List of things to never forget: The Alamo Reach Aliens Vs. Predators (so that we never repeat the past) Ultimate Spider-Man: the video game Edit: oh and the Fifth of November
ItsMichaelReid I feel like adults act like that a little to much I'm sixteen but I remember having and still a VCR with batman beyond on scarface godfather1-2 Rio grande Monty Python old roasts and many others. I mean I have a giant cardboard box filled with them. Maybe its just my circumstance but it feels like only kids under 12 wouldn't know what they were
Note about the game and its ties to the comic: Silver Sable figures out Spider-Man's identity in the game, but when she later appears in the comic, she doesn't know him. So it doesn't exactly tie in, but it is still worth a play-through if you like Ultimate Spider-Man. Side-note: I always found it strange that the comic covers had him with the white spider symbol even though he didn't get it until much later.
I'm willing to bet that it was supposed to be canon at the time of it being made but became its own separate thing as opposed to being part of continuity, which is always bound to happen in comics and anything relating to it.
The ultimate spider-man cartoon was partially based off something that happened in this book series , namely Nick Fury says he wants to train Peter Parker using shield to become one of the greats. In the comic he explicitly says "But only after you hit 18 years old" in the cartoon its if nick didn't really care so he recruited and trained teens anyway.
They also used at least one story from the comics for an episode. The one where Logan and Peter switch bodies, though the original culprit from the comic story was Jean Grey, but the show opted to use what is either a z-list villain that no one cares about or someone they made up called Mesmero.
1:04:43 Ben saying that makes me think that when Peter goes to pick up a Volkswagen Beetle in the game, that's how we're introduced to the Ultimate George and his nagging wife.
Thank you Sal for giving context to 1) the Ultimate Spider-Man game, because I could never figure out if/where it fit into continuity, and 2) the book itself. As a teen reading this, I was really confused by a few of the 2000s Bendis kitchy dialogue lines, and moreso the weird timejump(s) and surreal moments when Pete has the black suit. Did NOT understand why he thought he saw Uncle Ben’s killer, why it jumped from night to day, or what the suit was actually doing to/for Pete and Eddie. And hey, after watching, I’m still not convinced Bendis really knew what was going on, but regardless, it’s a fun chapter full of beautiful art!
Got the notification for this at the gym... I started watching having already biked 6 miles but I didn't stop until the video was over. This distracted me for 14 more miles lol. Love you guys
In the Ultimate Universe, May Parker was the sister of Mary Parker, so she is a blood relative of Peter. BUT in 616, Ben is Richard’s Brother. The change was unnecessary in my opinion.
Hey it’s the Ultimate Spider-Man on the Ultimate channel featuring the most ultimate of hosts who make the most ultimate of comments commenting on the most ultimate of comics! It’s amazing! No wait that doesn’t sound right...
If I had one kryptonite to studying for exams, it's definitely Back Issues. But Kryptonite shall not beat me this day! To the Watch Later list with you.
These Ultimate videos bring me so much nostalgia. When as a kid I was buying Ultimate Venom arc as an ongoing it was the hypest shit ever. Still this and Ultimate Clone Saga are my favorite stories from this run.
I love how they think that the parkers died in the plane crash early on, when in actuality the hulks first appearance killed them, nick got some splaning to do
Ultimate venom is really cool cause it's like a fusion of anti-venom and venom. Its meant to be the cure for cancer which is what Eddie was dying of in the 616 and then he becomes venom. Fast forward to him becoming anti-venom and he now can cure anyone of any disease including himself....right before spider-verse happened lol. Note: I know anti-venom came out after this volume but it's still cool to see the seeds of what would become anti-venom in the 616.
This was actually my first ever comic book. It still feels good to go back and read it every once and a while. That being said, didn't Ultimate Origin show Peter's parents were dead when he was a baby? Did Bendis not care for HIS OWN CONTINUITY?
Kevin Rivera After doing your recommendation, I only found that they were severely injured, so I retract my earlier statement. Now I'm thinking how lucky they were to survive an encounter with the Hulk.
PriceyYeti40 Yeah, true lol. Don’t know if you know this, but it was thanks to baby Peter that Hulk was able to stop it’s rampage. Found that pretty cool.
You guys should do ComicPop Plays as a lets play channel. I know Tif did it a couple times but those were one off's, I'd love to see you guys do an episodic format where you play through the whole game. You three have good chemistry and I think that'd it'd work well as a Let's Play.
