I just started today and been binge watching your videos. Thank you for this content!! I have zero experience in this field just a degree in psychology. It seems really rewarding but I haven't even taken the 40 hour online course yet. I'm hoping that when that happens, it will make more sense because day 1 was just super foreign to me and overwhelming. I was doing observation today only and I don't even know if I was pairing as I didn't even know what that was until watching this video! Thanks again for the content 💞

I’m starting on Monday, can you give an update on how it’s been going?
Can you make a video on what to do the first week with clients in detail what should we be focused on and how to execute successfully. For example should we be getting to know our clients through the parent as soon as we walk into the door and is there a list of questions you can suggest ? Or should we be trying to make a connection with the client as soon as we walk into the door and leave the questions for last? I'm a visual person so role playing or watching interaction helps a lot. Thank you so much for your videos i think you are amazing. Would love to continue to learn more from you keep posting them videos.

I got some basic pocket t-shirts from amazon and a fanny pack, which I love, as my uniform! My pants vary, but that's pretty much my uniform. I love the pocket in the t-shirts and fanny pack because I almost always need a pocket to store little toys (especially when blocking) and tokens and things like that.
I'm doing my first session in home with my first client and this video really helped me calm my nerves. ❤

Hi! I was wondering if you could possibly give us or myself some advice on how to deal with THAT parent. Ive recently came into a situation and got super discouraged about this field after. I really love this field and im looking into becoming a case manager in the future but for some reason my anxiety always gets the best of me whenever i encounter those parents.Thanks!

I used to have a family daycare in the Bronx before I move to Florida. I’m a little never because I’m still learning English. My question is, do you think that is going to be a problem? what if my BT isnt preparing any toy or activities at all for the first and second week, I am still doing most of the work like come up with activities idea, my BT basically sit around or on phone sometimes, I felt like the BT isnt active enough or fun, isnt normal? please please share your opinion with me. thank you!!!!!
I recently just got hired on with an agency as an RBT and it is my very first time ever doing something like this. I am extremely excited but also extremely nervous 😅 I am finishing up my bachelor's degree in psychology right now and so excited to get into the field. These have been extremely helpful. Thank you ❤
I just graduated with a Bachelors in Psychology in May. I was a part time healthcare provider for my Grandpa. I just got hired yesterday as an RBT. Just submitted the background info and a formal application form. Just waiting for background check to be cleared. I’m so so nervous! I’ve never done something like this before. I don’t have any experience with children or children with Autism. I absolutely love kids though! I’ve been looking to gain new skills and experience. But oh god I hope I do okay 😅 It’s all sinking in today and I’ve been getting a bit of anxiety

@@roseallen1080 Training was really overwhelming and a lot of info to take in as well. I was close to quitting. I’m now officially registered, and so far it’s been okay! Just pushing through at this point honestly 😅 My clients are great! There have just been times and instances when I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing or if I’m doing my best for them. I definitely know that I’m not gonna do this for a very long time though. I’m really considering a career as a school counselor

Hi! I am a new ABA therapist, working towards my RBT credential. I have had my first client for about 2 months. My question is about physical restraint. Fortunately, my client is nonviolent and I dont foresee ever needing to restrain with him. However, as I am looking for this to be a long term career, I am concerned about needing to restrain with future clients. I have a spine condition that I had surgery for a year ago. I am physically restricted in what I can do. I am not supposed to "lift more than a gallon of milk," for example. Physically restraining a strong child would put me at serious risk of injury. My question is, is this something that I would be protected from termination if the issue arose? Am I within my right to request only clients who do not become physically aggressive and require restraint? I am looking to make this a long term career, but worried that this issue may arise in the future. Thanks so much for all your videos!
Most companies have it as a requirement that you’re able to restrain and lift 50 or more pounds, so yes it would likely be an issue.
My agency does both center-based and home-based therapy. Can I request to do only center-based sessions and not at home?

How much do you make in Florida as an RBT? I'm starting as a BT, tech 2 and mentor in NJ, the rates are all different but RBTs get paid 30 here before supplemental pay

Is there a way I can be payed to be an RBT to just my little sis in law? I’m a caregiver as of now, but my fiancé (her brother) might take that role if I can be her RBT (she gets along really well with me, listens to me, and has a lot of fun with me).
No, that would be a conflict of interest. According to the BACB ethical code which BCBA’s and RBT’s must abide by, you cannot maintain any type of relationship with your client.
@@relentlesley1630 thank you for the insight. This actually encourages me to seek the field. It seems, my in laws have been more than welcoming to my kindness, and I now know why familial relations should not be held in professional settings. I look forward to people I will know strictly as clients, not family that knows less boundaries.
@@mrsanonymous414 of course!! Glad to help, I’ve been an RBT for 2 years now, and I’m halfway done with my masters degree to become a BCBA. This work though it can be difficult and stressful it is immensely gratifying and fulfilling to be able to help and make a change in the life of kids. ❤️
