@@kian26master whenever you do have free time to play Ys X don’t wait for the upgraded version. The New version will have an entirely different story and new settings. Basically a brand new game. Just get Ys X and then get Ys X proud Nordics.
Not a fan of how stuff like DQ XI S or P5 Royal are handled, it feels like being punished for being an early adopter. I actually haven't picked up Ys X yet, so I guess I might as well wait xD Sky 1st looks amazing, though! And I'm glad it's gonna be on multiple platforms. I wish the western physical release wasn't so limited, though
This I agree with. I picked up DQ 11 and was miffed when the Switch got more content, they didn't even offer it as DLC on the PlayStation. I hope it doesn't happen again, or I will start to wait way later to buy their games.
As someone who never ends up complaining when Atlus releases an enhanced version of a game because I always play them at launch, I finally understand why people may be upset at announcements like proud Nordics. I bought the collectors edition of Nordics for PS5 and am very excited to start it once I finish the games I'm currently playing, but I now find myself considering if I should even start this game if another, better version will be released soon. That being said, Ys is such a phenomenal franchise that I'm just happy to get more of it! Just my 2 cents, but I think the fact that Atlus released episode Aigis as a DLC was a huge win for folks that may otherwise feel irritated by having to buy and play through the same game twice. So I do hope that proud Nordics is an expansion dlc in the west!
@@ArkAynJoel Even episode aigis should've been base content. For newcomers sure it's fine but for old persona fans no. I never liked sales tactics like these it always rubs me the wrong way it's also why im glad i haven't bought ysx yet.
I can’t lie, for players in the west the Ys X news feels kinda… not great. We just got the base game which yes, is old news now for the Japanese audience. But they definitely knew they were expanding the game with this newer better version before releasing base Ys X this fall outside of Japan, but hid the truth so as to not impact sales… I’m a huge Ys and falcom fan, I’m excited for both of these franchises, but I can’t ignore this not great feeling for this news specifically
As long as they don’t charge full price for the additional content (which they probably might) but I’d pay for some DLC if it’s a reasonable price. I just don’t have faith because they didn’t have upgrade paths for PS4 to PS5 games and just straight up charged for new versions. I guess we’ll wait and see.
I’m excited for more Falcom, but mannnn I’m kinda burnt by this with Nordics. It feels like such an Atlus move. I literally just started Ys X yesterday, I barely got 8 hours into before this news hit. I really hope it’s not a full game, but rather an expansion. It feels like a bullshit move on their part, especially since Ys X JUST came out in the west. It’s bad, and not very consumer friendly. I am REALLY enjoying Nordics, it feels like VIII, but I’m not sure if I even want to keep going at this point if we are getting an Atlus-esque updated version. With Trials, super stoked for that. I have always wanted to get into the massive franchise and this feels like a great opportunity to get into it with the remake.
I'm really not a fan of these surprise expansions coming out two years after the game. It doesn't instill consumer confidence in buying new titles at day one, and it's becoming a joke to just wait a couple of years for the "Golden/Royal" version to come out.
Yeah, these updated versions like Persona really don't sit well with me. It's the same as the western devs who release unfinished products, if this was the vision, wait and release it completely on day 1. Persona 5 royal etc gets so much praise and I feel left out having played the original and I play WAY too many games to ever go back and replay a 100 hour epic for an adjusted story.
@ While I do think the updated versions of SMT and Persona games are the best versions of them, it would most certainly be a much better practice if those were the versions that originally released. It’s a cash grab.
@@BacklogBattle @backlogAgreed. It’s a reflection of the enshitification of the gaming industry as a whole, and I thought that at very least Falcom would be one of the companies to stay away from that practice. I stand corrected lol.
I hope Proud Nordics has a Switch 2 version. I heard from The Kiseki Nut that it's also meant to be a stepping stone for Falcom's plan to have multiples releases every year starting 2026.
I'm a tad annoyed. I pre-ordered Nordics, but I haven't played it yet. So I'll wait to see what they say about Proud for the West. If we get it, I'll be pre-ordering that as well 🥴 but I probably won't play Nordics then I'm very excited for Trails in the Sky!
Im in the same boat, i preordered the game but havent played it yet. While the new version sounds cool, i personally dont think it was a wise move from Falcom since many people have already bought the previous version, its kinda a of a greedy move on their end. They took a page out of atlus with this one.
@azureknight729 I agree. The game was literally just released for some of us. If I had played Nordics right when it was released, like I planned I would be pretty upset. I wouldn't even buy the new version. I randomly decided to play Romancing Saga 2 instead
Can't wait for Trails in the Sky! Happy that we at least have a release window now. It looks visually stunning and the hybrid RTC/Turn based gameplay is an awesome choice, as games like Metaphor prove that it can work. Years ago I purchased Cold Steel at launch and put about 40 hours into it, and I loved the world, story, and characters. And the sheer amount of praise I've seen about Sky has me really excited to jump into the original Trails game. Likely will get it on the PS5, as I want to ensure I get the highest framerate and resolution for this one.
I already beat Ys X when it came out in the U.S., but I had no problem playing Ys 8 or Ys 9 a couple of times, so I can play Ys 10 again when the extra stuff comes out. I'm GUESSING the extra stuff can just be downloaded like DLC once it's avaiilable.
I hope all this 'Proud' extra content for Nordics is DLC. Base Nordics is on sale on PS5 and I want to get it. I mean if it's coming out in Japan in 2025 Proud Nordics might not even come out for the West until late 2025 or 2026. So maybe 2 years before the West sees it.
It kind of feels like going and making expanded content for ys10 could be kind of cool if it's marketed as like an expansion for the game. I already own ys10 nordics and I wouldn't mind added content.

As much as I love the Ys series (though I did think 9 was a small step back), I still haven't picked up X because of the fact that I have such a backlog this year, due to all the massive RPGs that have come out. I guess this makes Ys X a 2025 game for me now because I might as well wait to see if they plan on localizing this new version.
I'm worried that the new publisher is going to make it difficult for the game to be released on GOG, that's the place I have all previous Falcom games and they have Daybreak 2 announced to be released there next year by NISA. About Ys X Proud Nordics, I'm not sure this was a good annoucement (even if it is for Japan) when the original game just recently released here in the west, but I guess that Atlus made it work so they will try too. I would have hoped that maybe wait a little bit more to make this annoucement.
I bought Ys X and was planning on playing it over the holidays, but I wasted my money... Falcom's announcement of the enhanced version made the original version completely obsolete... I am so disappointed, especially because they just released the version in the west like 2 months ago... But what I've learned is to never buy a Falcom game on release ever again. Playing YS X as of this moment... and it felt like... "oh great Falcom does Atlus" which comes off like the game as it is, is incomplete... but hey, it is a blast to play still
