It probably depends on the difficulty how to approach NG. I'm stuck on normal for the time being because I have a hard time parting with my freedom. As long as I'm chaining playthroughs I try to be stingy with renown as I can. Usually the earlier ranks are a lot easier to raise naturally with students, so for example proficient skills ranks can go naturally for a while. I usually use renown to get byleth what he needs to get into certain intermidate classes/recuiting. Leaves you pretty much all activity points for motivation. From here on out it starts depending more if you want to chain the file further, or you are happy with your current logbook/starting renown, and you can just spend it all. A huge problem with NG+ is that renown will run out if you just start raising stuff recklessly. I assume once you've done all routes and speedrun normal a few times, it won't be as big of a deal, but if you're still in the 100K range caution is needed. On a maddening playthrough I'm just going to go for spending everthing though. Early A authority heavily shines with the early difficulty spike. If you come from a normal file you can have odd things unlocked, and abuse them. Quick Riposte is broken on the majority of males. Another things that's possible is to easily let a unit use classes with problematic banes. Wyvern/war master Dimitri sounds like a huge asset on maddening, large erasing his class disadvantage over the other two lords that exists on a normal new game. This is all theory, because the game can drag very much if you grind to much on normal, but I'm pretty confident I can mess around with maddening soon. It's sad you can't grind renown aside from repeat playthroughs, because if cost weren't a factor at all, class progression just becomes whatever you fancy, and the grind for motivation could just be ignored. Unfortunately the devs had some good sense with this XD
You can grind with the dlc you buy 66 killer knuckles for less than 100 renown then sell them for hundreds of thousands and buy seeds sell for more renown and your golden

I'm on my 2nd playthrough. I don't have as much renown as people who have played 3+ times, so I'm opting to level my skills naturally til they're like C or B, and then level them the rest of the way with renown. You level them so quickly already that spending 500 renown to go from E+ to D feels like a huge waste. But going from B to A still only costs 500, so you end up getting WAY more XP for the same price.
i have beaten New game maddening and NG+ Maddening wont be doing a "pure" run again since the first one i did was boring AF since it gets to a point that you may as well only use the OP units to get the levels done quickly. I only played on classic and i despise losing anyone so my Mage and flying corp did everything but to me that s a boring way to play.
I honestly used to love newgame+ and still use it for some hard mode playthroughs but maddening just feels so much more rewarding without it. It’s still a cool feature and allows you to break the game with builds that would be almost impossible in regular ng such as Wyvern Lord Lysithea or Quick Riposte Female Byleth with Falcon Knight.
Okuyasu the type of guy who would say characters like Gozales are top tier but wouldn’t know how to back it up with facts and just keep saying they’re good.

