No one goes into a job knowing everything. That’s what we have to remember. No pressure. We can do it 😊
I didnt even know about ABA until a year ago thru a friend. I applied to the company she worked for, got hired, trained and 7 months later, I am officially an RBT. My client is the sweetest girl ever, we click so well. I feel like I'm a natural :)
I had the worst first session ... I felt so bad for the parent . My supervisor was over 30 minutes late , and I had no idea how to conduct a session due to poor training . I felt like I had to act like I knew what I was doing . So frustrating
Hi Shannon. I’m super sorry to hear this:( Unfortunately I’m not surprised to hear you feel like you’ve been poorly trained as it seems to be a growing trend in our field. If you would like to talk one on one I would be happy to give you insight. You can use the following link to book a session and we can discuss further. Knowledge is power. I wish you the very best. Stay safe 💕 calendly.com/behaviorworks
I start tomorrow and I am very nervous. I don't think they gave proper training. I don't know what to say as my intro.
@@sandrasees.purple3657how did it go? I got training through zoom but I’m more of a visual learner so I’m going in completely blind.
@@sandrasees.purple3657hey how’s it going
@@sandrasees.purple3657how did it go?
I'm about to finish my 40 hours of training, I'm in love with this position. Everyone seems to be very friendly and willing to help you with every concern you have. I'm still very nervous about delivering the first session by myself.
How did it go? Im still nervous after doing it for about 2 months...especially because I had to deliver all sessions by myself with one of my kiddos, with the other one the supervisor was only there for one day then I was all on my own. :(
For 12 years I've lived with my 3 younger brothers with severe level of autism, and through out my life they have been denied services, support, and education because of how difficult their behavior was. Now at this point I'm working for families like mine, I'm still a behavioral technician working on to become an RBT but but so far I love the field and I cannot wait what career opportunities come ❤️ ✨
Girl ....today was my first day. I was nervous as all outdoors. My analyst told me to just focus on pairing. Which I did. Worked out great. I'm still super nervous about that data. I believe shes gonna let me pair for the next few days then get down to the nutty gritty..I'm excited to see what this position will offer me. Also eager to see how my hard work will Pay off with the client.. Thanks for the video 😘
Focus on pairing! You’ll be great data is easy, just takes some getting used to. Don’t stress it! 🥰
@@ABASource k thanks...keep the content coming..
How is it going? Ive been doing it for about 2 months and still feel anxious with one of my kiddos.
@@angiem7725 hey, all is well. I'm now a year in and love it !! I have great BCBAs . I have 2 little friends. Boy and girl. I am in the school setting with them. As any Job it has its ups and downs. But continue to push through. It's worth it, not only for yourself but for the kiddos as well.
@@LeapFrog691 Thank you for the words of encouragement!
Do you have any tips about gaining confidence with playing with a kid in the beginning? I tend to not be sure how to navigate play and all that
I just got a job as a RBT and i haven't started my training yet but i'm super excited!!! I hope im good at it lol
Good luck, happy to have you here!
Update?
I am meeting my first case today. I feel super unprepared. I don’t really have much experience working with children with ASD (besides observation experience). I am studying to be a Mental Health Counselor but decided to take up a job in the ABA field for the experience. My first case is nonverbal so that also stresses me out and makes me nervous.
How did it go?
The nonverbal ones ironically “speak the most” meaning they have a lot they want to say but don’t know how to communicate it yet I’ve noticed they are very loving empathetic and very observant and smart
This is my first day I start in literally a hour and 15 mins from now so I'm glad I found this video before I go!!
How’s your first day go? I start in 9 hours and I’m a nervous wreck! Lol
@@coachericalee312 I start this Monday ! They just opened so need workers I haven’t even started the 40 hr training yet lol
@@sandygodislove7402 good luck girl!!! I started and I have 2 clients so far and I love it! The only down side though is that my clients cancel a lot! And it’s always last minute and I don’t get paid for driving the 30 minutes out there…I don’t like that at all.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! Could you do a video where you talk about your experiences working with different clients and how you handled difficult situations? I just recently got certified as an RBT and I think one of my biggest fears is not knowing how to react in a difficult situation.
THANK YOU!!!! That’s actually fantastic video Idea I could definitely do that!
