depends, can even be better)... So it's not straight forward. A bit like getting into Linux, so many pitfalls everywhere.