Question, do you get more Renown if you continuously use New Game+ on old save files that also used New Game+? Or is it preset and I’m seeing things. I swear I started with 10,000 the first New Game+, then 20,000 the second time, and the third time (now) I have 40,000. I could have sworn that’s how it’s gone. I think it’s doubled. Consistently. Edit: You answered in the video. Thank you man, that’s so broken the more times you do it.
a very important tip i would give to players, would be to spend 1 normal playthru mastering every class in the game with every unit by spamming battles. tedious? absolutely. but i promise you will thank me later when you have access to insane ability combos that synergize so well that single units can solo maddening. alot of the abilities that synergize really effectively are unfortunately tied to classes that directly contradict each others requirements. the one ive been using is felix as a regular old swordmaster (sword-faire/crit +10) and i give him Vantage, Wrath, Lethality, Defiant Crit, and the last skill changes depending on the map. sometimes i put Renewal or miracle, sometimes Close Counter and a killer bow, sometimes dex+4 (to help lethality trigger) sometimes if i expect to keep my health above half i trade defiant crit for death blow with desperation and use a few wo dao+. other times i expect to keep my health low so i use the ashiya sword+ to damage myself but keep Renewal equipped and then Vantage Wrath Defiant Str and Lethality do the work for me. and the ashiya sword has such high crit its already at 100 with wrath so defiant crit is redundant and i can trade it for defiant str. the swordmaster class is important since the astra combat art fixes the extremely low trigger rate of lethality since each of the 5 hits has a chance to trigger it. i hadnt thought of it til just now, but if i used Petra instead, she could get defiant avoid instead of str or crit, and be untouchable. this all goes double for byleth since he can have every skill. at this point i kinda hope they make a DLC super insane difficulty or something because maddening is basically no different than normal with NG+. EDIT: in the regular build felix has a full inventory of iron sword+s so he can spam astra with impunity. the ashiya sword build has to be a little more careful and is more about boss killing. no gambit either haha
Except for the fact that Astra sucks. It's supposed to attack 5 times with only reducing your Weapon Mt to 30% of normal, but it reduces your attack power, not to mention it takes a whopping 9 durability to use, and it lowers your hit rate. It must've been a programming error.
@@AkameGaKillfan777 attack power is irrelevant. The point is that you have 5 chances to crit or activate lethality. On its own it sucks sure. Read the whole post again. With death blow, wrath, vantage, desperation and lethality, Astra becomes very useful. Lethality and Astra fix each other's problems. Lethality has too low of a chance to ever activate and Astra makes your attack power so low it's useless. But together, lethality Is literally 5x more likely to activate, and since it's an instant kill, astra's attack reduction doesn't matter. My results speak for themselves. EDIT: oh not to mention both crits and lethality are guaranteed to hit if they activate. So that's not an issue either.
@@iamlordapollo If critting is what you want, just forge Wo Dao+s and use a more efficient combat art like Sunder. Felix can learn it, not to mention Swordmaster is his canon class. Btw I think you meant Defiant Crit, since Wrath only activates when the enemy initiates the attack. That's the ability you need on Player Phase. But if you could combine both, you'd have 100% crit on any weapon. And I never rely on lethality to trigger since the proc rate is so low(Dex/10) so even if you get up to 40, that's still only a 10% chance to proc. The other class mastery combat arts are actually worth using. Hunter's Volley for distant brave strikes, Fierce Iron Fist for if you can't quadruple or beat an enemy before retaliation, and War Master's Strike for bonus damage to everything, which means you can break full monster barriers in one hit, all of which only take 5 durability from the weapon.
@@AkameGaKillfan777 dude its pretty clear your not reading what im saying. literally everything you just wrote i explained in my first post. dont waste my time explaining shit i already said. vantage, wrath, defiant crit gives 100% crit with an iron sword below 25% health. since iron swords are cheap it renders durability cost of combat arts meaningless. so right there enemy phase is taken care of. then on player phase i can burn thru as many iron swords as i want spamming astra. since lethality is .25/dex and unless you got rng screwed or dont know how to reclass to get stats that you want, my felix's dex stat is between 60 and 80 on every play thru. that translates to between 15% and 20% activation. which is just below 1 out of 5 odds. how many attacks does astra do again? oh yeahhh it does 5 attacks. which means astra and lethality together with a competent felix is a guaranteed lethality. my goal isnt getting crits. its creating synergy between skills that people think are bad. if you want to say astra sucks because you dont know how to synergize it with other abilities to make it work effectively be my guest, but the numbers dont lie. neither do the results that ive gotten. right off the bat the idea that you are "relying" on lethality to activate tells me you took one look at it, saw .25%/dex and assumed it was useless because it was in fe9. same goes for astra actually. if you had taken 2 seconds to do math and put a little thought into it youd see that they work just fine when used together. any ability that activates based on % is not something you rely on ever. you either treat it like a pleasant surprise, or find a way to make the % work to your advantage. now please stop wasting my time repeating what i said in my first post.
So I am about to finish my first play through of normal classic. I have never played a Fire Emblem before. I am at the battle for the bridge currently and I wish I had selected at least hard. It is super easy right now. To a point where I kind of feel like I am prepping this play through for my next one. That being said. Is it better to spend my renown now on all the statues or save it and have it carry over to my next play through? Anyway, I know this vid is old but I found it super useful
Didn't know that Male and Female Byleth share Class Abilities. Very good to know! NG+ is amazing in this game. @@ihavenoidea8368 Not only that but it's fun to have the ability to use characters in classes they dont have the aptitude for or hate just because. This is the way
Very helpful, thank you. I do find hilarious that NG+ makes this game easier than your first play through…. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Dark Souls pioneered NG+ as a way to make the game even more challenging (all the journalists wanted an easy mode, little did they know Dark Souls first playthrough is easy mode lol). Even if FromSoftware didn’t pioneer NG+ they had to be one of the first ones to implement it so well. So it’s kinda confusing that they would have all these features that make the game easier. I’m not saying it’s bad, in fact I quite like it as I will be able to recruit the whole roster and do some things will classes and skill levels that I didn’t get around to the first time through. It just kinda seems backwards to me. You would think the game would be easier your first time through than your second. But hey, variety is the spice of life.
Correcting you. Dark Souls didn't Pioneer NG+ NG+ Has been around for a long time, dating back to games like Legend of Zelda II. Also, again Dark Souls NG+ Is the outlier, most games NG+'s are easier because you get rewards for beating the game, but difficulty scaling doesn't change.
I freaking hate new game plus I wish they just gave you post game stuff because I beat the game before I was done doing everything I wanted and now if I try to go in that file it just tries to get me to make a new profile now I can’t enjoy the supports or any thing else
Pardon me for not first finishing this video before running my lips, but what is the point of New Game+ in the first place? (No I've never done "new game plus" for any game, FE or otherwise) From what you've explained so far (i'm half way through this video) you are starting over with all the effort no longer needed. You're effectively keeping your same characters just reset back to level 1. But that doesn't matter if you can just click a button and give them back their previous high tier mastery status ETC. And if you can keep doing new game plus cumulatively, you'll ultimately end up with every character at perfect maxed out proficiencies and skills. That is great and all, but for what purpose does this even matter? I just finished my first play through of the game ever last night. I rushed a bit more than I'd like to admit as my completion time was only 60 hours. But the game was pretty easy either way. And I was playing on Hard. What could possibly be presented to me to make new game plus matter at all? But my real question is this; Do I create 3 separate save files, one for each house and then new game plus each of them respectively? Or do I keep one save file and new game plus the same file and simply go through each route all on the same file? I don't know if I want to start the new game plus right now, or go to the separate file and start the new route.
It just adds a new dimension to the game. If you want to utilize the NG+ System, you get benefits on your next playthrough based on your previous one. Simply saying 'Hey since you beat the game, if you wanna play it and be overpowered go for it' To answer your real question, I'd recommend doing them all on one save file if you want to use the NG+ System. Just because you could go 3 different growth paths for byleth on each of these different play throughs, and be able to keep the skills, and class masteries you already gained to pull out when you want to use them. As to why you might want to NG+ it's maddening difficulty. The differences between hard mode, and maddening mode are drastic. I'm currently going through and focusing on all my characters' heavy armor skills for the - weight skill, for early game maddening mode, because I don't want to have all my opponents hitting me twice each round of combat.