@@ABASource yes! that will be a great video, I passed my test and looking to find a client soon. The video could be like on what to do when task refusal, mouthing, eloping, ect! thank you for all your videos
ME TOO !! i’ve thought about this
Are you able to do a Day in the life and show how you would read or go over cases and treatment and how you would document
Listening to your story reassures me, and gives me confidentiality, since I feel lost in my first RBT case, I am full of doubts, and insecurity, although I have experience in working with autistic children but it has always been in classroom. with the support of a big team say teacher, teacher aid, paraprofessional and more. Your videos have given me a lot of help and knowledge. Great!!
💙
I'm also a RBT. And it is a trying time during this pandemic, especially for clients with all these changes, but all we can do is be our best we can be and help the family within our capability. I love your videos and thank you for being you.
😍😍😍🥰
Thank you so much for your videos! You’re absolutely amazing! As an aspiring RBT, your videos have inspired me a lot. You’re a heaven sent. Keep up the great work! xx
MY HEART🥺🥺🥰 Thank you Thalia, welcome to ABA field so happy to have you ❣️

I start my 40 hour course this thursday
can't wait :D
your videos are informative.
Thank you for your videos. I just found your UA-cam channel. I start my first aba behavior tech job tomorrow. I am nervous but very excited and this video helped.
I been a Bt for about a month now not quite done with the training. I have 1 client that’s a 12 yr old quite different from the videos I been watching with smaller kids. She doesn’t show any tantrums so this case isn’t as bad as the other bt’s kids. She’s respectful and listens. But I feel my supervisor is never there or go missing for weeks so I’m not getting the proper training. Sometimes I feel like I’m just hanging out with her instead of actually making progress in her programs. Im about ready to quit because my hours are only 3,1/2 hour long and one day of a 4 hour shift mon-sat ( yea not so good schedule) a friend put me on to this job so I don’t want to just leave cause that’ll make her look bad in a way, but then again im living in high ass California where 3 hours not gonna pay anything. So now I find myself looking for another job that can work around that schedule which is stressful. I like this field I always loved kids but having to do the 40 hour training plus trying to find another job to make money so I can pay all my bills is a hassle.
So helpful I love it ! Just started my 40 hour course on Relias Academy.
I finished my 40 hr training to be a BI, & now in the process of waiting to schedule my RBT exam, but I was contacted to start my VERY First session w/ a client but no confirmation yet & it’s supposed to start today. I’m SOO NERVOUS I feel unprepared. I will definitely be looking over the Behavioral Intervention Plan in the morning. Wish I would have found your channel EARLIER ❤️
I'm going to start out as a Behavior Assistant before I become an RBT.
Thank you for all your advice. I just passed my RBT exam and am training with some clients. I'm super excited but nervous!
Congratulations and welcome to the field!
How was the test for you?
@@Nunez91 it was not easy for sure, but you definitely need to know all the terms and vocab and know how to apply them to hypothetical scenarios. #abarocks definitely helped.
Thank you for responding. I am taking my test on this Wednesday.
I start the 40 hour training tomorrow but my first day is Thursday, i feel so unprepared 😭 lol
How did it go?! My official first day is tomorrow and I’m nervous!🥴🤧
make-up girl 903 ....yep lol that was me. It’s okay! A lot of things can be learned on the job. You’ll only get better with time!
My first day way today at the learning center and I was so anxious inside. I had to remember to that it was pairing. I kept asking natural question like why is this on accident. Then, loads of info coming in at once!
Hey! Congratulations on your first day! It is definitely overwhelming, but I’ll promise you’ll get it! Keep at it 💪🏻
I’m glad I’m not the only nervous one lol I’ve worked as a hab tech for special needs for 3 years and I’m still nervous !
Love your videos now that I’m a new hire as an RBT you really break it down and everything to understand it more I start on Wednesday watching all your videos now
I am definitely on the same boat. I work in a school setting, and I'm very shy coming into the field. hopefully as time pass I can be able to open up more.
This made me feel so good about my first day. Thank you so much!
im so nervous i start later this month BUT this video made me smile and laugh hopefully this goes good .
That’s a great sign! All we can do it laugh at ourselves sometimes. Best and most humbling way to learn 🤷🏻♀️💕
I’m super nervous starting next week, how was it , any tips?
@@mepierre661 it’s not as difficult as i thought it would be! I over thought everything but once u start u get the hang of it and there’s no pressure to know everything right off the bat. it’s a learning curve
It's adorable that the client hugged you, and I'm sure you may already know this, but mental health professionals should not make physical contact with clients due to ethical standards.