I love you all at ComicPop, and I want you to know that I love the Ultimate Spider-Man series with an actual burning passion. Thank you for still going with it.
Hey Sal I’m pretty sure the web formula that Peter develops was his dad’s basis for the Venom suit in the ultimate comics. In the first couple of issues Harry asked Peter what the formula on the chalk board was and pretty sure he says that it was a formula that his dad was working on for a long time. Peter believes it was for an adhesive but if you connect the dots everything Richard Parker was working towards was the suit
Sal I love when you do anything from the Ultimate Universe(This was the best "Ultimate Marvel" Back Issues yet!!), please do more Spidey, Ultimates and hopefully one day you could get into X-Men and Fantastic Four
It's so funny watching you explain ancient technology like VHS, when I come from the generation that grew up knowing what VHS and a VCR is. My, how things have changed.
To me I also feel they could have kept the alien/space element of the symbiote/Venom by maybe saying that their dads discovered a meteor that had these strange organisms/bacteria that mixed and acted strangely towards other microorganisms on earth and so the 2 tested on these organisms over and over again eventually mixing them with other compounds and elements eventually creating this black goop that essentially was alive and could seriously help people. But after doing what they do in the comic, they learn that through their prodding and testing, they essentially evolved the organisms far beyond what they were before into this symbiotic creature that eventually becomes this giant monster.
In canon, ultimate spider-man's spider sense is waaaaaaay weaker than 616 spidey's. In ultimate, the spider sense barely warns peter of coming danger and is shown to be quite fallible. Regardless, great episode!
I really like the possible mechanics of the suit, despite that they never explained to deep. Ironically, the symbiote actually does exactly what It is supposed to do: It consumes living cells and substitute them for Itself. It actually does better: It can make you super-human. The problem is that It is taking It to far. Because of a basic level of sentience and a insatiable hunger, instead of only devouring sick cells It ends up devouring It's host completely. The only reason Eddie doesn't die It's because he starts to eat other people to satiate the creature.
1:02:13 Actually Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 23 kinda adapted the game’s plot for the comics. Except they named it after “War of the Symbiotes” from the Clone Saga.
Never forget the Ultimate Spider-Man video game.
ComiXProvider FTW_02 i loved that game!
Ditto.
ComiXProvider FTW_02 Best Spider-Man game
List of things to never forget:
The Alamo
Reach
Aliens Vs. Predators (so that we never repeat the past)
Ultimate Spider-Man: the video game
Edit: oh and the Fifth of November
Nick Grimes Nice
A new episode of Ultimate Spider-Man! You know what that means?
Someone's gonna complain about not getting the next volume by next week.
PriceyYeti40 But I need it!
*Slinks from behind garbage bin*
I need my hit of Ultimate Spider-Man!
Dude I've been waiting on this since i found their videos lol
That's great and all but when is the next back issues on ultimate Spider-Man. It's only been a couple of hours since the last one!
Yeah, and it’s gonna be me
PriceyYeti40 True shit 😂
That absolute Spider-Man joke aged like wine
Never realized how much The Spectacular Spider-man cartoon took from the Ultimate Spider-man book for the Eddie brock/Venom story
Just the part of being childhood friends and their parents together actually, Ultimate Eddie and Spec Eddie are pretty different characthers.
The Venom plotline was at its absolute best in Spectacular.
Love how we have to explain VHS tapes now
I feel old
ItsMichaelReid I feel like adults act like that a little to much I'm sixteen but I remember having and still a VCR with batman beyond on scarface godfather1-2 Rio grande Monty Python old roasts and many others. I mean I have a giant cardboard box filled with them. Maybe its just my circumstance but it feels like only kids under 12 wouldn't know what they were
I think for kids born after 2005 they won’t remember it
@@dead0ntime not really. Me, my brother, and most of my friends remember VHS tapes and were born after 2005
you really don't. most people still know what a vhs tape is. just because something is obsolete doesn't mean everyone forgets what it is.
the "No Osbornes in this book!" confetti was a wonderful touch 😅
Note about the game and its ties to the comic: Silver Sable figures out Spider-Man's identity in the game, but when she later appears in the comic, she doesn't know him. So it doesn't exactly tie in, but it is still worth a play-through if you like Ultimate Spider-Man.

