Aesop be like listen to my album but leave me the fuck alone.
ahhahahahahaahhaah dude this comment is gold!! thanks for the laugh
He's a humble man. Respect the content but don't idolize the man who created it.
hahahah
You don't get the track. All by myself means he is on his own because of what he says.
Fools.
You still don't get it.
"It's not even compelling melodrama
It's a comedy, somebody wanna shop you as a saga
I'm very voluntarily persona non grata"
GODDAMN
that line is savage as fuuuuck
+Empty4330 "The disillusionment has truly been a difficult pill
but you as anything menacing is a difficult sell"
This song is dope!
Aes never used to get this vicious, except maybe on "Try Not to Die"
Cx Mu I beg to differ. "Save Yourself" and "We're Famous" are pretty fucking viscous. Maybe a bit esoteric, but viscous.
noofalata indeed, they were never quite viscous enough for me. Left my ears far too soggy.
Aesop brought a demon to a gun fight
+Eddy Collado hahaha good 1
Ed De lmao
i dont get it. is Aesop a demon?
@@tacomcarthur9685 I wouldn't say that, more so he is well versed to the universal linguistics. Words have more powers than just love and hate. The contextual inbetween filler ups can leave you both full and empty but if you just drink and diet based on nutrition and... man im so far from being able to accomplish this.. back to my studies
How do you know it's not a demon behind a gun?
Aesop really outdid himself on "Impossible Kid." Goddamn.
Fuckin killed it
couldn't have said it better myself
Sound quality is real good. Content is obvious.
back on the level of the early 2k's
Labor Days shit.
I used to floss the albatross like daddy Kane with the chain.
It is a ode to hip hop and a reflection of the poem of rythm of the ancient mariner. A reflection of carrying your sins with you around your neck.
THATS FUCKING GOLD BARS!
Omg nice thx
Minor correction - Rime of the Ancient Mariner, not Rhythm... tho rhythm would be incredibly apropos given the context!
"I ain't even mad, I'm impressed, shit, it's baffling."
God damn Aesop still killing it decades into his career. Respect
Aesop won't quit. Impossible kid is amazing
I fucking LOVE the lyrics/message of this song. That moment when you finally understand an Aesop Rock song is like resolving a geometry problem. Ah, he's a fucking genius.
yep exactly
the thing is the video is still nonsense
Once you understand his first one... it domino effects and you begin to understand most of them. Then you begin to think like him. The key weapon for a genius is knowing how to harness mental, physical and philosophical associations at your will. Example: Blood sandwich lyric - "Apes on a Monolithic Bleacher" > Monolithic because you just stare at the milfs in the stands, full of wonder, as if it were the pyramids of Giza and cant take your eyes off.
@@Lastrevio lol the video makes perfect sense
"each one separately convinced they're sketching with Davincis hands" amazing
@@devinreese7704 rappers, making sketches instead of the masterpieces they think they are making.
I just can't get over how bad ass this whole album is "the impossible kid" every track is just as 🔥 as this one. aesop went beast mode on this one
Noone can touch his lyrical skill , and this might be his best beat ever... Fn killed it. It's a fn shame more people don't know
"Rap is uneducated, repetitive and formulaic"
AESOP ROCK: "Hold my dictionary"
*THESAURUS
@@austintyler7901 Both!
If you need either to comprehend that line you might need to read more books yo
Who is the quote from? I've never heard anybody say that rap is any of those things.
Do you have a source or did you just invent criticism in order to qualify your own opinion?
@@hazardous7114 That's not a source. If everyone is saying it, then it will be easy to find a source. Everyone is a big number too so it would probably have been faster for you to source it, than to write and edit that comment which said nothing.
DOPE. The shaman aesthetic is so fitting
Song alone smashes 99% of every rapper
Oh my fucking fuck, this beat.
that scratched-up sample on the hook is crack, can't stop hitting repeat
hell yeah
yeah that fucking hook gets me, too.
JBV UMW this beat is so hot with lyrics to match, I played this song disproportionately more than most, and it's nice to write to if you can write and block out Aes
I think were all a bunch of weirdos on a quest to belong.. The songs are echolocation of an impregnable fog.. Sick. The metaphors in this track are off the charts. Right out the gate talkin bout he used to floss the albatross like Daddy Kane with the chain. And all the way thru till the end If you can decipher them.. Dude went IN on this.
every single bar is insane with so much thought put into it lol I've heard this track a bunch of times and still catch things like I think "you can't be cooler than the corners where you source all your parts" is talking about for instance rappers who rap about street shit but don't actually live that.
i think that lines moreso abt how mainstream rappers who bite shit from the underground will never be as cool as the ‘source’ ( the underground rap scene)
I just love how he speaks truth on the scene. It can mean whatever to whomever but it ain't a lie either way.
I stopped writing rhymes when I discovered Aes. Ain't shit I can say he hasn't pretty much already explained in depth.
@@kevinlabonne888 Hey, I'm sure your influences are different than his, in some ways. You could contribute to the artform even if you aren't the most profound or insightful MC. We all have to start somewhere. The inauthenticity and values of the current scene are discussed at length in this song. There's plenty of rappers who are insightful and honest, even if they don't carve an entirely new lane like Aesop. I think that if you have fun writing rhymes, you should do it. It doesn't sound like you started writing to get big or sell records. What's wrong with that?
Lol no. He's saying you can never flex on what actually made you who you are.
My favorite line of the whole song and I completely agree.
u can't b cooler than the corners where u source all your parts.
favourite line on a record full of primo verses
my favorite poet/songwriter of all time
+Mr Del Gat0 poet/songwriter was right. His lyrics coo be aren't amazing...
+Mr Del Gat0 lmao whatever you say my man.
Rhythmically