Def need to get a zoom session!! Great work I’m helping all of us 🔥🔥🔥
Looking forward to talking to you!! ☺️
im watching this today is my first day as a rbt and its going to be at home !
Hi I am a early childhood teacher and am considering a career change to be an RBT and later BCaBA. I have been warned about job security. I also wonder if you are able to choose your schedule and the age group of the clients you work with, I would love your thoughts. Thank you!
My first couple of days I was in the dark. No plan, no intervention, no bcba. I was in the dark and really got off on the the wrong track. Come to find out by the time I got my kids binder he had no interventions. All he had was an iep. Which is very vague. Come to find out the bcba wasn’t doing her job and got fired. What do you do in this situation. I’m dealing with a kid with odd with no experience with this I’m just lost.
I start tomorrow I'm nervous but thank you for the video
Good luck to you!
Thank you very much for sharing!
Omg I’m so scared I’m going to start my RBT Training but I also suffer from dyslexia do you think I can do it ?
my trunk is full with toys and nobody understands why lol
Mine too 🤣🤣🤣
Am a new subscriber love your videos I just got a job as a behavior technique I start tomorrow am super nervous can you tell if you do live videos
Yay new video
I’m hanging in there lol 😂❤❤❤
Hi, Anna! I can't meet with you, sadly, but I do have some important questions I really wanted to ask you about the field. I am interested in ABA, but I have heard that the course work and test are very hard. Then I heard about Behavior Tech and it sounded perfect, but is RBT alone enough to support myself? Is ABA is stressful as people make it sound?
Coming through 👏
Hi! Just got a job as an RBT excited but I’m very nervous any advice? :)
Hi Anna! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! How do I go about having a zoom meeting with you? I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks in advance!
Hello miss Jessica! Are you interested in becoming a RBT?
Yes. I tried taking the RBT classes before but, I procrastinated so much, that when I decided to crack down and finish it, it had expired. I am looking to retake the course. I have 23 years experience working with children with intellectual and physical disabilities. I have 5 1/2 years with adults. My dream is to become a BCBA! I have my bachelor’s degree and I am currently working on my master’s degree in psychology.
Well lets get you started then! We can get you certified through ABA Source, you may use this link to book a session with me if you would like to speak about the program in more detail or ask any burning questions!

Knowledge isn’t power. Application is
Definitely
How long did it take to become a rbt?
How do you get a Medicare number?
What’s the average salary in Miami?
Hello! These are all great questions please consider booking a one-on-one session with me and I would be happy to answer all of your questions in detail :) square.site/book/KZMZD2FSCMK6C/rbt-source
I'm located in Northeast Florida. I am just wondering and needing some advice on pay. How much should I expect or ask for being new to rbt with a bachelor's just newly certified??
Hi Crystal! It would depend on a few more factors. I would love to chat with you more in depth. You can book an advising session with me using the following link and I would be happy to answer all your questions! calendly.com/behaviorworks
Does anyone know if an LPN can also be an RBT?
I’m not certified.. ny only experience is my son of 9 years old who was diagnosed with ASD at 3. What to do?
Get certified 😎
You would be so good and helpful being an RBT. You have so much experience already without even taking the class. Go for it. You will help your child, yourself, and many others.
I’m new to the field! I started yesterday
And I work in the classroom
I have a pretty severe client who loses focus easily
Any tips?
I would love to join your Zoom.
HEY TURI ANNA!! I’m going to begin my online training soon for RBT but im worried about less jobs being available because of the pandemic and this requires a lot of human contact, and there’s probably even less supervisors available. Do you know how things have generally changed for ppl in RBT/BCBA/Mental Health Clinics in the U.S??? Can you please do a video on this!!??
HI ALEXANDER ROSIANNA lol. Congrats on starting soon. Don’t be worried, you will always find a reason to not start something new if you look for one ( pandemic or not), I say just do it-we need you! We are considered “essential workers”, regardless of the pandemic there are a plethora of clients that need our therapy. Not sure why you think there would be less supervisors available, but I say take the green light and start:) hope this helps ☺️
Behavior Works oh sorry didnt realize Turi was your last name. I was looking at ur Insta handle. But thanks! Good advice
QUESTION: Do RBT workers only work with clients that have autism spectrum disorder or is that just the main disorder they work with? If so, what are the other types of disorders or behaviors of clients they might work with?
