This really feels like how siblings grow up, they disconnect and get on with their lives, maybe its not like that for other people, but for me, I got a lot of siblings, and the eldest all did their own thing while I was growing up. They weren't really involved in my life, wasn't until recently when we're all grown up that we reconnected. I dunno, I guess I"m trying to say we all transition in life in our own ways, some of us face more adversity than the others; but we all experience growth differently, and evolve differently. But never forget your brothers, your sisters, even if its simply giving em a call. We all go through shit, and we gotta have each others backs. Put one up for your Brothers! (and sisters too nd)

His art is like a warp zone cheat code & becuz the uNiVs got that far it will never backslide. with every 4-word phrase he revives a pallete cleansing obese black hole galaxy generating 'choose your own adventure' staggering WWOOOWWWW WTF REWIND REWIND like a line from Dryspell, maybe his 'pulse is a gymnast' OR his 'palms are chinrests'...? "when i witness fury scurry past my window" ? the phrases i thought were not as 'higher level tuning' as other have ended up hitting me hardest years later. i got a youtube vid of me crazed scribblin 'Hall of Game" lyrics , haven't had to do that much since he started putting out lyric books...SO COOL OF HIM! i sit with his lyrics reading for hours

You were the realest people I had, nothing but love wish I would of been around more instead of being stuck between dreaming, just surviving, or trying to be like the rest of em' and start a family with girls who just fucked with my mind and wasted over a decade of my time. Anybody reading this if you got family or friends that are closer than blood because its all love try your best to appreciate it because you never know the water may get muddied and you'll never see each other again and then you don't have any more opportunities to kick it and spend your time on them.

This song speaks to me on so many levels. I kind of grew up as the older brother depicted in the track, the goth kid teen, and my little sister would always be there following suit. We went to plenty of Goth and Industrial shows together and despite me getting myself in trouble and having to be bailed out of bad situations more than once, she still stuck around.

Absolutely phenomenal song. Hilarious lighthearted versus full of character and a hook that’s so short and simple and still incredibly emotionally impactful. One of the only songs you’ll ever see that can make you laugh or cry. Didn’t even need his signature metaphorical, cryptic, poetic storytelling to do it. Just an incredible work of art.

The way he tells a story with metaphors and little familiar references and descriptions combined with a sentence that can take a few minutes to unwrap and digest is amazing and the complexity, creativity, humor and relatability is why I think he's one of if not the greatest in hop hop history. He keeps getting better and better. There are 45 minute you tube videos breaking down and analyzing his three or four minute songs. A first listen feels like a choose your own adventure book as the words take your mind down different paths. You either have to pause and back up or repeat a song over and over to get to the bottom of it.

As a new Aesop listener I must say I am hella impressed
He combines some my best rappers eminem and danny brown . His lyrics always teaches you something especially if you read the lyrics although he is rather verbose at certain points . This song contrasts his others as it is more slow and you can actually hear what his saying (sometimesnhe is not very audible especially when he gets rolling)

Never knew this had a video to it - it's almost how this always ran in my head. One of Aesop's more specific tracks and an absolute masterpiece on those vivid moments of youth.
Man makes the title poet seem reductive - he's one of the few where yes the lyrics alone are incredible just to read off a page but you HAVE to hear the delivery - his voice is an instrument and words are notes and rhythms.
I still can't say I'm a devoted fan of most of his work, I don't find him easy, on the whole, to listen to. For me at least, I can find it work sometimes - but when you crack it it just makes it all the more satisfying and poignant.

It blows my mind how many people commented something to the degree that they just started listening to aesop rock. It is awesome so many people are finding out about him but god damn you have a lot of catching up to do! He has put out so much stuff and it has always gotten better. He is one of the rare artists who manages to keep delivering quality music over and over. I have been a fan since the late 90s and there are songs I've listened to a ton of times where I just figure out what lyrics about. I seen a comment on this video that said "blood sandwich = middle child". Shit like that is why he is awesome you can listen to his music and hear a line that you have heard a million times and then boom the meaning of it will pop into your head. He puts a lot of hard work into making good music, or idk maybe for him it isn't hard but either way I appreciate it. Aesop Rock is my favorite MC! The guy is a true lyricist and a legend!

I lost a cousin and an uncle to the tone of this. They both lost each other, as well. I remember when I was the only kid ready to catch my cousins 80mph slider. Every kid stood in awe. But I was there to understand his power. Catching 89mph fastballs from my 16yr old cousin. Kids were scared, but I went in to the crouch to receive and stay ready. He died all these years ago at the young age of 21. Dylan had so much power to show the world. If only he'd believe'd in him self enough to save himself from suicide.
