None the less I hope this helps out for players that might be struggling in hard mode or just helps you all get some easier structure for characters you might not have used before
My Annette is so slow I make her a rally bot and let her nuke people when she is safe. Whereas Mercedes can frontline using magic and is a far better healer.
My Sylvain and Annette are meh. Cant wait for Lunatic mode Golden Deer!
Lorenz is actually recruitable into the other houses. Claude is the only unit locked into the Golden Deer.

Is hilda the character that cannot be recruited? I believe she can be if you are in any house besides the black eagles

Venkatarangan J Well, I meant that by picking the Blue Lions, you already have 4 of the 7 units he recommends in the video, so you only have to recruit 3 other characters, which is much easier than if you were on a Black Eagle play through where you would need to recruit all 7, which can be a bit of a hassle, though, it really doesn’t matter which house you play in the end though, since any house can recruit these guys

Will disagree on making Mercedes a holy knight, she has access to one of the most broken heal spells in the game (fortify), its such a waste to pass up a white magic use x2 on her. Go for gremory instead. She also has decent magic growth and can go for the offensive if need be with black magic.
Also, I think Leonie and Hilda should probably up here as well as strong fliers.
Other than that, great recommendations.

I really like using Petra. She's great at mopping up weakened enemies thanks to her Personal Skill. I actually made her into an Assassin and never looked back. More often than not, she'd either Lethality or Crit her target on the spot.

Hilda probably wouldn't work since she's not recruitable in all three routes. Besides that, I'd say she's an amazing unit.
Having Petra to be an evasion tank assasin is quite good as well imo
Legit you can get her up to 100% crit relatively easily
I had her just like that on my Golden Deer playtrough. Nobody Hit her, and when it was her turn Killing Edge + and Critical Ring made her unstopable
Petra is really flexible so do what you like with her
With mine, I'll turn her into an assasin and after she masteryse, Swordmaster to the endgame

I would argue that several of the church members and Knights easily outclass many of the students. Catherine, Shamir, and Seteth all come with great base stats, great personal skills and require low investment compared too a lot of the students. Also Manuela easily learns the warp spell allowing for some easy 1 turn clears, wich will no doubt be a godsend in lunatic/abyssal.
I never noticed this, considering they fell behind my students before I even officially hit the time skip, even when I made a point to use them as they'd get... Maybe a stat in level up.
I've even had Shamir completely fail to gain anything on level up.
Anyone caan fail a lvl up, its pure rng it has nothing to do with character. And Catherine with her relic and strenght stat is busted, she is one of the units who can oneshot boss phases without any fuss. As for Shamir she has no problem keeping up with other bow students and with a tad bit of luck she can outclass them, +her max range is ridiculous
@@maxcepec9886 Never occured to me across both my first 2 playthroughs, and this 3rd one is gonna be Edelgard route so not really gonna have the chance to check.
Hopefully 4th run they won't get stat-screwed.
@@YourCrazyDolphin I mean in the end its all about not getting shitrolled, but in the 3 playthroughs i've seen, Cath always ended up on top. My favourite one was when she mimicked Petra and became a crit machine but she had like 1.5x more strenght than petra and thunderbrand against non crittable opponents :D
@@maxcepec9886 Meanwhile in my blue lions run, despite being at the same level she was just worse Felix, aside from taking less damage but that hardly matters when nothing can hit Felix to start.
Only way Cath could one round was with Thunderbrand, which is expensive as hell to fix... While Felix just needed an iron sword.
Not the best advice, fliers are by far the best physical class. A difference of class growths of, say, 10% is only going to make a difference of 2-4 points in each stat by the end of the game, which is more than compensated for by canto, ability to ignore terrain, and high move. Archer weakness is not a huge deal as dismount exists (the stat penalty is not large enough to matter by the time you actually have wyvern riders), or hit and run tactics can effectively snipe enemy archers, especially if combo'd with stride (or a whole fleet of wyverns, which is always a good idea.) Lysithea is very good, but is probably best as Bishop then Gremory to get two uses of warp per map. The game is easy enough on hard that you can run whatever team comp you want, but this is what I'd describe as `optimal':
1. Whichever lord you have
2. Blyeth, preferably as a flier
3. Lysithea
4 and 5. Two dedicated healers, preferably both with physic and at least one of which has restore. Since they're mostly healing their stats aren't a huge deal, but Mercedes is a good choice because she can face tank an enemy and then heal herself without having to worry if another enemy manages to hit her
6 and 7. Another two fliers. Ingrid is an easy choice though her strength can be a little underwhelming, Hilda is a very good wyvern rider if you have access, Petra has a flying talent and pretty good stats, etc. Even Seteth has good enough stats to fulfill this role, though he isn't as strong as trained students.
8. A bow knight. Bernadetta has one of the best personal skills but not-stellar stats, Leonie is also really strong
9. Anybody as a permanent dancer
10. Whoever you feel like, another flier or bow knight doesn't hurt
It's possible things will be different once lunatic is released, but historically, no Fire Emblem game has been difficult enough to change the fact that fliers, horses, and warpers are king (Thracia kinda deals with the first two.)
Agree fliers are by far the best physical class, my only question would be about Lysithea , how good would she be as a Dark knight?. While i agree that having 2 warps its really good a lot of times she cant reach the target you want because of lack of movement having her as a dark knight could solve that.

@@elroliz9442 I've never promoted her into a dark knight, but if movement is what you worry about, I'd say stride is awesome. Even though you can only use it twice per battle, in most battles it will be enough.
In lunatic/inferno there would be enemies with pass skill too (if you plan to play them), so you probably want Lysithea and all the squishy characters a bit behind from your frontline anyway.
Roop roop Gremory also gets white magic uses x 2 the only thing bishop has on Gremory is plus 10 to healing

Who is the best lord in your opinion ?
I'm sorry, but I think this is a very poor list, including some baffling choices (Annette as Gremory but Lysithea as a Dark Knight?). Here are my suggestions:
1. Mercedes: As the unparalleled best healer in the game she's the most glaringly obvious as useful no matter your play style.
2. Ferdinand: Ferdinand can potentially make the whole last third of the game easy even on Maddening. With Ferdinand's personal skill of +15 evasion at full health and a budding talent that grants Speed Seal, he's a pretty broken character. Put an evasion ring on him, raise his flying skills to A+, master Wyvern Rider, and reach Level 5 proficiency in bows. That will allow you to toss Ferdinand into a whole pack of enemies with a ranged weapon and Alert Stance+. He'll be nigh untouchable with +75 avoidance and every enemy he touches will be debuffed -6 defense and -6 speed and easy pickings for your other units.
3. Lysithea: She pretty much one-shots everyone. And, thanks to her having access to Thyrsus, her range is incredible. And on top of that, she has B-Rank access to Warp. Make her a Gremory and you can use it twice. Getting access to that Relic that gives her massive range is worth going out of your way to recruit Lorenz and never use him.
4. Flayn: Flayn's the obvious second healer. She has Fortify as well as the VERY useful Rescue which will not only save your team, but make missions where you're protecting villagers and such easier. If you're on a route where she's usable past the timeskip, keep her.
5/6. Petra/Seteth: Choose one as your second flyer. You won't regret it.
6. Catherine->Felix: You have access to Catherine as soon as you reach Level 15, which can be done early enough. At that point she'll be much more powerful than Felix AND be pre-promoted as a Swordmaster, so her growth rate will be better than his until at least until Level 20 and roughly equal thereafte. Felix only gets a nod later as his Relic is overpowered. You can keep Felix as her Adjutant until he gets his relic, or you can just run them both at that point because Catherine's growths are good enough to keep her viable throughout the run.
7. Shamir->Leonie: Shamir's in the same category as Catherine, but she fades a bit faster thanks to poor speed growth. I would suggest using Leonie as Shamir's Adjutant and work them both of to Bow Master. By the late game, Leonie can take over as your team's most consistent Bow Master.