Poetry
Bear Side People who make rhythmically applied poetry are poets
Bear Side stfu if u dont know shit homie
Aesop is the perfect example of what unrecognized genius looks like in music .
This is one of the greatest hip hop albums ever made and too few know about it. The world is losing hope.
pictures worth a thousand word.. an Aesop rock song is worth a thousand pictures..
nice
This whole fucking album, man. We're nearing the end of the year, and no other album has even touched this, IMO.
ValhallaBeckons The Impossible Kid deserves best hip hop album of the year imho.
this whole album is amazing. it reminds me so much of my brother.
He passed away in our apartment early this year, just before recording his next song. He was an MC.
i wish he was here to share this with me.
Sorry for your loss. You should consider dropping a link to your brothers music. It will live forever
You won’t be able to drop a link thanks to captain censor. But tell us where to look
He's in it to win it, guaranteed to work with words that you ain't heard in a minute.
This is possibly the best beat Aes has made to date.
supercell, but ok
*_STILL WAITING FOR THIS GUY TO GET FAMOUS_*
Same, damn.. If his party was over here, I'd be over here.
He is probably one of the most famous 'underground' rappers there is.
Eh.....i mean there's nothingworse than hearing some asshole singing the words to a musician you love and wondering how the two of you could love the same thing.
"Did you say A$AP Rocky???"
@@chrishenderson420 and yes that is an accurate statement right after Detroits finest clowns. Aesop Rock should have no problem surpassing them tho
"I'm very voluntary persona non grata." fucking same bro
The story of how he feels like an outsider and his self professed socially awkward personality. FIRE
+kevgor138 It's a dig at underground hip hop communities and the jealousy and fakeness that goes on there. He's basically saying fuck you to the whole rap scene. Also chances are the third verse is about El-P and RTJ.
+dagrimmreepa how is it about RTJ?
***** Third verse is about El-P.
+dagrimmreepa how though?
He changed his style from introspective and intelligent to gangster and gross, mean mugging on camera and acting hard.
"Braggadocio to go from mostly jokey to gross corrode a homie till his probity is notably ghost"
Plus he's pissed at him for neglecting his label and scoring pity sales with Cancer 4 Cure, which was about Tau's death and opportunistic. IMO.
It meant a lot to feel the fugitive community breathe. This man been sticking up for the unhoused. Live this guy.
Love. Too lazy to edit
This line has nothing to do with homelessness though...
@@OmniscientDreamNo it doesn't. Aesop shows his compassion to the homeless in 'Agressive Steven' though.
ugh why isnt he more recognized?! He is one of the best.
Been listening for over a decade, and every song is a banger. Years later and I still find hidden verses in Labor Days even.
Love the Rob Sonic cameo in this one!
Life is so unfair, party over here, I'll be over there
"Maybe no one cares..."
"Heavy loads to bear..."

I view the rattling of sabers like a show to expose insecurities exploding in emotional code
You that dude. Keep it real
thats the illusion/
Thanks to this Aes song I know what a "manticore" is and what "probity" means.
My favorite track on the album, and this video is just as good 🙌
ikr !
heck yeah
What about Syrup?
+Leroy Jasper that one is cool too, I also like Lotta years
shadowsaul93 Album was a definite 8 or 9 out of 10 for me. His best one to date definetly better than Skelethon.
the lyricism is top notch
Finallly checking out Aesop Rock for the first time! FD Signifier's recent "White Rapper Paradox" video kinda gave me the nudge I needed to get here, and whoa! what the hell was I doing sleeping on this dude for so long? I'm instantly hooked! Aesop goes so hard, this was an insane first listen!
The closed captioning was right on, thx.
I caught that too! 💐
if only every hiphop artist could grow the way aesop has
If you followed him from Float or Labor Days, then you'd know there's been an obvious improvement, or maybe refinement or honing of skills, from album to album.
Look at all the rhyme sayers guys if you wanna talk about growth as MC's aesop, Ali, and slug have all come so damn far
@Mr Del Gat0 most other rappers put out their best material early on in their career. Impossible Kid is imo his best album.
@@peoples2296 I really can't listen to his older stuff, somethi g about the voice and delivery just doesnt work with me, but the more recent stuff (impossible kid, skelethon, hmm) is so sick

