Buy Spider-Man: Down Among the Dead Men (Marvel Knights Spider-Man) right here: amzn.to/2ijdt51
Bought it after watching the episode thanks
I love how Sal always gives a quick history lesson about the books he's reviewing before talking about the book itself.

He's an awesome story teller
@@ridge825 truly
Ben's face when her realizes his joke about Electro's preference is not a joke.
24:05 hilarious
L 😊
4 years later and this back issues is still just absolutely legendary for me, idk but this one I will always vividly remember watching for the first time.
“And Wanda, you don’t even have kids!”
“I had kids?”
*Avengers Disassembled ensues*
Quicksilver zombie time
24:06 - That moment when one of Ben's sex jokes actually turns out to be in the comic.
puppetchaos OH FU-
I rewatched that like 4 times and its still funny
"Yeah." (Deadpan)
(Joking face)
"Yes." (Deadpan)
(Joking face)
"Yes." (Deadpan)
I love whenever Ben is trying to make fun of the characters and he's actually right. His "WAIT. WHAT!?" face is priceless 😂😂😂😂
1 HOUR 26 MINUTES LETS FUCKING GO
I don't click on videos from any channel as quickly as I click on comicpop videos
A high school reunion where Peter meets people who went to school with him like Flash, Jessica Jones and such as well as their significant others (Luke Cage) could make for a great couple issue or two.
Or all the gossipy peers who were always talking crime
"The Kick-Ass of Spider-Man" yup pretty accurate.
That So Landon
No, this isn't the strange talents/legend/legacy of Luther Strode
And before anyone ask, the literal concept is what if Peter got powers but didn't have an uncle Ben
Bruh. An hour and a half? I'm about to order a pizza, pour some diet coke, and watch Back Issues as it should be enjoyed.
MysticalGreenBeanie You... you've got it together, man. Everyone, be like this guy.
Why not Coke Zero and Milky Way Midnights?
This came at the perfect time. I’ve been dealing with stress and emotional problems this week due to college exams, my boyfriend breaking up with me, and my first job starting tomorrow. Now it’s time to just relax and watch the best show on UA-cam, Back Issues.
Hang in there, my friend!
I’m sorry to hear that you have so much going on. It gets better though, I promise. Hang in there friend.
lewaproductions the entire population has got your back! best of luck tomorrow, you're going to kick ass! ✌
Its gonna get better trust me, just Got to get back up and get back in the fight.
i just went through a bad breakup too, back issues always cheers me up
It was me Peter. It was me all along!- Green Goblin, probably
"Aww son of a bitch!" - JJ jameson
Glad to hear I'm not the only one to think that lol
I j***ed you off at super speed so it seemed like you 🥜’d yourself, using my brilliance as a geneticist of course!
I love this part at 24:00 when Ben makes the Electro joke about him being into spiderman and Sal just looks at him with the most serious face saying "yes."
Seen this 3 or 4 times over the years and that always gets me LMAO XD
Omg that joke about shocker being outbid had me laughing harder than I have in a long time.
Nothing fixes a bad day like a new episode of back issues
Even if Peter had no suit underneath his clothes, he has "stashes" with suits, web shooters, etc. all around the city. ALL around the city. Just started watching. Came from comics explained and you guys' humor cracks me up. Keep it up.
As a huge wrestling fan when sal said wcw I died laughing
He shouldve just said NWO at that point.
Ian Penalosa that would be even funnier😂
“He’s got a bicycle”
I always erroneously thought that Marvel Knights was an edgy version of Marvel. Like Marvel Knights' Spider-Man was the type to have a motto like "Great power, then the bitches". I don't know why.
Is that a dbz abridged reference?
You are thinking of Marvel NIGHTS
@@rudrakshmalik7202 no, it’s a reference to the superhero movie
"Drug itself out of bankrupty" that's a rare thing, I think people drug themselves into bankruptcy
Well played
In the background, it looks like he is stepping on Mary Jane's head 🤔
You've gotta love the longer Back Issues! Keep up the great work, guys!
Heck kyeah
Another 15 minutes or so and we could have put this out in theaters. Back Issues: The Movie!
This is the only channel in which i can sit for an hour or longer without getting bored
+jmsolano0516 Thank you!
You guys skipped one of my favorite goblin/spider-man moments in this book. During the final fight, Peter essentielly says what the fuck man why? And norman implies that he fucks with spider-man so much because if peter is gonna reject him, he's going to make sure that the world never benifits from peter's brilliance. he even points out to him that he invented those web shooters when he was fucking fifteen, he's so god damn brilliant he could save the world with his intelect and brilliance, but since he rejected norman as a sort of father figure, norman is gonna make sure that he's always busy with this super villian bullshit so that he never gets to really actually help the world. i love that moment so much. so much more than the batman joker dynamic. batman joker is i exist because of you. but why? cause, why not. this is like you fucking asshole, if i can't have you, no one can.