Hey Ana! I just wanted to thank you for the coaching session on Zoom. You've given more helpful insight in than anyone I work with. I really appreciate the helpful suggestions for rienforcers. I highly reccomend attending a coaching session!
Thank you Charly! You’re going to do great❣️
Greatest part of this job is to have a great excuse to buy all the cool toys. When you are kiddo you have to ask an adult. But as adult. You can have the big pack of crayons or the silly scent markers. Or that cool game all kids are talking about. Knowing the characters your kiddos like is important. Lots of easy ways to pair yourself with reinforcement are out there ask you supervisor if you are unsure
I love this comment. I can so relate lol!
I start in a few days as an RBT in training and I'm nervous but this video and your advice helped me greatly. Thanks so much!
Im a RBT and my first day on the job my nerves were wrecked. I had to pair with my client and provide continuous reinforcement to gain instructional control then the child started tantrumming. Moral of the story we got this!!!
I had the same experience my princess is so intelligent, and sweet. Getting to know her
I just finished my training and I'm sending my application for the exam soon
Good luck on your exam! Hope you enjoyed the videos and learned a lot 😜
Yes. Please call me. This is stressful. Amen!!!
I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel. Your tips especially on how to handle a first day in the field are top notch! Thank you Anna and may you keep flourishing.😊
Hello! is it common for all RBTs to bring their own toys and snacks? 😅 .
I’m in graduate school (first semester) to become a BCBA but I’ve never been a RBT! I was a SLP-Assistant. I start my first day Monday for training to be a RBT. Graduate school is so confusing for me. Can I schedule an advice session for both BCBA and RBT?
Thanks!!
Today, I had my first day, and it didn't go as well as I hoped. School setting and my Bcba couldn't come so I was all by myself on the first day. I tried doing my best but I feel like it wasn't enough. I hope tomorrow goes better.
Im glad I found your channel, I am getting ready to have my Competency Assessment. Your information is very helpful!
I’m so glad you found it too good luck!
This is exactly what I’m dealing with.
The Data Plan!Except my analyst isn’t friendly or helpful. :(
😅
I hope it got better for you
Just had my first day with my first client. Didn’t know I was supposed to bring toys or anything, so the kid got bored v quick
Do you have tips for working with nonverbal clients that use AAC communication devices? My very first BT session is today and I’m very nervous.
hi! love your videos 😊 but couple of quick questions first if you get a client that’s approve let say 20 hrs it’s mandatory to do the full 20 or I can do 4 hrs 4 days and its ok! and second question is easy to find morning clients? like 9-1 or 10-2 for example? thank you 🙏🏼
Hi! it's me again. I'll meet my learner for the first time tomorrow =)
RIP Earphones users lol
Hi John. What was it that killed your ears? I’m trying to work on the sound it always gives me problems. Sorry about that 😕
Do you do sessions that are kind of RBt guidance for the first days?
Thank you ❤️❤️
Thank u 💓
such a fun video idea
Im literally going through this moment, thank you for making me feel more calm
Im a registered nurse and have a daughter with autism and I am interested in doing this instead of nursing for a while just wonder would they think I'm over qualified
Absolutely not! I say go for it 😊
@@ABASource thank you!! I am ❤️
Hey!! Love your channel. I am finishing my training and have an interview tomorrow!! I have learned so much with your videos, keep it up!! Also, I think a good video idea would be an interview video! :)
I feel less alone! I am supposed to be getting an offer letter this week! I am so nervous and doing all the research I can on the subject. My plan is to be an occupational therapist one day and I am hoping this will be a good skill set going into the field. Anyways, I am nervous too! LOL
Very great video. I'm really interested in. I wnat to know the steps to become a RBT.

H!i My channel has A LOT of information on this topic. Please watch my videos and subscribe if you find it helpful because I have a lot more on the way:)
Thank you very much. I'll watch them
You are awesome!! I'm 2 semesters away from finishing undergrad in Psyc and I plan to start as an RBT after graduation. Would you say it's too early to start getting a toy/activity collection or wise to start now? Thanks for your videos!
Hi Samantha! You’re awesome! Even though I’m addicted to shopping for toys and am always down to do so it would probably be best to just wait until you know more about your client(s) before purchasing anything:( That way you know their age as well as where they are developmentally and what they like!