Rob Sonic, Hell yeah!
I just realized the big monster at the end in probably supposed to be the mythological beast "Manticore" consider the line "we let the manticore out, we make the sorcery bark."
I swear Aesop's flow is addicting.
Aesop puts out more headlines than the gossip magazines
Very volountarily persana non grata..".gets me everytime
love that MC Shan sample
AESOP F#@CKIN ROCKS!!!!
Question: If I died in my apartment like a rat in a cage
Would the neighbors smell the corpse before the cat ate my face?
I used to floss the albatross like Daddy Kane with the chain
I'm tryin' to jettison the ballast with the hazardous waste
The kid is comfortably numb, routine a tedious crutch
Deep in a self imposed Stockholm and Lima influx
Maybe an occupation popular with demons and ducks
Made any mingling akin to bein' seasoned and stuffed
It's a theatre of jumpin' jellyfish, jealous little sycophants
Miserable and flimsy from the skivvys to the pissy pants
Each one seperately convinced
They're sketching with Da Vinci's hands
Delusion turn a communication of prison camp
You fuckin' dorks ain't a threat to the cause
There ain't a lesson we can learn from the ostensibly lost
I think it's funny when defendants from identical haunts
Step out the tempest to measure
Of what the spectrum involves
Maybe no one cares, party over here, I'll be over there
Don't need no help, all by myself
I used to hang around with rappers at the root of the scene
It meant a lot to feel the fugitive community breathe
Maybe to sentimentalize is to be truly naive
I know some shit about your heroes that you wouldn't believe
I think we're all a bunch of weirdos on a quest to belong
The songs are echolocation up in impregnable fog
That's why it's odd to see a pile of imperfections and flaws
Ascend a pedestal to patronize the rest of the cogs
And a mess of obnoxious fantasy, posturing and pageantry
I ain't even mad, I'm impressed, shit it's baffling
God almighty chop an ivory tower to piano keys
Play your own dirge on the way to surfin' maggot beach
You fuckin' dorks ain't a source of the art
You can't be cooler than the corners
Where you source all your parts
The poker face, all it takes a couple sordid remarks
We let the manticore out, We make the sorcery bark
Life is so unfair, party over here, I'll be over there
Don't need no help, all by myself
I view the rattling of sabres like a show to expose
Insecurities exploding in emotional code
With braggadocio to go from mostly jokey to gross
Corrode a homie til his probity is notably ghost
Before the hobby was a job he was a manager, Hell
You would wobble round your momma like an infant gazelle
The disillusionment has truly been a difficult pill
That you was anything menacing is a difficult sell
In a whistle-and-bellorama, black mollies to dress up like piranha
It's not even compelling melodrama
It's a comedy, somebody wanna shop you as a saga
I'm very voluntarily persona non grata
You fuckin' dorks ain't the leaders we need
This ain't the medium for divas out to weasel and breed
I'm off in coffee with the paupers over tea with the queen
Don't make 'em show the regency what disobedient means
Heavy load to bear, party over here, I'll be over there

The best AES ROCK…
This mans lyricism is incredible
ROB NOOOOOOO!!!
Cool stuff. If Kirby doesn't get a video I'll be highly disappointed though.
+Arimor Same. Could just be a 3 minute uncut video of following Kirby around and I'd be satisfied.
Kirby has the most irritating chorus Aes Rock has ever written.
+Anthony Johnston i feel it fits well the songs tone, its a fun song about his cat nothing more.... its also a nice break in the album
Off the whole album that's the only song that consistently gets stuck in my head.
Get out of the Car, Zero Dark Thirty, None Shall Pass, anything with Rob Sonic (or as Hail Mary Mallon)
when i first heard this song, when aes said 'persona non grata' it felt really satisfying and really solidified my my opinion that aes is a lyrical mastermind
"We're all weirdos on a quest to belong."
FACTS
"Its not even compelling melodrama, it's a comedy somebody wanna shop you as a saga; I'm very voluntarily persona non grata" Holy shit what a fucking bar. To subject yourself to the need of continuing of media programming in such a way where your own program tells you that it's what your purpose is --> "voluntarily persona non grata". What a loaded concept.
Knock em out the box Aes.