1:03:12 Sal, for the first time ever in all my 19 years, I have pissed myself laughing. Good show!
Ben's reactions are simply amazing. That joke about the brothel is great, you should be very careful letting your imagination run wild.
Shocker leaving the auction in shame sounds like it would have fit well in Spencer's Superior Foes book
17:51 I can’t help but hit repeat!! Oh how this always makes my day better
Joe, do something with these characters
...and thats how One More Day happened
After Civil War comic, after Back in Black, and One More Day happens.
Asking Mark Millar to not date the book with specific references seems like a fool's errand. The Ultimates was basically Millar's Mona Lisa on this metric.
That King Candy impression is spot on
I love these long episodes. I feel like I'm hanging out and bullshitting with my best friends! Best part is when I can follow along when you do an arc I actually own. Keep up the great work guys!
The Norman letter scene works very well to me because it shows how unhinged he is and almost seemingly wants to befriend Peter.
There's nothing like coming home from a hard day at work, exhausted and feeling that existential dread of the meaningless of existence only to see a new back issues, click play, and before you know it a large grin across a face and expulsions of laughter last heard during a mel brooks marathon. gracias amigos.
Ben has now gained the ability to predict whats going to happen before Sal tells him haha
“Losers always whine about their best” oh lord I can’t watch that scene anymore without hearing Sal’s voice! Made it even better
Haha, I love how Ben keeps joking around only to find out that what he said actually happened in the comic.
This was the first Marvel series I read in full (as in I collected all 3 trades as they came out) so I have a lot of nostalgia for it. Curious to see Sal's thoughts.
I was just thinking last night "they should do marvel Knights on back issues, my dreams have come true
Probably one of my favorite Spider-Man stories, that I will always fondly remember
This was one of my first Spider-Man comics I read when I was jumping into comics
They actually renamed MK Spider-Man because they decided to get rid of the MK imprint on main Marvel titles. The label was taken out of books like Daredevil and Wolverine for instance. But it doesn't change the fact that Hudlin wrote a shitty run. Lol
26:26 "it's too on the nose"
You mean Mark Millars career in a nutshell
I freakin' lost it at the Aladdin reference. XD
1:03:22 still one my favorite moments in back issues history
To be fair when you’re working with someone a lot, you start developing feelings for them.
"Oh yeah I put down sod. It was all part of my evil plan" - favorite quote of the episode
What a great episode. This is the first comic I tried to read regularly when I was 9, after only picking up random back issues at atomic comics a few times. I only read 1-7 back then, but what a blast from the past.
This story isn't perfect, but I still think they were a little too hard on it. It's definitely one of the most entertaining Spider-Man stories I've ever read (and I've read many).
literally best show i watch every week, yes that includes television programming
+kitz richards Thank you!
ComicPOP omg!!!!! You reply to one of my comments, my day is made!!!!!
Hey comic pop keep the back issues coming these episodes just make my day 😊😊😁😁
I'm halfway through and Ethan is nearly dying but I'm loving it, great episode ComicPOP
Coming home from work , bought a gram check if there’s a new episode of Back Issues, I’m spending my night the right way :)
Terrific work & as always a 10/10, so happy I found you in early '22
This show is the best thing coming out of DC Rebirth!!!!
Sound like Ethan is practicing to become a villain at the end of the episode. Also around 38:50 something appears near Ben's mouth. sometimes looks like a lip ring. it disappears around 59:33. I like the new exit music, it reminds me of watching public access show. You all are great! Can't wait to see a back issues hosted by Ethan or Ben!
Thanks. No episodes hosted by Ethan or Ben, it wouldn't make any sense.
ComicPOP unless we wanted to hear about the 3 random issues of spawn that Ben read in 1994.
There were so many good references, and links to other enjoyable back issues. It was most radical
After Sal says there are other Marvel Knights Spider-Man stories but those are garbage Ben and Ethan's faces or priceless it was like wait this one isn't garbage
To be fair Kick-Ass is already kinda the Kick-Assification of Spider-Man
Before I watch this video, I want to say I intrigued by this story as I was reading it and by the end I had really enjoyed how it came together. Now to see what my boys at Comic Pop have to say.
i fucking love back issues. i hit like before the theme song finishes. keep it up guys allways great. even when its bad its sooo good.
The letter at the end from Osborn makes me think that Miller is trying to write it like a Love/hate relationship between Spider-Man and Green Goblin is the same as the relationship between Batman and Joker that they he wants to defeat Spider-Man but also is the reason for what he does.
Unfortunately this doesn’t really work for Green Goblin
You guys ripped it apart a lot more than I thought you would. In my mind, it has always been one my better remembered runs and one that I enjoyed. I wonder after watching this how much my opinion would be skewed.
College be stressing me tf out thank god for a Spider-Man back issues
1:03:23 funniest moment ever!!!😂😂😂
How many times has Ben made a joke about what happens and it immediately happens? I think I've seen him do it 5 times in the few episodes I've watched.