@@MNtoCali thank you. I was aware of the glitch when FED made the first vids about it though. Although I thought it was silver bows that had a overflow combination that went for less then 100 renown? Maybe I missed something new though.
@@wouterW24 idk you just make it right around 66k renown and it gets super cheap works for anything that can get to that even if Rita 65400 reknown it breaks it
I'm on my 2nd playthrough.
Wow, you're here too best part 4 character.
Okuyasu the type of guy who would say characters like Gozales are top tier but wouldn’t know how to back it up with facts and just keep saying they’re good.
How about all the item llike swords fish tealeafs? Do i keep them? If so do i need the expansion pass plus for it or not?
yep yep byleth THE ONLY ONE with darting blow on M! Byleth ! ^) And quick riposte on F! Byleth!
When you're playing the game for the first time, three years later, because you played Engage and loved it but wanted a better story and just more Fire Emblem 😂
Yep that's me just started after beating engage and iam on my first playteough chat 9 blue lions
What chapter should you spend all your extra money buying battalions to prepare for new game+
before month 6 (CF), 7 (SS), 8 (AM/VW)
Question, do you get more Renown if you continuously use New Game+ on old save files that also used New Game+? Or is it preset and I’m seeing things. I swear I started with 10,000 the first New Game+, then 20,000 the second time, and the third time (now) I have 40,000. I could have sworn that’s how it’s gone. I think it’s doubled. Consistently.
Edit: You answered in the video. Thank you man, that’s so broken the more times you do it.
Can you stack new game pluses?
I believe so.
Yes. Data from your first play through can still carry over to your 4th play through
a very important tip i would give to players, would be to spend 1 normal playthru mastering every class in the game with every unit by spamming battles. tedious? absolutely. but i promise you will thank me later when you have access to insane ability combos that synergize so well that single units can solo maddening. alot of the abilities that synergize really effectively are unfortunately tied to classes that directly contradict each others requirements. the one ive been using is felix as a regular old swordmaster (sword-faire/crit +10) and i give him Vantage, Wrath, Lethality, Defiant Crit, and the last skill changes depending on the map. sometimes i put Renewal or miracle, sometimes Close Counter and a killer bow, sometimes dex+4 (to help lethality trigger) sometimes if i expect to keep my health above half i trade defiant crit for death blow with desperation and use a few wo dao+. other times i expect to keep my health low so i use the ashiya sword+ to damage myself but keep Renewal equipped and then Vantage Wrath Defiant Str and Lethality do the work for me. and the ashiya sword has such high crit its already at 100 with wrath so defiant crit is redundant and i can trade it for defiant str. the swordmaster class is important since the astra combat art fixes the extremely low trigger rate of lethality since each of the 5 hits has a chance to trigger it. i hadnt thought of it til just now, but if i used Petra instead, she could get defiant avoid instead of str or crit, and be untouchable. this all goes double for byleth since he can have every skill. at this point i kinda hope they make a DLC super insane difficulty or something because maddening is basically no different than normal with NG+.
I did 2 Golden Deer playthroughs the first time and now im doing my first Blue Lions run. Have yet to try Maddening, but with the meticulous way that I play and NG+ goodies, im looking forward to it.
Also, I like that you picked Ingrid, Felix, and Petra first to recruit. I do the same thing lol.
Excellent guide!
Does character leveling up slow down on NG+ if the skill levels are maxed out? Wonder if there’s a trade off there? Like, if I overpower a character with skill levels out of the gate, will they be slower to level up their stats?
You probably already know, but in my experience, it does not. Instead it just makes everything easier.
Can you finish the game in hard and doing a ng+ in maddening difficulty ? i really wanna know
Sadly, No you have to start on madness mode…so yeah all those hours you put in? You have to start from scratch
@@MrHolmesjustin66 Thanks for the answer , even if i know that now (my message is at least one year old ,i've finished the game already ) , i like when people took the time to answer .
So thanks you again for trying to help other people : )
when you do new game place can you change byleth's gender?
Cash is not a problem if you have the dlc pack, becouse you can spam cash battles who gives 10k per game easy
thank you so much for this