Bernadetta is my quintessential Bow Knight and Dorothea is THE dancer of the game (unless you used it on Felix and etc for Sword Avo +20).
Right now I'm playing around with Darting Blow Leonie for a Bow Knight. It's hillarious and ,akes me wonder why I didn't do it on my first run with Leonie.
Something to note, if you want a dancer out of all of these seven, marianne fits, she even gets a magic-based sword from a paralogue

So, I haven’t reached late game on a higher difficulty yet, but I do know that Gremory Lysithea with Thyrsus was great on my first run and made up for some of the range she loses by not going Dark Knight (also had Lorenz going Dark Knight anyway and I wanted some variety). It’s also nice that she has access to Warp and is just another unit that can heal well enough in cases where I have to divide my forces.
Lysithea is actually unique in that she can use two Heroes' Relics: Thyrsus and Thunderbrand, as she possesses both the Crest of Charon (Thunderbrand) and the Crest of Gloucester (Thyrsus). Only one other character in the game has two Crests, and they don't gain access to two Heroes' Relics like Lysithea can.

No offense but this video is not that great. The recommended students are pretty bad and are outclassed by other students outright. For example, Ashe is the worst of the three archers from each house with a useless personal skill due to how cheap chest keys are. Also a character with better growths like leonie would just be better as an archer in every way possible. Marianne is decent but Mercedes and Linhardt are just better, all three have physic but warp and fortify is better than silence. And Annette is probably the worst mage in the game she isnt particularly strong and shes actually quite slow. The spells she gets are nothing special and shes literally outclassed by lysithea and hubert in almost every single way. I do agree with lysithea and felix though shes easily the best mage in three houses hands down and felix is an incredible combat unit with the 2nd best strength and speed growths in the game, meaning he has outstanding offensive growths, and probably the best combat crest in the game. Also no mention of Sylvain? Hes a free recruit for females, has spectacular growths, a nice passive which works especially well with units like leonie and hilda, and is one of only three units to learn the best lance art in the game swift strikes, the only other two being ferdinand and seteth. This amazing art is also made even better by his crest hes even decent with magic if you wanna make him a dark knight but imo why do that when you can just make every physical unit a wyvern.
Slender Boris I put my Ashe on a wyvern and he easily was one of my best units, able to solo entire sections of maps on his quest to gather chests. The massive movement boost made it incredibly easy to grab chests without the need for keys. No keys meant my units had more space in their inventories for more useful equipment, and they were able to advance without worrying about detours.
@@gamefox761 ok any physical unit is good on a wyvern and ashe has a terrible 35 strength growth meaning hes very likely to get strength screwed like ingrid. A 35 strength growth is abysmal on a physical unit it is only 5% higher than annette and hubert... Its a joke. Its not just his strength growth either he only has a 20 defense growth meaning hes very likely to be quite squishy. His personal skill is also just objectively bad when chest keys are so cheap, and youll mostly only need 2 per map some need 3 but even then its not a huge deal. He has all these downsides and the best part is hes not even that fast, hes shares his speed with, or has less than, other characters who are stronger and bulkier. He has all these shortcomings and doesnt even have a crest meaning he cant use weapons like failnaught without being injured. Seriously your ashe may have turned out good but hes still an objectively bad unit who is overshadowed, if you want an archer leonie is better and if you want a wyvern then there are a PLETHORA of other better choices.
@@jackkemp176 idk if was lucky on my bl path but ashe pretty much got patch going for wyvern, deblow help him a lot and he can double a lot too... a flying tief is really helpfull you should try it once. I mean wyvern IMO the best physical class, but asssasin felix is too good to be ignored (letality).
Annette has rally skills though she can't be the worst unit mage
@@rubytuesday8849 This game probably features the absolute worst incarnation of rally skills, unlike in fates or awakening they are single target not a 2 space aoe. This mean that rallies will only boost 1 person whereas in other games they could boost everyone in a 2 space radius. And even then the only two rallies she learns are rally speed and resistance until s rank authority then she gets rally movement. Most of the time youd rather just attack with your extra unit and youll end up doing more than rallying, rallies are so situationally useful and its all Annette has going for her.
I would actually recommend you make Felix a Mortal Savant. He has a budding talent that that adds +10 crit to reason magic. The +10 crit with his high dexterity makes him a force to be reckoned with and he can now damage enemies with out being next to them. If that wasn't enough, Felix can also use faith magic and more healing is never a bad thing. Some would say that they could just use a Levin Sword but they would have to repair it, they wouldn't get the +10 crit, and no more additional healing for their team
I couldn't recommend that. Mortal Savant reduces his speed growth by 10%. And even with that class' bonus to magic, his magic growth would only be an underwhelming 40%, since his base Magic Growth is only 30%. If all that wasn't beyond bad enough, his spell list for Reason is a joke. He only has two spells and his highest spell is a mere C rank. There are no characters in the game with fewer spells or lower ranked max spells than him.
if you want range on felix give him a bow. Rather than take him to master class just do assassin. so much more useful.
@@RexZShadow I dunno, Felix with a Levin sword does massive damage and his small spell list still nukes any armor wearer that he can't one shot. I just hate battalions Nerf him a little bit after the armor is shattered all the way he usually one shots any beast.
@@keithelliott9376 The game's level cap is 50. You're not meant to reach that cap early even with Renown bonuses unless you massively overuse a unit and favor them. Cap class in this game isn't a thing. The level system this time was specifically designed this way. Growths will always matter. 45% is also a pretty damn bad speed growth for a speedster.
If your argument is "You can still beat the game on Hard if you do it so it doesn't matter", we are not having the same discussion. I once did a meme one where every unit had a class they didn't want and obviously still easily beat the game. This is about optimal classes. MS Felix is massively inferior to his other options. That it doesn't matter for beating the game is a given.
Felix's stat growths are good. Literally nobody said otherwise. His stat growths are not good for MS though. They are in fact terrible for it. He's not made to be a MS and neither is Caspar.
Late game I would just combine mortal savant Felix and lythesias warp to instantly kill the Enemy commander