Black Cat has always been my favorite love interest for Spiderman
The story isn't that bad. Frankly, it is one of the better Mark Millar comic stories. It's not great, but it's certainly better than Civil war
101% Agreed sal need to chill out. I prefer to watch the mcu film version then read the comic anyday, civil war is the comic that kills marvel comics.
As usual, awesome ep, guys. Thank you.
Justice League: New Frontier, next? I mean, the movie came out and it is one of the coolest most recent JL stories.
The idea of marvel knights and Allstar is a good one: classics that are good jumping off points
Please do Batman Battle for the Cowl .!
Love the Show btw👍
Oh boy it's just what wanted to spend 1hr 26 mins and 34 secs doing. Hooray!
I actually love marvel knights Spider-Man. I still read it to this day. I liked the art in it
I really enjoyed this run because Millar gets Spiderman right and not go depressed or dark like his Wolverine run (which I love) and The Ultimates and Terry Dodson’s artwork fits so well for Spiderman and his one of my favorite artists on Spiderman/Marvel.
I love the page where spidey hits the green goblin with a mailbox! I laughed my ass off.
Spider-Man: Hush 🦇
37:25 I have always HATED this look for Venom. He doesn't need eyes inside of his eyes, just makes him look like a KISS themed superhero
I kinda like this look, but that is a great way of describing it
Hahaha Sinister Twelve Megazord!!!! With Electro as the Dickzord!!! hahahaha
Probably the best thing to come from this whole thing was Vulture's red and black costume.
24:13- Still the funniest Ben reaction I’ve seen since Batman Year One.
Hey ComicPop, when will you guys do another Ultimate Spider-Man episode?
Jonathan Shaw I second that
Month or two.
ComicPOP YES
ComicPOP At least it's confirmed now. Can't wait!
Jonathan Shaw I think they said every 10 Back issues they would do one
That Venom redesign looks like fucking Orca.
10:21 Bizarre timing watching this. This week was the 20th anniversary of the last WCW Nitro.
I'm going to go cry into my Faces of Fear thermos now
Almost to 100,000 views on this crazy story and quickly too!Congrats ComicPop!
I read this story when I was like 11 or 12 and remember liking it well enough. There were some cool moments.
Turns out this book is not great, but I could read it.. Art's mostly great and nostalgia's a hell of a thing.
And this has got to be one of the funniest episodes of Back Issues. Really loved the auction banter and Aladdin stuff.
That WCW reference tho lmao 🤣
WHERE THE BIG BOYS PLAY
“He’s got a bicycle!”
Man I needed this, I needed a good time this week
Love the run time and back issues
I love the shocker bit.
I love the longer episodes
The funniest transition ever lmao 19:08 to 19:22
I absolutely loathe the way that Mark Millar writes. Which makes this episode a real treat.
This imo is one of your guys best episodes as it was hilarious both from you guys and the book itself. Millar is a writer I'm always frustrated with cause for every Wolverine Enemy of the State, Old Man Logan and Kick Ass, you then end up with stories like this and Ultimate X-Men (the stuff he wrote anyways)
Yes! His wolverine stuff isn't bad... OML is a little much for my liking. Not a fan of the hulk incest family and i find it a little gratuitous. Personally HATE some of his books though. I hate his ultimate FF, ultimate Xmen and ultimates because they reek of 2000s edgy "I cam say the fuck word and talk about sex and have heroes MURDER and be racists" and its like woah pump the breaks.
I think red son is a good concept but never reaches the peak of the idea and divulged into grim authoritarianism that feels a little propagandistic like "yeah america is great you guys. See how much better the american superman is, he isn't a dictator" and that I don't think works, I think there's merit and it's close to saying somthing bur never reaches its potential.
@@NovastarDoughnut I agree with all of your points. Millar is very hit or miss. He's either really good or really bad.
He may be known for his edgy try hard nonsense, but God be damned if don't love Superman.
That last bit gives me shades of Scott Snyder's Joker/Batman relationship, but I feel like Snyder is really good at just making that part of the text of his stories. While this might be the how Miller interprets their relationship, it feels like he's added this after months of writing and decided this was some way to add a little bit of interesting flair to everything, but it kind of just rings hollow. Weird and very much something I'll choice to not accept into my head canon.
Millar is totally writing a Batman story. At one point Peter calls Black Cat "Miss Kyle." A few issues later they try to pass it off as a joke, but there was no joke. Millar called Black Cat by Catwoman's name and all the editors missed it. An all time goof and I can't believe these guys didn't go off on it.
14:20 Hey speaking of invasive students, Sal, weren't you in education for a while?
That Aladdin moment had me dead
51:24 Ethan replies with the most honest, heartfelt, truest thing ever to what Sal is talking about lol
24:00 Electro's Preference
18:53 oh is there a problem spidah-man. Best cliche thing ever.