What about Healing Focus from "B" rank in Fist Weapons? It's such a life saver!
Healing focus is great! Another I didn’t mention was move +1 from riding. I should have mentioned more than I did!
Great video man thank you !
Huh, doesn't seem like something I'll want to use unless I attempt Maddening. The normal game on hard classic is just such a sweet spot for me difficulty-wise so I don't think I want to mess around with New Game+
ive always wanted to know what "clutch" means! i tried looking it up but theres like 100 different meanings and i always hear you say it :3
In the context he is using it in it means “to save the day” so if something or someone comes in clutch it’s like saying that thing or person saved the day when things were looking bad they or it turned it around and made it better it’s hard to explain hope it helps
How do you get that much renown
Question sir,
So did you purchased all that useless "battalions" from your previous playthrough and resold them back to the new game plus? Or did you already have all those "battalions" from free quest or etc.? All I know is that, you can't carry the money you have from your previous playthrough. Sorry for the trouble.
You get a ton of battalions from quest and gaiden chapters. Some of those are totally worthless.

I just need to clarified here, New Game + means deleting the data the file has?
No, it just essentially overrides your old save file to a new one while carrying over a few things which you can look up
No, it starts a new playthrough of the game but carry’s over the data of the previous play throughs
i played this game around 10 times, but just once using NG plus... cant stand having all these resources right out of the bat without any effort
same it doesnt feel as fun to be that overpowered right at the beginning especially considering how easy normal is
I totally get where you‘re coming from, but for me and many others it‘s more convenient to have these resources ready because you don‘t have to grind and teach skills too much if you‘re mostly there for the story
@@ihavenoidea8368 Not only that but it's fun to have the ability to use characters in classes they dont have the aptitude for or hate just because. This is the way

Honestly, I just max out the statues.
Everything else makes things too easy.
4:30 nice
Does your stats carry over in ng+
Stats do not carry over.
FED oh so can you do in ng plus I chose edelguard and how do you get your own house
FED also I’m on Chapter 6 any tips I run out of turns before I get to death knight

(No I've never done "new game plus" for any game, FE or otherwise)
From what you've explained so far (i'm half way through this video) you are starting over with all the effort no longer needed.
But my real question is this;
Do I create 3 separate save files, one for each house and then new game plus each of them respectively?
Or do I keep one save file and new game plus the same file and simply go through each route all on the same file?
I don't know if I want to start the new game plus right now, or go to the separate file and start the new route.
It just adds a new dimension to the game. If you want to utilize the NG+ System, you get benefits on your next playthrough based on your previous one. Simply saying 'Hey since you beat the game, if you wanna play it and be overpowered go for it'
To answer your real question, I'd recommend doing them all on one save file if you want to use the NG+ System.
