this game is so underrated
For those knocking the quality of the guitars that come in the "complete packages", they are completely missing the point. You can buy the game without their guitar. Unlike Guitar hero, you can use a real guitar or bass with Rocksmith. Any guitar or bass. So if you own a $2k guitar or a $50 guitar you can use it with Rocksmith. You just need the cable that comes with the game.
My $299 Sterling Bass works great with this game. So does my buddies $1500 Musicman Bass. And so does the $99 Starcaster Guitar I gave my nephew for Christmas. If it has a pickup, it will work.
The problem is when you can't get the cable xdd
They are widely available online if you need one. I bought a bunch off eBay for a fraction of retail.

isoft has announced that it is bringing Rocksmith 2014 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 4th, and according to the company over two million people have played the game already. If you’re not familiar with the Rocksmith series it’s one where you can learn to play guitar. You plug in your guitar or bass to your PC or console via a cable that comes with the game, and from there you play mini games, learn notes, chords, and songs with the the difficulty rising as you get better. I’ve played the original release and it has helped me a bit to learn the guitar.
The new gen version of the game will have better graphics, as well as allow players to stream their performances. Players who own the PS3 and Xbox 360 copies of Rocksmith 2o14 will be able to transfer over the DLC they have already purchased, as long as the consoles are in the same family. Remote play will also be supported and this will allow Vita owners to study songs from the game, or just certain sections of them, so you can practice though obviously without any input so there won’t be any in game progress.
Yes, the DLC songs automatically transfer for free from the original Rocksmith to Rocksmith 2014 Edition, as long as you're playing on the same platform for both. You can also import 52 of the on-disc songs from the original Rocksmith for a $10 relicensing fee.
I am not usually shilling for companies, but this software is really amazing and does exactly what it states. I wish more of that kind existed totally revolutionary!!! Well done UBI!

Looks like its time to dust off the ol' electric guitar and get serious. I was wondering what version of this I should buy, but the newest one looks like a no brainier. Thanks for putting out software like this.
It's 80$ with the cable if you already own a guitar. You can get the guitar bundle which has a guitar and game etc.. everything you need for 200$. Hope this helps everyone that's been wondering.
Most of the people there had an idea of how to play the guitar or even hold a guitar, which I have no idea, haven't touch a guitar in my life lol but I like to listen to all those talented people, I just really like the idea of this :D

@Oliver Larholt Yes you can. I have learned alot through the first Rocksmith but this one has more improvements so I would say get this one rather than the first one it WILL help.

But you need dedication for that. They're pitching a game that can easily get any kind of beginner into playing the instrument promising quick ability and at the same time try to provide for the experts too. I doubt the same amount of people that will get this have the time or patience to do your idea. And the game looks fun as hell.

Easely said, rocksmith can be a substitute for a teacher. Not the guitar. If you really want to learn, you get a good guitar (i'm talking about a 150-300 price range) and then you get a 80 dollar teacher which still doesn't substitute mine but let's me learn a lot of new songs.

Looks like it just teaches you how to play songs. I can learn by browsing tabs online or buying tab books at a music shop.
Never been too much into guitar, but this really looks cool. I mean, if it truly is as good as people say it is.

So far they've said it will be available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC/Mac. Hopefully PS4.

I have the 2013 version and I love it but I still prefer opening up a tab and learning a song myself and I do that more often than playing the actual game itself however the mini games for scales are absolutely brilliant!
Brilliant, i'll be getting it then :3 That was my only complaint with the original RS, but, it did teach me to confidently play bass so i shouldn't really complain :P
The game need to appeal to everyone but they'll surely add more songs(including metal songs) into the game later through DLC.

Either will work, as long as it has a 1/4" jack for the cable to plug into.
Help! I bought this game and a new electro acoustic guitar which allows you to plug an amp with the jack cable. Is there a way to calibrate an electro acoustic with this game??? As I have seen people playing it with other guitars that proper electric guitars.

I think it works with total newbies too. Some of the beginner demos they showed had like 1 note every 4 seconds, thats literally just putting a finger on a string and hitting it once every 4 seconds. That sounds easy enough to start with. You would probably have to follow another lesson program too, like justinguitar . com (check it out!). If you wanna learn then buy a cheap guitar and learn. Justin guitar is free and will start you off and this will make it fun.

There is a mission I am trying to pass. it says play a rocksmith recommends. where is it and how do you know that it is? tried everything.
Sort the track list by "recommended" and play the top one on the list.

Shadowspy ...Quick responce.I bought a acoustic pick up and a double female 1/4 inch plug adaptor. plugged my acoustic into one side and usb adaptor in the other side and works and sounds great!!!

Its not, its the same as a tablature, the best way to learn guitar! And I think session mode is great for me.

if you already know how to play the game is kinda boring so keep that in mind. i got the first one thinking it would be a blast but its actually kind of tedious. but thats just my opinion. im sure if ur getting it to learn how to play your experience will be very different
