I can't stop saying how a great job Lana did. Her dark, magnificent cover of "Once Upon A Dream" just pulls this movie together. I hope that with this, more people realize what a true gem Lana Del Rey is among most of the artist now- especially if you listen to her Unreleased songs! Can't wait for this movie either!

If you seen Maleficent .. these are a couple of scenes that didn't make it into the movie because Disney felt they were "too dark" ..
1) The original story began when Maleficent's parents were killed in a war with the humans and it had a serious trauma on Maleficent as wel as trust issues.
2) Not only did King Stefan take her wings, he drugged Maleficent and raped her afterwards
3) When King Stefan presents the wings to the dying king, the dying king laughs him off saying he is just a servant, at this, King Stefan becomes very angry, grabs a pillow and kills him and calls himself "the new king"
4) In the original movie, they decided to turn Maleficent into a dragon and have the typicall Sleeping Beauty ending where she dies at the end, however they changed it so that Stefan died and Maleficent lived, they had to shot new scenes for this.
5) In the beginning she speaks to her raven of an missunderstood Queen who was tricked by a mirror thinking she was ugly, referring to The Evil Queen of Snow White, saying that these take place in the same universe.
Wow, how do you know that? It would have been so much better if it was done that way.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! That's seems like a much better film, not because it's darker, but because that makes Maleficent's reasoning for hating human kind a little more believable. That seems so much better put together, I know Disney has an image to uphold but come on...
eppoif1 yeah they really should've added more parts like that to help. I mean, they had Pirates of the Carribbean which was a very huge step out of Disney's usual comfort zone and yet they decided not to do more more with this movie. I still liked the movie and the wings being cut off scene still really gets to me (damn you stefan) but it couldve been better. Angelina Jolie tho really portrayed the character well, love her as Maleficent

Everyone's complaining the movie was bad because Malificent was totally evil. Oh no! A backstory! You mean people don't just wake up wanting to be evil?

***** it wasn't just a "lost love," it was the fact that the most important person to her took the most important thing from her. It was how low she felt after it happened.
***** But having villains for no reason is just so stupid, no one's evil for evil sake, Maleficent didn't just wake up that day feeling like giving a new born child a curse, yes her name means evil, but people are evil for a reason, evil isn't born, it's made.

Let's talk about how perfect this trailer is. Angelina is perfect for the evil witch role, she can really pull that off, and Elle is great for the innocent Aurora. Also, Lana's song for this trailer fits it so well omg I'm so excited for this movie.

So I watched the movie today. And I gotta say - Disney completely floored me. I was shocked. In a good way. This movie was perfection. I completely loved it. I'm not sure about others, but I really loved this movie. By far my favorite movie from Disney. They did amazing. Everything about it was beautiful to me. It is truly worth seeing. The whole message is something movies don't usually show.

Part of what made this trailer much more appealing is that cover to Once Upon a Dream. It COMPLETELY changes the original meaning in the animated movie and turns it into a haunting melody. Awesome.

It’s amazing to remember that this is a movie. The actors, the special effects, the environments, the animals and creatures, the music, it was all made by people, by us - an entire universe.
Maleficent is my favorite live action Disney film after Cruella. Angela Jolie was the perfect choice for Maleficent! This is also one of the best movie trailers ever. I get chills EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
As someone who just never got into "Sleeping Beauty" as a kid, I have to say that telling the story from Maleficent's point of view makes things look so much more interesting.

I don't know why people are confused on the Dark element it has. This IS Disney's DARKEST Character in any Disney Princess movie. She kills people. Tortures people. ETC. I'm really impressed with Angelina getting this part. She also looks like the character. I don't see anybody else more fit for this role than Angelina.Whether it's good or bad, It'll mostly be a box office hit.

Abigail Lee While I might agree with that I don't think Uma Thurman can quite pull off the whole "dragon in human form" that Angelina does, hell she [Angelina] already gives off the feeling of a large feline ready to pounce naturally. Uma though gives off more "Femme fatale" feel. A dragon just requires more "animal"
No...I don't remember there being killing or torturing in the original movie. She just put everyone to sleep. What with everyone taking children stuff and making it "realistic"?

In the original sleeping beauty, the young woman is put to sleep because of a prophesy, rather than a curse. And it isn’t the kiss of a prince which wakes her up: the king seeing her asleep, and rather fancying having a bit, rapes her. After nine months she gives birth to two children (while she is still asleep). One of the children sucks her finger which removes the piece of flax which was keeping her asleep. She wakes up to find herself raped and the mother of two kids.

Many people are disappointed that maleficent was not portrayed as the villain.Tbh I was surprised too and I think it has a little more mature approach but it shows us how people are shaped by consequences and stuff. It teaches us not to judge people quickly as even Disney's greatest villain had a story which made her what she is. Personally I loved the movie

I agree, that was the point of this movie. Disney movie’s purposes have a specific point to them, this one did what it wanted. I loved it, Maleficent was always the most interesting characters in Sleeping Beauty, and one of the best villains in general, it made sense to make her the protagonist here

*sigh* I saw this in a video ad first and watching this brought tears of nostalgia to my eyes. I remember watching the original Sleeping Beauty when I was 5 years old and how Maleficent always intimidated me. Jolie seems to really be doing her justice in this trailer and is actually making me relive my past memories of the character she's playing.