I was considering Leonie and tbh looking back she might be a better archer class overall then Ashe but I’ve had great experiences with both so it was hard to choose. Sylvia is a better unit as a heavy armor then Raphael (in my option) but I think the war master unit is a better unit to have to add more diversity to your team
You can get Catherine and Shamir pretty early and both have great bases that are extremely useful on maddening

Honestly make sure you get a Gauntlets user( I did a BL run without one and really felt the difference).
Also a Gremory Dortohea is great for utility and Meteor X2.
I think Dorothea is better as a dancer. Her growths aren't that great and there are much better options for utility, such as Lysithea or Marianne. Her only advantage against anyone else is Meteor.
Some people might actually use it but it makes more sense to me for her to equip it and never actually use it in order to basically support everyone.
Caspar is a really good gaunlets user!!! A physichal glasscanon actually.

He's arguably the worst archer in the game by a decent margin.
Whoa now! I agree Ashe sucks, never used Marianne, but on Maddenning, Annette's rallies can make the difference between being doubled or not. Even if her combat blows, which I don't agree with, she at least has that going for her whereas units like Ashe have nothing.

Maybe I was just lucky but my Hilda is at like 18 for both str and speed at level 11 rn, shes doubled literally everything thrown at her so far, one rounding most enemies
Hilda is pretty awesome as a Wyvern Lord in my experience.
I made my Hilda into a Great Knight just because I find it funny that since she's so lazy, I made her into a class where even just moving around might be considered "work"....and because I find it amusing to have her holding the front line all on her own when she'd prefer to "cheer you on from the sidelines". ....Does that make me a bad person?

I still remember the old days of the GBA games where if you made certain characters into say, a general instead of a great knight, you’d just screw them over
Have you tried making her into a dancer class? Do her budding talent thing to get the -3 weight for weapons and not only does she hits more then once but can dodge the heck out of attacks. I also then gave her the speed ring. hardly anyone or if anyone could hit her at that point. Plus from my run of this she crit the heck out of high dex/def guys with magic. I tell ya she isn't someone you want to mess with. This is just my thoughts on Hilda.
I recommend taking any magic user, even if it’s a healer, towards the mage route. Fiendish blow is too good of a skill. Same thing for any offensive physical unit to take a brigand path
I’d also argue that the skills units learn is important to consider as well. Dorothea learns meteor along with pretty great growths, which I think inches her over Annette.

Probably, but Annette's magic stats are much higher. I don't understand what's so bad about her, she worked great for me. Dancer is a better class for Dorothea because of her sword boost and low growth rates.
Personally I enjoy Mortal Savant Felix and Assassin Ashe because Felix is about the same but now he has extra weapon types and Ashe is now more speedy then...everything
That is a good way to put Ashe I never had him as an assassin but the lethality ability would be phenomenal with him
Personally I think that bernadetta is a better unit due to her better fitting the bow knight class.
Marianne as a dancer works pretty good actually. You can make her a support unit that can also do damage
The dancer class has 3 skills that lose 10 points of growth and is actually looking back a horrible class.
I consider dorathea better than annette because she gets meteor. So many bosses can be taken out by softening them up with a meteor from basically anywhere on the battlefield and then taken down before counterattack by byleth. IMO all you really need is gremory dorathea, gremory lysithea (for warp), and byleth. Warp byleth in, soften up boss with meteor, have byleth finish off the boss. Walls, terrain, enemies. None of that makes any difference. I don't think I had a single map go past 3 rounds after I started doing this. Could make someone else a dancer to give dorothea a chance to use meteor again in one round. She also gets physic which is solid.
IMO it's insane not to make mercedes a gremory as well for double uses of fortify which is OP as hell.
I'm also not sure who if anyone would benefit from going the dark seal route. Lifetaker would be godlike on a somewhat tanky damage dealer but its male only and I'm not sure who would make a good one. If you were to make felix a mortal savant he might be a good candidate. Make dark knight lorenz?
hubert is the only character that benefits because he's the only other dark magic user.

No... He only needs to learn reason magic which he excels in...
Also, Lysithea should always end in Gremory. Her defense being low isn't a problem unless you put her in range of ballista. Everything else gets one shot and she gets the staff that increases range which completely gets rid of most counterattacks, along with higher growth in magic.
Why does no one get that most of the master classes are bad I don’t understand also Felix doesn’t excel in reason and there really isn’t any point in teaching him magic like seriously just have him learn swords and he will just keep getting crits
@@espeon37 Plenty of reason to learn magic. He has a hidden talent in reason right? Learning magic = not using durability + range. Doesn't even need swords once he becomes mortal savant, and bonuses are higher. Obviously the game is easy enough that it doesn't matter, but if you want maximum gain, mortal savant is the way to go.
Legitimately the only class that's better than master class is Petra Assassin and Catherine Swordmaster.
I don't know about that, Lysithea does benefit a lot from being a Gremory, but Mortal Savant ( is it the ninja class ? Sorry, my game's not in English ) is also a good pick. If you give her a Levin Sword, it's great too.
Disagree on Felix, you want to get Vantage andr leathality on him, and he's an absolute beast.
And for Lysithea, if you pick up Lorenz's relic she can equip it, which makes her range a terrifying 1-5

Leonie's stat growths kinda blow both Bernadetta and Ashe's growths out of the water, however a big game changer that was forgotten to be mentioned are weapon arts specific to certain characters. Deadeye which is given to Ashe and Berny exclusively is in my opinion the most broken weapon combat in the game. I do think Bernadetta outclasses Ashe though due to her ability which I have found to be extremely useful in taking out enemies in harder difficulties.