The Ultimate Spider-Man episodes are my favorite! I wasn’t even a Spider-Man fan until these. Best UA-cam channel.

Ben saying that makes me think that when Peter goes to pick up a Volkswagen Beetle in the game, that's how we're introduced to the Ultimate George and his nagging wife.
Just Some Guy with a Mustache what are you??
Me?
*turns around slowly* I'm just some guy with a mustache.
I would love to see a joke where Ben clicks the link above his head and disappears for a couple seconds
Thank you Sal for giving context to 1) the Ultimate Spider-Man game, because I could never figure out if/where it fit into continuity, and 2) the book itself. In the Ultimate Universe, May Parker was the sister of Mary Parker, so she is a blood relative of Peter. BUT in 616, Ben is Richard’s Brother. The change was unnecessary in my opinion.
Nitro Vision I know right.
It probably was Bendis not knowing how they were related so he said "Screw it, this is how it is now."
Greg Sanders
“Oh Bendis!
Bendis doesn’t care!
‘Bout standard comics fare!
He’s more concerned with Spider-Woman’s haaaairrr!”
You're right but Ben was also still Richards brother so the idea was that Peter would be blood related to both of them and not just ben
thahotkidd Oh yeeeaah
Watching these more than anything has made me want to breakout, old "Back Issues" and reread all this again.
Hey it’s the Ultimate Spider-Man on the Ultimate channel featuring the most ultimate of hosts who make the most ultimate of comments commenting on the most ultimate of comics! It’s amazing! No wait that doesn’t sound right...
I can't wait until they eventually do a Back issues on Ultimate Spider-Man's Clone Saga because it's so weird
Three things
1. Scarred Kaine Parker
2. Red Hairy Monster Mary Jane
3. Female Peter Clone AKA Jessica Drew
its weird but really good
i love ultimate jessica drew really underrated character in my opinion
Nitro Vision still less weird than the 616 universe Clone Saga
yup i can agree with that
If I had one kryptonite to studying for exams, it's definitely Back Issues. But Kryptonite shall not beat me this day! To the Watch Later list with you.
I doubt it. NOBODY CAN SAY NO TO BACK ISSUES! MwaHaHaHa!

"Yay, No Osborn bangers or conspiracies"
And the Clone Saga is actually pretty damn good in this series.
Matthew Kent I'm really looking forward to that arc.
These Ultimate videos bring me so much nostalgia. When as a kid I was buying Ultimate Venom arc as an ongoing it was the hypest shit ever. Still this and Ultimate Clone Saga are my favorite stories from this run.

Oh my god I just noticed you guys have my "Superman The Animated Series" toys I sent you in the background!!!!!! thank you and it looks so cool!!!!
I love how they think that the parkers died in the plane crash early on, when in actuality the hulks first appearance killed them, nick got some splaning to do
Wait wasn't it explained in the clone saga that those were fake and implanted memories
I don't think so but I haven't read ultimate spiderman clone saga in a while
“It’s been 84 years...”

Hey. I’m a Gen Z. But I remember VHS. My parents and grand parents used to use them. I used to watch Spongebob VHS tapes.
This was actually my first ever comic book. It still feels good to go back and read it every once and a while. That being said, didn't Ultimate Origin show Peter's parents were dead when he was a baby? Did Bendis not care for HIS OWN CONTINUITY?
I think they were just unconscious and in the hospital. I’m not sure, don’t remember.
Kevin Rivera I'm just going off what ComicsExplained said.
PriceyYeti40 Well, I cant blame you. Bendis is Bendis. He likes to have lots of freeway with continuity. Just do a bit of research, that’s all.
"Just throw all your problems into a smoke stack." - Peter Parker
I really liked the art style of Peter's PTSD nightmares. Looked so plastic and CG-like...
“Our fathers died to create me...and now...you will tooooo.”-Venom from Ultimate Spider-Man video game

