Hello! We live in Japan with two Asian Small-Clawed Otters.
Kotaro: Male, DOB 11/10/2017
Kotaro has a scar on his tail from being bitten by another otter when he was still a baby.
Hana: Female, DOB 11/24/2018

My grandfather was a professor at the Academy of Music and a great collector of gramophones, gramophone records from which came the wonderful sounds of music by world-famous artists! We, his grandchildren, would regularly on Sundays, after the family lunch, go with his adults to his room for "rest" and "enjoyment" and secretly watch the adults enjoy the unreal magic of music and sounds coming from gramophone records that invigorate the soul and they rejoice the heart, as they used to say. I, like our adorable angels, watched it all in wonder and wondered, "why does such music create a feeling of indescribable comfort in them" ?! Over time, I also fell in love with classical music and now I fully understand them (that enthusiasm, calmness and feeling of complete bliss while listening to music that feeds the soul with beauty). Thank you, our dear ones, for bringing me back to the past through this wonderful video of classical music, reminding me of my wonderful childhood and my grandfather and his great love - classical music! With this wonderful video, you evoked dear memories in me!🎶🎵💕💗🐾💖😇💙😇🐾💗💕🎵🎶🙌🙇🙏💝

@@katalinasztalos8489 As I write this comment, enchanting music is coming from the background .....Yes, my dear Kati♥, the great Mr. Tchaikovsky - takes your breath away with his wonderful achievement, nourishes the soul - the whole being with some inexplicable, unreal, infinite beauty. I was especially impressed by the first notes which are so magnificent, glorious! I inherited a great love for classical music, and otherwise, for every kind of good music, from my grandfather. Unfortunately, my good grandfather is no more, but in addition to so many good deeds and things he left behind for pride, one of my favorites is a huge collection of gramophone records, many of which are unique and not available on the market. In my case, music really heals the soul, as well as good, healthy laughter! So, my dear Kati♥, enjoy good music and laugh as much as you can! Laughter is the best medicine for everyone, for the soul, and it is completely free !, isn't it! When I adopted my dog, I played some stuff from Nobuo Uematsu based on mid-1800s romantic era music.
Since then, he's become a snob. :) He really enjoys Debussey, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and others. He loves when I play Claire De Lune. He also snorts at me when I get the notes wrong.

At my school when we were little and still took naps, our teacher would play classical music during nap time. She’d explain the piece of music she was about to play and tell us what the composer was trying to convey. Mozart was a definite favorite. The otters need to hear Eine Kleine Nachtmusik!

Hana seems a lot calmer. Prof Kotaro tries to figure out where the sounds are coming from. Might i suggest Brahms. His lullaby music has a calming effect

Kotaro and Hana seem to like this music, they stand up and open their mouths as if they want to go along with the music. It also seems to trigger something emotionally when I watch the eyes of the two. This is wonderful to watch :-) Especially Kotaro`s reaction to Beethoven was hilarious :-)

Die Reaktion von Tieren auf klassische Musik ist mir bekannt, mein Katerchen besteht jeden Abend auf sein Konzert incl. Fussmassage und das diese intelligenten, liebenswerten Otterlinge diese großartige Musik mögen, war mir auch klar. Habt ihr gesehen wie Kotaro seine Schnurr - und Augenbrauenhaare wie Antennen spreizt. So süß ich könnt ihn fressen 😍

Meine Familie und ich waren und sind immer von Tieren umgeben gewesen.Kleintiere wie Kaninchen,Hamster,Meerschweinchen u.a. und größeren Tieren wie 2 Katzen und 3 Hunde. Tiere sind auch Menschen, sie haben nur eine andere Form. Die Otter sind so süß und intelligent! Schade,dass sie in Europa keine Haustiere sein dürfen.Aber gut,dafür haben wir mehr Hunde und Katzen,auch so liebe und schöne Tiere.Komischerweise wachsen einem die kleinen Otter schon vom Zusehen so ans Herz,dass ich mich nur wundern kann.Was ist der Grund,das Kindchenschema,die Knuddeligkeit,die Intelligenz?
Ja,warum sollen unsere Tiere nicht auf Musik reagieren, sie hören sie ja wie wir,nur wissen sie erstmal nicht,was das ist.Es gäbe aber noch bessere Musik als diese,denke ich,Vivaldi vielleicht, etwas Langsameres. Das Herrchen bittet ja um Vorschläge!