I appreciate that you qualified that this is for normal and hard-mode, but personally, as a player who's finished maddening multiple times, I'd say these recommendations are not in line with the meta.
Lysithea, for instance, is a much more natural gremory than she is a dark knight. The additional magic uses that she gets in the gremory class, the fact that you can boost her range with Thyrsus, and her squishiness regardless of what class you put her make her ideal for this use. The only real advantage you get for dark knight is canto, which is good, but it's also time-intensive to raise the respective skills for this when apples to apples most people will argue that gremory is just a better fit.
Marianne is another example as moving her to the holy knight class reduces her white magic uses by 50% in exchange for canto. Not a great idea if she's your main healer, as this limits your use of physic by half, which is the ability that most people are going to use her for on most turns. Of course, this depends on how you play and requires a larger conversation about composition and play-style.
As a general note, you seem to be very keen on the idea that Master Classes are Pareto optimal to Advanced Classes, which is untrue. There is usually a trade-off, even beyond the investment in skills required. Moreover, the class abilities are much more important than class growth if you are going to only do a normal/hard mode game.
Going to be honest, everything you said is mostly wrong.
1. Knights and church members are pretty good. Catherine and shamir literally makes the mid game so easy. With great bases, they are pretty much gonna be necessary in lunatic
2. Units on this list.
Lysithea def deserves it.
Felix is debatable, but ur reasoning is wrong. His best class is actually bow knight.
Leonie is a strictly superior to Ashe. No reason to use him over Leonie.
The healers dont deserve to be here since they are all about the same and no point in putting them all here(Linhardt is the best thou because of warp).
Annette is clearly the worse magic users. Hubert has better growths, Dorothea has better spells to learn(thoron, meteor, physics), Lorenz has an early game relic that helps him with his movement problem.
Raphael is only good early game, might be necessary for lunatic early game. However, hes pretty bad/mediocre rest of the game.
3. You literally didn’t include anything about flying. They are broken in this game due to canto and weakness to arrows are negated because dismount.
4. Lorenz is recruitable. I think you got confused with Hilda, who is still recruitable except Edelgard’s route.
Personally recommend checking serenes forest discussion on tier list it is pretty insightful.

For me I used Leonie in every route and she always had rock solid strength, speed and defense growths making her a well rounded paladin and a fantastic bow knight.
I havent played all of golden deer, but I can say from what I've played, that being blue lion, and black eagles, all these characters are good. Also, maybe I'm just high, or need to finish my golden deer playthrough, but so far my Annette has been more efficient then my lysithea everytime I use the two of them
Topher Kauffman then you got rng fucked because lysithea is disgustingly broken and anything that doesn’t die in one shot should be killed by a double. lysithea should have around 10 more magic points than annette at level 25-30 which makes a massive difference. sorry about that
How is mercedes anything close to viable? Her personal ability is trash because no matter what, you cant expect to put her in front lines and take a hit without dying, her growth rates fall short of other support mages and other than heals, she has no utility spells. Missing out on the mobility spells and silence is a big no-no and lets be honest, the only time i ever saw fortify healing more than 2 people was when the quake spell was used. And you can easily manage healing 2 units every turn considering that most people run 2 dedicated healers and even then you still have 1 or 2 more heal users in your team for most of the game.
Actually Lorenz can be recruited. He will leave your class during the time skip tho. You can retrieve him by defeating and sparing him with Byleth

What I did with Raphael was focus on flying along with the axe fighting and moved up to wyvern rider and wyvern lord. Not only does that give him more mobility, but also doesn't cut down drastically on his speed.

bit to ashe: like many other archers, he can suffer from bad rng level ups, so if your ashe for some reason has low strength, prep it up by permament stats boost, it will help him especially alot as a bow knight.
reason for that is all archer units have a strength growth around 35% and the archer line doesnt give any bonus strength except for sniper, which gives +5%. you could make an argument switching him into a class that gives strength like swordmaster and keep using the bow for mastery, but that is something you have to decide for yourself.
about lysithea: you could make an argument for turning her into a gremory instead of a dark knight because of her secondary usage as a warp user, also she can be tanky with nosferatu, healing the damage dealt to her instantly.
to mercedes and marianne: same as lysithea, you could make them into gremory, their healing range is absurd so that i dont fear enemy units snipe them. but i do agree that a bit more defense does help. on the otherhand, making them a gremory gives them also offensive options, which can be helpful like rushing down bosses, but that is up to debate. though, Marianne get frozen lance, making her offensive capabilities at least higher than mercedes, making her going down the holy knight route might work better for her.
about anette: if you are playing blue lion, you will get her unique relic axe, of which the damage output is dependant on the magic stat. she also can use bolt axe at axe C, of which the damage output depends on magic stat.
so, in theory, you could turn her into a wyvern lord using her magic axes literally smash eveyrone to death. thinking about it, you can turn any magic user into a great physical damage dealer as long as you grind their skills a bit + equip them with a magic weapon. lysithea could get a levin sword and soulblade, making her a decent mortal savant if needed...
In my opinion, Hilda is a very good unit and is one of the few ones you actually want to invest on the hidden talent! I'm naturally playing on hard (casual hard) and she's doing absolutely fine against archers and receiving doubles from time to time, only to get 2 or 3 damage if even. Obviously having some care and knowledge about where enemy magic users stand and that but yeah, Hilda? Definetly a good pick! She also comes with the hero's relic "Freikugel", pretty neat
She is a pretty solid choice but believe she can be hard to recruit into other houses as she likes to stay with Claude (from my experiences/understanding)
Well hopefully as time goes this shouldn't be too much of an issue, I believe that there are three reasons to have her: first and foremost as you said, she's one heck of a unit and honestly very valuable and can suit different possitions depending on what you need and keep using an axe in most situations, she's a very fun and overall bautifull character and (as I said previously) if you can recruit her in time, you're granted a heroic relic (I don't tend to use them a lot but I sure believe that just having one for a commander or a boss could be very valuable, and they have their own combat art, don't want to miss that out) I didn't knew that Hilda was harder to recruit but if you can manage to do it before that date of the paraloge ends then it's pretty much a total win

Really dont know what marianne and mercedes are doing in thaf list. Both are mediocre units who have little to offer compared to linhardt or lysithea. Even flayn have more to offer ( acess to rescue )

If any begginer want to know which characters to recruit for lunatic. Well, lysithea,ingrid,petra are the main ones. Hilda is great but not avaiable for BE. Felix works and not hard to get, tho not as good as the first 2. Sylvain is a free unit to recruit if you get fbyleth and he gets some nice combat arts. Everyone else is honestly not that worthy,but just go with your favs :)
I don't think Mercedes and mediocre belong anywhere near each other, Physic and Fortify are just way too good and Live to Serve is nice, not to mention pretty good mixed bulk but I guess it's up to rng for that last point.

