It's so weird to me how people gatekeep people playing and enjoying video games; people get really hostile and weird about people playing with emulators, and I've never understood why. As long as people are enjoying themselves and playing the games they want to play, that's all that matters. There is a unique quality to og hardware though and having a physical collection is it's own unique experience that can't be replicated. You'd also definitely have to play with og hardware for things such as tournaments and speedrunning events to have the complete original experience, with far less possibility of cheating/foul play. Final note: Emulation is quite literally keeping retro gaming alive. Sega and Nintendo know it too which is why they've released their own emulator/mini consoles.
@@Greazvstheworld So you think loving video games is measured by how much money you spend on them, and no by playing and enjoying them? You don't think playing games for fun is loving games? Interesting 🤔
Ive never understood gatekeepers in any respect. The more people that take interest in the same things as you is a good thing. It brings more eyes too it. If retro games were not popular now we wouldn't have things like improved emulation or new releases for old consoles. Rather you emulate/have physical hardware/buy digital retro games on ps5 or xbox. All that matters is your experience with the product
You are absolutely right. Passion is fantastic, however toxic behavior is passion in the wrong direction! I like to bring a positive attitude towards the hobby, it is too important to me and I do not take these old games for granted!
About 15 years ago, i downloaded an emulater on pc playing Pokémon Gen 1 online multiplayer. It was fun for a while, but it came with a nasty virus. I had to mail my pc to my brother to fix it. I will forever stick with hard ware.
I'm the SAME way, I love emulation and original. Best of both worlds, same with digital and physical. Glad to see somebody like myself out there and not limiting their selves to one thing.
I prefer to play on original hardware because thats how i've always played , but emulation is great too and and brings life to games people have never had the chance to play. Great video dude 👍
I didn't find out about emulation untill a few years ago. I came across a UA-cam video about super console x. The super console x absolutely blew my mind when i learned I could have every game for NES, SNES,SG, PS1, neo Geo and on and on and on, for $80 on one console. I had to have it. It's so good that I didn't even believe it was real until I received it and hooked it up. Best $80 I've ever spent on video games %100. I collect disc based games but being able to have all the cartridge games on a emulator is perfect for me. If not for emulation, I wouldn't be able to play any of those games.
What do you guys think? Drop a comment and let me know where you stand on this debate!
I think it really is about the games themselves and whatever makes people happy! Gatekeeping any hobby sucks!
@@jaibee8689 totally agree

Yeah man, the gatekeeping is so toxic! Reminds me of golf and people getting mad if you use a hybrid lol
@@COIFISHGAMING People are so worried about how other people are playing and experiencing games that they forget to enjoy the games themselves
@itsbreadbin 100% true!
Imagine loving video games but never spending a penny on one and then crying when companies like Nintendo shut down emulators lol

The Limewire days! Viruses absolutely were everywhere back then!