Finally a Good Spider-Man story
no clones !!
Nitro Vision for now i enjoy
And that it made a Spider-Man game based on it.
True but they end up showing up The series tho 🤣
The Ultimate Spider-Man game was amazing!!! I had the special edition for PS2
Im proud that I've just turned 18 not that long ago and I remember using VHS tapes when I was younger.
35:32 They’re never gonna get over the fact that Venom ate a skrull
I love you all at ComicPop, and I want you to know that I love the Ultimate Spider-Man series with an actual burning passion. Thank you for still going with it.
I’m in love with this Ultimate Spider-Man storyline can’t wait for the next one! Awesome video as always guys
You guys gotta do the entire series

Sal I love when you do anything from the Ultimate Universe(This was the best "Ultimate Marvel" Back Issues yet!!), please do more Spidey, Ultimates and hopefully one day you could get into X-Men and Fantastic Four
Back issues really helps these rough days. Love you guys!

Ultimate Spiderman is back. Cool
Man Venom has a track record in the ultimate universe of discouraging people to be Spider-Man

It's so funny watching you explain ancient technology like VHS, when I come from the generation that grew up knowing what VHS and a VCR is. My, how things have changed.

Regardless, great episode!
Arham Hossain Everything is weaker in the Ultimate universe, professor X, wolverine's healing factor, Thor, Hulk, Dr. Strange, etc
I was having a bad day until I saw this
One of my favorite volumes ever!!!

Sal, you gotta add this to the ultimate Spider-Man playlist
WE’RE BACK BABY!!!!!
Jonathan Shaw see you in the next volume
Well looks like im getting nothing done at work for the next hour
I’ve been anticipating this video for so long! Thanks guys, you exceeded my expectations
I don't know if it's real, but Sal looks so freaking happy in that thumbnail that it warms my heart.
The moment Sal mentioned the green goblin chase missions I was having war flashbacks
*BURRRRRRN! ... BURRRRRN!* *_MOAR FIIIIIIRE!_* *GYEEHAHAHAA!*
Man I loved that Ultimate Spider-Man game as a kid
This is probably my favorite ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN story arc.
How do you guys find better and better outro music every time?! I'm digging this new one.
1:02:13 Actually Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 23 kinda adapted the game’s plot for the comics. Except they named it after “War of the Symbiotes” from the Clone Saga.
In today episode Sal shows his age. He and the gang explains what’s a VHS
Always the chilliest outro music.
Please have Ben read the Berserk manga so he can lead a Back Issues.
This series is the best. More ultimate Spider-Man
Ultimate Spiderman the game got me into comics. When I got it the game came with an issue of the comic.
I am addicted to Back Issues, it’s like a drug I can’t quit!
They kinda integrated parts of this story into the spectacular Spider-Man tv show
1:03:24 Maybe they'll use this for the new trilogy and venom 3. Maybe thisll be how he gets that symbol
Oh yes! Best birthday present yet!!!
New Ultimate Spider-Man Back Issues. But you can’t satisfy us, we still need Future’s End.
It’s confirmed to not happen, I’m sorry my dude.
Nick Grimes Yeah, I know, but people keep mentioning it and if you keep mentioning something...
I've never gotten a chance to read Ultimate Spider-Man but man it's amazing so far. I really need to pick it up!
Yess! I love Ultimate Spider-Man!
MORE of Ultimate Spiderman
YO dat beat at da end wuz MAD FAT fambo!
20:40 I understand that reference!
I need more aa! Always love your Ultimate Spider-Man recaps
The game was actually adapted into the comics in volume 21, it’s a little different, but overall it’s the same story
Personally I think the game did it better
7:52 i see what you did there..
the THEY LIVE line! Another reason why I love this fuckin' show. and ben's mel brooks' movie quoting ability, goes without saying
Oh, this is that Ultimate Spider-Man game! Man I love that game!
Awsome I was looking forward to this!
"It would cure you from being shot"..... Super Science!
Great episode!
The fact that you had to explain what a VHS is kinda...wow.
I thought the ultimate spiderman game was no longer canon cause bendis rewrote the story in comics.
Last night I was literally thinking about when we’d get another Ultimate Spider-Man episode so this is a nice surprise
43:55 We got smokestacks for clones! Smokestacks for genetic suits! Got a problem? Get a smokestack!
Great video!
I have been waiting for this!
What a coincidence, I was just watching the other Ultimate Spider-Man episodes yesterday
Holy shit, I actually lived to see this. Thank you guys, this is just what I needed!
Been waiting for this!