Everygood healer should already have physic and its not hard to manage things with 1-2 physical healer. So yea, she is quite mediocre. Difference is lysithea is a nuke with stupid range an a better support who gets access to warp.
Instead of recruiting mercedes for example. You should just recruit a unit like Ingrid or Petra. Who are just units that work no matter which house they go ( good proeficiencies. In special petra with access to axes/fliers/bows and ingrid with no bane and constant lances/flying training ).
Jlima 5 ??? One of the most reasons Felix is recruited by a lot is because of his great stat growths AND his broken crest which seems to have a very high proc chance according to most players. Mercedes isnt mediocre at all since she’s undisputedly the best healer in the game with her heal spell list and her personal ability (You wouldn’t have to waste another slot for a secondary healer for her or waste another healer’s to heal her) which is what u want in lunatic or so on. While Lindhart’s warp is useful it’ll only have 2 uses max and probably will only see little use since u won’t send a single unit on their own in lunatic.
Felix have solid stats, there is no denying in it. but his class flexibility isn't the best, and he wont survive long if he can't retreat after an attack ( which fliers and horses can ). crests aren't nearly as good as people make them out to be, felix crest is chance of doing +5 damage, great for early game, but falls off quite fast. Now compare felix to units like Leonie, Ingrid or Petra, those three can pretty much go with any physical class, which is quite important. they get an easy access to stuff like bow knight, Pegasus, Wyverns ( both the best classes in the game ). on top of that, Felix have a terrible bane in authority, meaning he will have trouble getting to the strong battalions that are just better than his personal skill. He still is good to recruit tho, just not the best of the BL, that would be ingrid.
for mercedes, no lol, she isn't the best healer. only unique thing she really have is fortify, and that's not even needed to keep your units safe. Live to serve is useful on paper, but on mercedes is pure garbage, since she dies to anything that touches her ( except mages ), and this will get even worse in lunatic mode. Healers aren't only made to be heal, they also should carry utility. Linhardt for example have insane utility with rescue and warp, both skills can save your units much more effectively or end maps earlier, he have physic on top of that. Marianne have Silence, which makes mages effectively useless for a turn, it buys you time to kill other stuff safely. and that's not even counting other mage units like Lysithea or dorothea who gets physic. Moral of the story, Mercedes is just a waste of space when you might be already filling your team with 1-2 healers ( with physic, warp, rescue or other utility staff. ) and 2 or even more mages sometimes ( chances are, at least 1 of them have physic ). this is more than enough to keep your units safe, making mercedes obsolete. heck she might be worse than flayn, and flayn is quite bad bcs of her stats, only thing she have is rescue, and that alone makes her more useful than mercedes.
if i were to give a list of recommended units to recruit. well, depends on what you need on your team.
Combat units - Ingrid, Petra, Felix, Leonie,Sylvain ( he comes for free if you play as Fbyleth )
Ultility units/Mages - Lysithea, Linhardt, Dorothea, Marianne, Annette ( she gets some nice rallies, which might come in clutch. a bit of a stretch ).
if you are going to play lunatic, you want to have at the very least 2 or 3 fliers. they are oppressive and safe to attack/retreat if needed, have the best stats for any class on top of that. having too much infantry makes it easier to get overwhelmed by the enemy + makes you play too slowly. why using an infantry to complete a chapter in 10 turns, when you can use a flier to complete it in 6 or less?
Jlima 5 Lindhart doesn’t get Rescue he only has warp. And you’ll pretty much only need C rank for battalions on most units especially Felix when you should rather use those training points to get the main skills to S+ QUICK for the abilities. Your reasoning for Mercedes’ “weakness” is so stupid when it is true for all mages LMFAOOOOO heck Lysithea has a 10% def growth but they’re not meant to be in the frontlines in the first place. However they’re still gonna be reached by arches/fliers late game and will still take damage. Getting another healer’s turn to heal the healer is a waste when you can use that healer to go for another unit. And most of the time you would want to split your forces up and not have two healers at the same side.That’s why Mercedes’ personal skill is treasured. And you can’t call her a trash unit when you recommend Marianne later when she’s basically Mercedes but with a much weaker spell list and a situational personal ability which you won’t even use because you don’t want to put her in the front line.

One of my roomates and I were both back-to-back getting poor level ups for ashe. Apparently everything was a joke to him lol (his bad stat lvlup saying) late game as a bow knight he was slightly redeemed but the overall damage by then was too far done. If it wasnt vs a squishy magic user, he wouldnt amount to much besides opening chests

Ashe: Only thing he has going for him is Deadeye which he shares with Bernadetta who can use it better. Deadeye's value is in making the unit a flyer and still having a 5 range attack.
Felix: Is the best Physical attacker you can recruit which also makes him the best Bow user, not Ashe. As long as Felix is using a str based weapon, you are using him correctly.
Lysithea: She is the Mage equivalent to Felix. The Glassiest of Cannons that is ready to nuke things.
Marianne: Mercedes is a better pure healer and Dorothea is a better combo healer/nuker.
Mercedes: Don't go Holy Knight, go Gremory. She is a pure healer that doesn't need to be anywhere near the front lines to heal. Best to maximize her uses of Physic and Fortify as that is basically all she is there for. Also skip Priest and go Mage as the Priest master ability is useless.
Annetta: Has the worst spell list of all the high magic units by a large margin. Her best master class is Wyvern Lord with a Bolt Axe+ or Falcon Knight with Arrow of Indra+ if going Black Eagle route.
Raphael: This game is all about mobility and range so he is best with a Wyvern Lord which is the best class for a reason.
Any list that doesn't include Dorothea is just wrong as she has the best overall spell list.
Not everyone has to recruit Dorothea that just your preference.

Dorothea's Spell List makes her a character that is noteworthy.
She wasn't mentioned in the video, but Ingrid has always been solid for me, doubles nearly everything minus fast enemies and bosses, and excellent crit potential to boot. and if her magic is at least decent giving her a leven sword for armor enemies is a sound strategy.
Ok way too much magic units, and first Lysithea is most definitely not a magic tank, as you said she’s frail which is the opposite of a tank, Lorenz is a better option as a dark knight he has overall higher defense and resistance,make Lysithea a germory as it suits her way better for offense and utility , get rid of Marrianne for linhardt as his crest will allow him to top off all your units and he gets warp which is a plus, Ashe can be replaced with honestly anyone so Petra her personal skills alone is way better than Ashe could ever be, Felix is fine and as far as class goes he kinda works as anything but magical (only learns 2 reason spells), Raphael is fine but he’ll get destroyed my any magic unit, Leonie is honestly a way better option for archer but I’m seeing some comments on wyvern lord which sounds fun, and you have nxt to no flyers. Yeah outside of Felix a lot of these are kinda bad, Mercedes is good but keep her as a bishop, holy knight is ass. Also yes Dedue and Hubert are locked to their respective routes but Hilda isn’t and she is really good, wyvern rider or warrior real go well with her

I think only big thing Marianne may have over Linhardt is that she does have access to Gremory if you wanted to make her that, and can take advantage of both her reason and faith spell list then vs one or other which Lin has to deal with

Marianne get her lance to c (for holy knight) then train her with swords if you can soon she will learn soul sword wich is a magic attack and increases might based on res then give her a levin sword(and a normal sword to use on magicians or for the combat art soul sword) also her relic weapon (blutgang) is a sword wich has dubbel type effectiveness (with it's combat art)
And i highly recommend fliers they have pretty great abilities to learn
Also if it's not to much out of the way go to the warrior class especially if you are a flier they learn wrath add that with wyvern lord defiant crit and alert stance+(high flying ability i think S) and falco knight defiant avoid
And instead of focusing on making some weak stats less weak focus on their strengths or on stats that are okay so that might become good for versatility