This new album is amazing Aesop and this is my favorite track on it. Keep spitting rhymes until you lose all your saliva.
From his whole body of work I keep coming back to "The sound in his head must be terrifying." I'm glad he knows this many words so I don't have to. Imagine what a passing thought that doesn't get wrote downsounds like.
Stick around Aes, you provide more than mere entertainment, you have a purpose.
Thank you! So happy you exist

I'm literally going to watch this 500,000 more times myself just to make right the world.
Just how Are you doing with that? 😁
Was wondering when this was going to get uploaded here. Love this track and video. The Impossible Kid is killing it.
Too bad that too many people out there aren't intelligent enough to understand his music. Genius.
After 40 years of being a rap fan…Aesop Rock nailed it!
From beats to cadence, this record kills. The vinyl is packaged amazingly, as well. So much thought put into every aspect of this record.
UA-cam, please don't block this. Greetings from Germany.

If the label itself drops the album, why would it block? D:

I don't know. But there is plenty of content on the Rhymesayers channel I'm not able to watch...like and that's new this track f.e. It fucking sucks!!

It's because someone where you live has bought the rights its not youtube or aes or any specific thing aside from a company where you live buying the rights.

My favorite rapper hands down ... I love trying to decipher his rhymes
“Walk on even when the walls hug his coat” is such a deadly bar to end on
a vid for my fav song of the album! thanks Aes!!!!!!!
This cat will get famous when people start listening to music with their ears instead of their eyes.
Well said. People used to. Maybe that day will come again.
Most people are moving the other direction.
This Cat's cat is even famous, Kirby is a damn legend
unbelievable, the lyrics are so fire!
Love this song, has real golden era vibe.
My dad introduced this to me LOL
+Amanda Neiss your dad is an OG
My mom showed me "None Shall Pass"
that's fucking awesome.
Cool parents ftw!
your dads a dork
I just noticed that the missing poster is the same one in the "Rings" video. I love the concept of Aes still searching for himself and how it carries through throughout the entire album. Rings to me is about his love of art that was an identity for him and was killed by others. "They will chop you down just to count your rings" to me translates to being in this forest of people and you being something a little different. In this case it was art, and all the nitpicking and criticism that comes along with that field. If you chop down a tree just to count the rings, you have killed the tree for no other reason than to know its age. Outsiders have killed his passion at a young age...there was so much time left to perfect the craft, but its dead now. Dorks is about him being in this world of hip hop / rap (whatever you want to call it), but not really "fitting in" with the standard stereotypes of being in the scene. Again making him an outsider in a craft that he is obviously good at
Its also a double entendre for a tyrannical king who gets killed just to get his riches taken and create the same power hungry king all over again
Back at it again with the dope sounds.
Fire af ! From the wes wes! Props hard af
Nah man. I think this a commentary on all the shitty, famed up, cash grabbing hip hop artists that haven't got a fucking clue about hip hops roots. "you fuckin' dorks ain't a threat to the cause" has to be a dig at them. Jesus christ, even looking into it that deep makes my brain hurt. A true poet.
first listen I took it as someone else saying that to him, calling him the dork....cuz he's talking about being an outsider and not right in the spectacle of the "rap" scene anymore.
I don't get how anyone can see it another way, then i see the top comment is about not being a part of the party. I wonder if they know they missed the point or what
scareyaf I heard it was about EL-P. I like your explanation a lot.

This shit is so dope man. Can't wait til I get my copy of this album in the mail. Gonna blast this shit.
I don't hear enough people in here talking about how powerful it is that someone like Aes, who is clearly extremely intelligent, thoughtful, well-read, and an absolute _master_ of language and his chosen art form - who has just spent the last several lines layering densely-packed meaning and imagery on top of each other with unparalleled precision and care - calls the people he's calling out with this song, "you fucking dorks."
Absolutely nothing Aes says is just thrown out there, which means that his using such a simplistic, childish insult for someone he clearly has such strong negative feelings for -- has to be deliberate.
Almost like he's saying "you _know_ what I'm capable of -- but using it on you, would be wasting it."
I'm with you Aesop!
Blown away every damn time!
It's crazy now I'm high I understand this song.
I should've started listening to Aesop high a long time ago.
Theme song for a superhero. Can't remember when even a gifted lyricist stopped me cold like this track did, faced with the density of the content and intensity of the delivery.
yes!!!!
His concert with this tour is the best show I've ever seen
