I'm a functioning adult who was diagnosed with autism as a teen. A job like this seems like something I want to try. I hope I can be a living example for kids to look up to.

I speak from experience qh3n I say that yes, it's tough, but it is truly rewarding. The kids aren't the only one in a therapeutic environment. You learn a thing or two as well

I would not recommend this job if you get overstimulated easily. I also have autism and I can’t handle it, their overstimulation/outbursts cause me to become overstimulated and burnout occurs very, very fast
I'm currently in the process of being an RBT. I'm excited about this new career.
I’ve been an RBT for almost three years. I love how you explained this job! I met this 8 year old who would have 20 high magnitude SIB and 50 low magnitude SIB in a day. It was a struggle bus mentality, but now he is about to go to a school setting! It wasn’t easy, but has been the most rewarding journey to be on.

Thank you so much for this video I have been working in the mental health field for 20 some years was about 21 years old and I am currently 44 years old I absolutely love what I do I can say I'm good at what I do and I at the end of the day all that matters is that I definitely made a difference and child / adults life I recently I'm going to be going for an rvt which I am absolutely ecstatic over the moon and I am aware of the job duties that until I start the orientation I kind of wanted to get a little bit more information on exactly what to expect and your video is breaking it down and making me even actually even more excited to begin this journey thanks a lot I really appreciate it sending love to you all the way from Pennsylvania kudos to you
Hello! You were the reason I became an RBT and since day one I have loved it! I first was a in-clinic RBT and now I work in a school. Because schools have so many off days iv recently been thinking of becoming an in-home RBT part time but I’m extremely scared and nervous. Could you please make a video with tips and info on how to be successful when doing in-home? My main fear is possibly not having support on tough days

I am in the transportation industry and I want to be a financial planner.
I personally think knowing the behaviors of why your clients do what they do is very important and for a deeper meaning, I believe a therapist should work along side financial advisors/planners so that both their wallets and their underlining problems can be resolved.

Thanks for your videos, their very informative and interesting. I am an rbt myself already. But I am struggling to do my resume cause I don't have experience as an rbt.
Although, I have a kid who is autistic. That would be the most experience I would say I have with autism. It would be very nice of you to do a video about how to make a resume with little or no experience in the ABA field, please.

See if your surrounding public school district have opening for the school year to work in the especial education classes nas an instructional aid sub they will just ask for a background check and a profiency test . That how i started and it works for my schedule with kids in grade school hope this helps
I’m a high functioning ASD parent of a daughter with the same diagnosis. I just applied for a BT position. I’m excited to see where this leads! Hopefully a new career. I think it’s time for a change, and a positive one at that.😁

@@SugaChellez Try working for the local public schools as an instructional aid for special needs there is always alot of need and will give ;you the experience you may need to figure out if this is the job for you for an rbt. just call the local school district to elementary and see their requierements youll do a background check and a proficiency test. hope this helps

I came across your video, i myself work at a school district in an SEA I feel inlove with the autism classroom there and the teacher of that room says that i do so well with them and i love seeing them thrive lots of non verbal kiddos and one is now getting her words and I'm proud of her! Do you think it be a good fit i want to continue to work with autism persons and help them.

Do you do observation?
I got hired for an ABA Therapy - BT Position at a center that I applied for on indeed with no experience in this field or prior training. They will be training me through the company/center.
Is this normal or was this a once in a lifetime moment? Lol
I have 8 hours of onboaring training to do this week. ABA Experience was preferred but they said they "will train motivated individuals."
Eh it’s normal. I always encourage to get certified on your own but whatever you feel is good for you!

This would have been me, however, I decided to check their reviews on job search sites... I know what she means by nothing is free. You will either pay for it in mental stress from the type of cases you are given or the lack of support from management depending on the company. I believe typically, the agencies providing "free" training will expect you to stay with the company for a certain length of time.

Was the exam hard?
I just hate the lack of full time work at least in my location. I had to turn down jobs for ABA for that reason. Due to my experience as a retired counselor I get lots of ABA suggestions

While completing supervision hours for obtaining BCABA are you able to get paid during those supervised hours? Like as a behavioral tech or as an RBT? Or is it unpaid time that you have to figure out how to complete without making money.
Some are paid some are unpaid. Hours collected while working are of course paid 😊

Is there a process someone would need to go through if they end up moving states after getting their rbt school and license completed? Nope. Once certified you may work anywhere in the states!