🤣🤣🤣 Kotaro's "fireworks whiskers" kill me - every time! He truly has the most unique faces of any otter. Even Hana's whiskers seem to be in exploration mode this morning!
I love how Kotaro is always so sensitive & alert to strange new things. Head on a swivel, eyes peeled, aggressive whiskers, standing up now & then to get a better view of what's going on. On the other end of the spectrum, Hana just casually strolls about or plops down in the general area of the action, mindlessly wandering & wondering what's going on, but not too much. A rollover and a belly rub from Dad would certainly squash any interest that she might have in Kotaro's quest for knowledge. 😄

Actually, no. Hana has her things about which she is curious, she just expresses them differently than Kotaro. Watch the section where she is reacting to the Elgar - she's really listening. She's also just more physically affectionate than Kotaro.

クラシック音楽を好きになったきっかけは、音楽の授業で聴いたムソルグスキーの「展覧会の絵」です(40年以上前😅)…どうでしょうか。
I think they'll enjoy Claude Debussy "Clair de Lune". Maybe having them watch Swan Lake or Giselle ballet. After this, your kids will be well rounded (French lessons won't hurt eirher)..my dog was bilingual❤❤🙂🙂🦦🦦🥰 you can 86 French😆😆😆

Try them on Johan Strauss, especially The Blue Danube. Who knows, they may even learn to waltz 🤭. Here's a thought, take the gramaphone outside when they're in the pool. You could edit the clip so they're swimming in time to the music.

It depends on which piece of Mozart, I suppose. Many parts of 'Don Giovanni' are dramatic and scary. But there are beautiful balads in 'The marriage of Figaro'.
And I wonder if the otters are more sensible in front of a violin or a piano. I vote for the violin (like their own voices ?). So I would choose concertos for the violin, or maybe the flute :)

My cat loves classical music, especially great voices like Pavarotti or Diana Damrau. He really melts away with classical singing 🎶
I used to work in a bookstore with a cat and he used to love instrumentals by Polish composers. I have no idea how he knew where they were from, but he always sat right by the radio and purred. (I unfortunately can't remember who his favourite was as this was about 10 yrs ago)
Out of my at-home cats, one used to love arabic dance music.
I haven't noticed a music preference with the other, but she does have a tv show preference. (DS9, specifically any episode with Sisko as the main character)
@@bryonyperecat5954 😂DS9, wow that's funny. My cat loves to watch, anything on TV, with animals, especially birds! I used to own another cat, and she was totally in love with the voice of Engelbert Humperdink (not my choice!). My cat actually loves to hear Schubert's Ave Maria, but only in german language. It's funny, but he insist that he gets a massage of his feet, while hearing this wonderful music. All of my cats preferred a calm and slow music, never heavy metal 😱😁
@@romanknetsch1035 Oddly enough, neither of the at-home cats care about birds, etc on tv. Occasionally out the window or when they're outside (supervised), but the cat I have now is mostly concerned with the cat living downstairs and the various squirrels.
It's odd the voices they like. We're pretty sure the scifi cat likes it because we'll play Mass Effect or watch DS9 for hours.
The preference for German-only is neat. Is there any other music like that she likes? (And I love the massage part of that too. Actually, also kind of jealous of the cat. He sounds very happily spoiled.)
@@bryonyperecat5954 Hi, the name of our cat is Pascha, and that's exactly the way he behave. Sometimes it seems to me, that's not OUR cat, instead we are HIS humans. Almost every day he's teaching us new tricks, so we never get bored 😂. Yes, he really likes classic music, but he isn't puristic at all. Recently he discovered some kind of black music, especially Billie Holiday or Salomon Burke. He really likes it, especially in combination with belly rubbing 😁. Yes, I have to admit, that he is really spoiled, my fault🙄. But he really deserves it, he gives so much love and entertainment. We are very lucky that he chooses us, to be his new humans.

I'm actually an audiophile, it is a hobby of mine 😄 so for me, it's a nice combo, the pairing up of these adorable otters that I enjoy every video, with some nice classical music, which yes is a genre I like. It is interesting too watch their curiosity and mostly enjoyment of it, and namely, their reaction to it 😊.