Seteth is amazing. Legit destroyed everyone and never got hit. He also makes a fantastic flyer combo with Ingrid. Those two cleared all maps, didn't even need Byleth or Dimitri.
Forget trying to patch up weaknesses and just play to their strengths. For example, Dimitri shits on physical units but his res will always be bad so let Ashe or Ingrid pick off the mages. If you're not using them, use Mercie to draw them in then Tempest lance their ass for the one hit kill. I won't even assume you're not using Mercie as she's the best healer in the game.
Ashe, I made him an assassin and he was literally unkillable, shit was cash money.
I also made my Marianne into a dancer and she's great.
While I see the point of having Lysithea as a dark knight I’d still say having her as a Gremory is just as powerful. Sure she will not have the double amount in dark magic AND she will not have the movement but with the Gloucester Relic she will still have a decent range all around. And if you had Dorothea as a Dancer no one would be left behind in the long run
I’d also say making Felix a Mortal Savant is amazing as well. He can do so much damage since his hidden skill gives his Thunder and Thoron 10% more Crit
Black tomefaire doesn't help Lysithea because she uses dark magic, not black magic. Just make her a gremory and give her the march ring to keep up. Gremory gets the double dark magic.
Where is Shamir? That character is a literal God on normal difficulty. Especially with the Church Route (The only one I completed as of right now, on Golden Deer). Her amazing dexterity, speed, range, and power on all her attacks make her a nightmare for enemies to deal with. If you give her a magic bow too, she eats every armoured unit for Lunch alongside any flier. Might I add she was literally impossible to kill. Now in hard, I did find it understandable, she does fall down a bit since it's way easier to get hit in hard, plus she does get outclassed by a good chunk of the characters. Bit if I'm being honest, I think she may actually be the best choice for a Sniper in this game and one of the best Bow Knight choices just under Leonie. She especially helps since you can get her so damn early in the game and is a must have for chapter 6. The first chapter where she becomes recruitable, get her, she is a must need for that chapter and might actually be the best unit for mid game from my experience.

I'm loving this game
I'm replaying Three Houses again on Maddening and managed to recruit everybody with the exception of Raphael, Mercedes, and Marianne (those rascals!). The main downside to recruiting characters later on is not being able to manage their skill focus as well as not having any of their classes mastered. So essentially you get them with like three learned abilities lol. But that's just a minor inconvenience and totally worth snagging everyone that you can.
Overall, I'm really enjoying the sword builds best-Felix, Yuri, and of course my Byleth. They are one of the more reliable classes and typically double up enemies. Haven't been able to utilize Ingrid much since she really needs to help in a few areas before she is ready for primetime (in my playthrough). Her tankiness, flying ability, and quickness are going to rock once she's ready. I'm trying to master her older classes first since she was a recruit.
I absolutely HATED Lysithea in the early game (she was one of my first recruits). Her range and movement are so short that she becomes more of a liability for me. Didn't really use her much until after Chapter 10. But now she is thriving with the +2 range staff and pretty much unstoppable. Having her and Dorothea as my Dancer is ridiculously fun lol. Constance is also very good as well. She's a bird mage sniper 😃
Lastly, I want to talk about Petra; she is my GIRL! Either I've been lucky or her stat growths are insane because her current stats are pretty close to my Byleth's stats, which is wild. Her Str/Speed/luck/Cha are all above 30. I think her chance to crit is at around 35% with her axe. Her only weaknesses are archers (she's on a wyvern), lack of Battalion options, and middle of the ground Resistance. Other than that, she has been beast all game and highly recommend her!
Where Bernadetta? Persecution Complex + vengeance + crit chance increase setup + attacks first on defense = free win
I'm sorry, but saying it takes too many skills to teach Felix to become a master class (I know mortal savant isn't all that great, but hey) but saying to make lysithea a dark knight is worthwhile in comparison is a bit weird.
Mortal savant needs swords and reason.
Dark knight needs lances, riding, and reason.
By default lysithea will only be learning reason and maybe some faith with the classes you said to put her through, and focusing on teaching her the other 2 skills throughout the entirety of the game.
Should also add that Felix also gets +10 black magic crit when he masters his budding talent, which is huge when he does become a mortal savant
everyone is useful i mean for real..everyone is either balanced or BADASS, just pick and recruit who you like, but i do admit that the level ups can be very cruel to some characters. if you start a new game + it can be even easier to train students who might start off very weak and need alot of babying to handle their own..i mean i heard many say Bernie is kick ass but in ny game she gets screwed over each time she levels up..so she needs alot of babying and stats bonuses to get her somewhere :l
I had my first death due to Dedue being Nuked by Lisithea... She almost one shots every physical character including Demitri.

However to tell the truth before I got the game I did want to recruit Lysithia and Caspar. I just didnt want to invest in Magic or Brawling with Byleth. Now I know you just need a B support to get them to join but I didnt know that until late in the game.
@@sherrdreamz7232 B Support and D+ in the Skill they like IIRC. Still not hard to manage, but it's still worth noting. Lysithea was actually my first ever recruit, and she outright came to me to ask to join my Class to boot. She's a total monster. She's basically Thanos as a pretty young woman. Any enemy she so much as looks at might as well just turn to dust on the spot she deals so much damage. Though, honestly putting Dedue into her attack range to begin with was already a mistake since Armored units have always been vulnerable against magic (it's what keeps them balanced, they can eat physical hits for breakfast, but magic just makes them disintegrate and they are slower than most other units). Ingrid would likely have been a wiser choice since Pegasus/Falcon Knights tend to just laugh at enemy mages who attack them.
Ingrid as a falcon knight worked wonders for me, would recommend to annyone

If you're assessing who to pick up based on growths, unique personals and unique combat arts, he is the worst archer available. I understand leaving Church units off, but an exception should be made for Catherine (recruitable Chapter 4) and Shamir (recruitable Chapter 6). Leonie, Shamir and Bernadetta far outclass Ashe as an archer thanks to personals and growths, and even Ignatz's +20 hit > useless Locktouch. Just buy keys on fliers.
"Build Ashe as a wyvern!" That speaks to the usefulness of the wyvern class, not Ashe. Wyverns are bonkers. There are a ton of better wyvern riders than Ashe. Please never touch Ashe. Even as BL, he's going to be riding your bench the minute you start picking up other students.
Your team should be: Byleth, house lord, Catherine or Felix swordmaster, Lysithea Gremory, Mercedes Gremory, Marianne or Dorothea Dancer, Petra and Ingrid as fliers, Leonie or Shamir Bow Knight, Lindhardt Bishop (for 2x Warp). Try to have 3 fliers total, and a warmaster, so there can be some movement or shifting in this list. Honorable mentions to Hilda, Ferdinand, and Sylvain, all definitely usable. Hubert is a baller DK, but only on BE runs, and still feels like overkill for magic.
Yes, yes, I agree, although Assassin is a great class for Petra too. Sure, she doesn't get the second move after battle, but she still has a wide range of movement and she excels with the bow ( as a secondary skill, that is )

Correction lorenz is recruitable later in the game so far as I know. When playing the blue lions route when you defeat him you can ask him to join you and he did for me and since he is with edlgard in that moment then he will likely be there too.

