Just accepted my first RBT job! I am leaving a finance job and taking a significant pay cut, but so happy to finally have a job that gets me excited and motivated.
Hi! you definitely lifted up my spirits. I’m currently an RBT and I have a 3 yr old and they are classified as a hard case. I have to keep reminding myself that their progress is not going to happen in 1 day but keep being persistent and consistent in their learning. She is my youngest and I’m used to working with 6+ yr olds who are more towards higher functioning. So I have to change my mindset but as I said, you’ve definitely motivated me to keep going. ☺️
Newbies to the RBT/Mental health world, please do not give your phone to clients/kiddos. It can be risky for you as they will have access to whatever info. is on there. Most importantly, it can cause new maladaptive behaviors to be created that can impact their progress.

I have my own child and I feel like I will be good at this job but I’m also very nervous. The job duties in general are a little different and in regards to multitasking. @@marissadelacruz8818 sooo yeahhhh I tried it, but it wasn't for me. The way the company explained the job and the way things went were completely different. So now I am a mental health therapist for kids..LOL
@@jojosplace The first thing was I thought it was going to be more structured one on one with the client, but it was more of running around going to different sensory rooms and redirecting a lot of their behaviors. And for the younger children, a lot of it was chasing after them. It takes a lot of patients. There are going to be a lot of tantrums and the kids having a hard time following directions. The biggest thing you have to know is that each kid is different and their needs are going to be different. You basically have to think of it as you have to teach the kids everything from the ground up pretty much.
(2) like teaching them how to eat, how to ask for things, how to socialize, etc It was just too much for me to handle. Also, its a lot of rewarding behaviors to. I mostly shadowed with the younger kids, so I am not sure about the older kids.
This seems like something I want to do. When you go to your clients house do you come up with the activities and instructions for them? Or do the parents do that instead?

Hi am applying for the Behavioral therapist position. The company states they will train to become registered. I was wondering if it's best to already have taken the 40 hour training and even CPR or BLS prior to starting with any job for better chances a higher pay rate.

Hi am applying for the Behavioral therapist position. The company states they will train to become registered. I was wondering if it's best to already have taken the 40 hour training and even CPR or BLS prior to starting with any job for better chances a higher pay rate.