I’ve played this through four times. Ashe was the worst archer. Felix gets hit hard for not having a battalion and his stat boost is necessary just to overcome that.
Lysethia is decent but she doesn’t get 3 range attacks and is easy to kill. Her warp is great and I agree she is powerful. I like Dorothea a bit more.
My favorites are Lorenz, Ingrid, leonie, Mercedes, Dorothea, Raphael (brawler, not Knight), Bernadette or Cyril.
I think its better to give Felix a battalion giving him fraldarius soldiers give him 7 atk and plus 20 crit
Lysithea has thyrus so she has 5 range so she shouldnt really be getting hit
Actually, Marianne is best as a dancer because she is good at riding and swords, which is the combo you want for a dancer.
I appreciate you making this. It's clear everyone has their own preferences and play style. Yours vary widely from mine. From my experience though Raphael despite how much love I put into him isn't that great. He's honestly a poor tank and was only mildly useful once I turned him into a War Master. Probably the 2nd weakest Golden Deer student, just above Ignatz. It breaks my heart to say it because I love those guys.
Yea I was personally struggling to find a good tank unit from the three houses as dedue wasn’t an option unless you play blue lions :( most units don’t build to tanks very successfully
@@UnpunkThat's understandable. Honestly unless you spec completely into avoid nobody seems like an outstanding tank. The best results I've had are students with a healthy balance of stats. Dark Knight Lorenz and Sylvain come to mind. Trying to get my Ferdinand into Great Knight at the moment and he seems promising. On a side note I can't wait to try out Ashe, Mercedes, and Annette when I finally get to my BL run.

My Petra got screwed on both playthroughs she was on with her pathetic str. It was so bad she could even kill mages while criting. Absolutely unusable on both hard and maddening.
why would annette be superior compared to Dorothea? Dorothea gets Meteor and Thoron, also Physic, she's the best gremory range wise and if you equip her with a good staff, she can one shot with Meteor late game even sub-bosses... in my chapter 17-part II in hard mode BE playthrough she one shotted Ashe and almost one shotted OP Cyril from 10 range w/ meteor... also, no list of OP characters should omit Cyril, he's the Donnel of 3H :D
Cyril has been dogshit for me on GD route, same goes for Dorothea :(

My Cyril started crappy but the increase in aptitude and experience ring eventually made him my strongest unit doubling everything. His defense and res are not good though "I blame RNG tho".
I would rate Dorothea over Annette based on her spell list. Annie lacks long range options, Dorothea has Thoron AND Meteor.
In my Golden Dear New Game +, I used many fliers and mages. In my current Blue Lion NG + hard mode, I’m using Gremory Byleth, Mortal Savant Felix, Gremory Anette, Gremory Lysithea, Gremory Mercedes, Dancer Sylvain, Holy Knight Ingrid (was a flier for 99% of the game though, and her strength was really terrible so i made it so she could use magic, which helped a lot), Wyvern Lord Seteth, Bow Knight Ashe, Gremory Dorothea (Meteor and Physic are amazing). It’s my third playthrough, so I was able to recruit every character except Hubert.

Petra - dodge assassin flying walking crit murder machine however you decide to build her. Dodge n crit.

Bow Knights with brave or long bows... mad range, great damage, and can even Kite some enemies.
Gremory - extra magic uses for long range moves like metor, physic, warp. Ignore priest class line and go down mage, building faith along the way. Fiendish blow is too good and 2x certain spells are game breaking.
Flying classes - can't really go wrong.
I would also like to add linheart:bishop
Bishop is the only way male healers can get double the magic
And hilda:can be anything you want(jack of all trades but master of none)
can pretty much do anything and be one of your best units and can fill any role
Need an offensive threat
Wyvern lord or warrior
Need a magic nuke

Only 2 other units in the game get bolting one is gotten in chapter 11 and the other is dlc only

Did i also mention tied for the best charm growth rate outside of the lords and protag and great everything else so she’ll easily win the white heron cup and can become an amazing dancer

Fam idk how you don’t put assassin Petra there..... she is a one woman army and can reach base stats like 120% avo chance and like 70% base Crit. I literally wrapped her with lindhart to the middle of like 7 enemies and she killed them all with one hit while dodging everything. Honestly her speed and dexterity growths alone make her the best unit in the game in my opinion by a mile from the others
Ingrid too, she'll double practically anything and is a terror to mages.
I got lorenz for the blue lion house just had to get to the right part in the story and have him in my house before the time skip also make sure no one else kills him

Anyways I would honestly add Petra due to her amazing base speed, allowing her not to get doubled by the early game bandits and being a helpful boss kill. (PS 60% Speed growth is amazing)
Like I wouldn't add Rephael as he struggles really hard in the early game. Like if you what a good brawler pick Caspar who has 5% less strength growth then Rephael but has a much better speed growth alongside a better personal skill or if you are in Blue Lions go with Dedue who actually has better growth spread...although not that much.
As for Ashe...I can understand but...Bernadetta exists who not only has the nearly the same growths as Ashe but has a better personal skill (like wtf 5 free damage?) and she has adept thanks to the crest of Indech. So she has better offensive power then Ashe by a long shot. Like Ashe personal skill is surprising not that useful as chest keys exist and well they are everywhere, I mean heck you can even buy them which lowers Ashe usefulness.
@Kainos Teleos Ashe and Bernadetta both have the same Strength, Speed and Dex growth. So yea you got RNG screwed.
Like Bernadetta is better than Ashe objective due to her crest giving her adept basically and her personal skill is good too.
As for Petra she really good in the early game and I think she will be good on the harder difficulties as her base speed prevents her from getting doubled early on...unless they pull out the Shadow Dragon Hard 5 and make enemies so dam hard to kill.
My Bernadetta always gets strength bless. She's always nearly as strong as my Byleth.

Felix best sword user.. idk bro.. Petra is insane as an assassin, you can get extremely high avoid as Petra with assassin stealth + the 20 sword avoid from dancer, you don’t even have to reclass into dancer to use the avoid , she can have around like 70+ avoid just on the average location, if in forestry she’s untouchable, and she’s powerful, she was wonderful dex and speed growth, she can double anything honestly and also can do well with bows
Dancer Ferdinand in assasin is probably the best non dedue tank as well. The sword avo from dancer and his unique skill and stealth makes him pretty untouchable. I’m in hard with him without the dancer skill and they have about 20 percent hit change if he is full. You can get vantage from myrmiddon on the way as well if he ever takes a hit
I made a great knight ferdinand. Stupid thing takes near zero damage his personal skill never mattered. also crits like crazy. I dunno why.
Fluffy Emperor I think 100% avo tank is better. But knight lets you get great knight I guess

Yeah...Don’t make lysithea, into a warlock then a dark knight. Make her into bishop then Gremory. Bishops have better stat growths than warlocks. Not to mention the off healing she gets from it. Warlock abilities are useless on her because most of the spells she uses are DARK magic not black magic. Bishop abilities actually benefit her and the party by giving them another healing option and taking the load off the main healer. You’ll have to level up your faith skills anyway if you want her to be a gremory, which further bolsters her dark and healing abilities far more than a dark knight would
Good stuffs, but I do believe Leonie or even Bernie (if you dont get rng'd on her stat growth, which unfortunately tend to happen if you dont plan her classes while levelling) is a better bow knight than Ashe, and for some reason on 2 of my playthrough my warmaster caspar is way , way more stronger than Raphael's warmaster.

Never have i seen Ashe and Lysithea on the same list of good units. The comparison is night and day performance wise

I was disappointed in ashe and ended switching him out for shamir. I was also disappointed in raphaels many misses during fights so i gave him the boot. Felix is indeed 1 of the best. Lysithea is a powerhouse. Annete is a great gremory especially with black magic range +1. Marianne ended up as my dancer so i can't judge her holy knight skills. Mercedes is a very handy healer and always welcome in any team.
I was surprised by ingrids falcon route, she ended up as a double hitter with frequent crit hits with killer lance+ I have done the same with leonie and she's a good critter aswell. I would prefer these 2 over ashe and raphael. Petra as mentioned in the comments looks like a very promising character aswell. Also Catherine is a very solid character who delivers, I really liked her. Lorenz and sylvain despite owning dark seal skills are sadly no double hitters nor critters. But i guess their skills will come in handy on higher difficulties. Looks like Cyril has the aptitude skill, I don't know if he's good now, but I'll never forget the villager of fe awakening. He was an absolute beast midgame past. My 2 cents

Because Ashe leaves you in part 2 until much later if you are not in Blue Lions, he is NOT a good character to pick.
After all, you will lose him for a significant portion of the game.

4th route is special, but in Golden Eagle route and Edelgard route he leaves you and you must recruit him in battle later on.
I made all BL mages (Anette and Mercedes, because I couldn't recruit other. Manuela was barely trained until she got Warp) into Gremory, because double uses.on faith and on reason magics. I will be damned if 4 uses Fortify isn't great
Just a heads up. Felix can work in other classes. Also, you didn't mention the personal skills. e.g. Lysithea double weapon exp. Also, Felix's lone wolf. Ashe being an wyvern due to his lockpick making chests easier to get to without making anyone a thief, spending gold on keys, and gives his lacking strength a buff. Also, Lysithea works better as a Gremory for that Warp x2. Preference, though
Did you do any research I mean your first pick is ash easily the worst Archer in the game as Claude deals much more damage, ignatz starts of with plus 20 accuracy which is a so good and Bernadetta just deals more damage with her personal ability and great combat arts.
Honestly I agree with most of your choices and descriptions, with the exception of Ashe. He does have great growths, but his ability is not that unique considering an assassin class can have it. Bernadetta while having similar stats (as well as combat arts) has an overall better ability especially on harder difficulties. I also think you could have incorporated exclusive combat arts more in this video as well as exclusive magics. For example, while making Lysithea a DK works great especially for movement. As a Gremory with her light magic she gains warp and double uses of it which could be a huge help to your team especially on larger maps.
Agreed with your take on exclusive arts. Basing your team on growths is too small of a focus when growths are the least important part of a character.
Fun fact growths are actually one of the most important things to consider they are literally used by veteran players of fire emblem to figure out which characters to use
Espeon 37 growths are of course important, but unique arts/abilities, base stats, + weapon ranks are more important imo. Growths arent reliable + a character's role can change based on their RNG level ups. Choosing characters based on growths alone is a small piece of the puzzle. I know this from beating 7 of the Fire Emblem games so I'm a veteran of the series too

I disagree with not making felix a master class as the ability to use magic from mortal savant is far better than the slightly better growth modifiers of SM and astra is just awful so theres not really a reason to get it. I also think you forgot to mention a couple things about lysethia and what makes her so good, the thyrsus staff grants her incredible range and as an accessory relic it takes no hp. It also gives a chance to half any damage she takes which is nice. She has 4 weak stats although 2 of them are negligible as luck is the least useful stat and str doesnt matter so long as you dont make her a physical class which is just kinda dumb in the first place. Hp and def while slightly better in the dk class are mostly a non issue if you use her right, attacking from ranges where the foes cant counter and covering her up from attacks on EP. she also gets warp at B which makes the game significantly easier on easy and hard and still very useful on maddening although warp skipping maps there is less useful. Personally i think Dark Knight and Gremory are about equal in terms of options for her as DK while it does give more def and hp more importantly gives her higher mov and canto which when paired with the relic staff just leads to a character that can one round enemies that are 10+ spaces away and retreat to safety without worry. Meanwhile Gremory has the bonus of doubling all spell uses which enables for more uses of 2 spells in particular, warp and dark spikes. Dark spikes is one of her most useful tools as it helps killing any threatening cav at nearly any point in the game if you dont let her fall behind too much (most notably the death knight) and warp which ive already discussed the uses of. 2 uses on warp is incredibly powerful and when paired with stride and a dancer enables for quick effective ways to tackle hard maps
Similarly I personally think Raphael is one of the worse units due to his abysmal speed meaning he is not able to tank effectively unless he is an armor knight which then means he is locked to low mov for the majority of the game untill he hits GK ( if you dont drop him because hes falling behind your other units by then) and even then lacks in res so he dies to any magic units on the field, doesnt have any crest and his personal skill is ass. You also neglect to mention annettes amazing quad rally that lets her be the ultimate rally bot, meaning Dark knight is actually probably her optimal class. A number of other units are more suited to be in this list over raph like leonie linhardt ferdinand ingrid and Bernadetta

In my blue lions playthrough I had 3 characters left (Byleth Felix and Hilda) it would have been a wipeout if not for a 6% crit hitting to kill final boss (no spoiling) so I use her in pretty much every playthrough were she usually carries the team a lot so that's my favourite unit
I was kinda confused about your lysithea recommendation. Her defense is naturally low, so why even bother fixing it? Especially since you picked dark knight which is a hit and run, not that she will do much running when she 1HKO every non boss unit in the game
She's actually not too bad at being something of a dodge-tank. At least in my experience, on those rare occasions I let an enemy slip through to attack her, she'd just dodge and then one-shot them with a magic counterattack.
You COULD bust your ass to make her a DK. Or you could just grab Thyrsus, make her a gremory and tear shit up with significantly less investment.
Leonie is a solid paladin and Hilda is a pretty good wyvern lord (Blue Lions and Golden Deer only).
