When they peeked out from under the furniture, I said, "Oh, poor babies!" out loud. You can see how upset they were. 😥 Still, they're so smart to know how to protect themselves. ❤️
Actually the under the futon/bed was a very dangerous place to take cover from an earthquake, don't hide under things that can compress, always look for either a frame in a structural wall, a safe zone or at least a structure that's taller than you and can take the hit of a collapsing ceiling. The stairs were a somewhat better place to take cover if you are the size of Hana.
There have never two more loved otters than Kotaro and Hana. They are so expressive and intelligent and you can see how well cared for they are. Very impressive.
It was so touching to see Kotaro and Hana hiding under the sofa with frightened expressions on their faces. I feel sorry for everyone who is exposed to such things. I'm glad that Kotaro, Hana, mom and dad are doing well. And I wish you lots of strength and all the other people there too. Give Kotaro and Hana lots of hugs and salmon

I live in Michigan so we don't exactly get that kind of thing here.. Kotaro was seriously upset about that countertop, and it showed! I agree. I live in Louisiana and do not experience earthquakes either. We get hurricanes. Indeed, very happy to hear that all of you are okay. When the camera began to shake, it looked scary. Hana laying on the stairs made me realize how much all of us, including animals, are very sensitive. They feel what we feel.
California here. 4 isn't bad, so they will settle down and forget after a while. But, yeah, the shaking and rumbling are pretty scary for pets, tourists, and people who move to California from elsewhere. haha

Earthquakes are scary, man! The only one I’ve experienced (that I can remember) was way back during my elementary days. Was home alone and attempting to make Kool-Aid (didn’t go so well). All a sudden, everything on the walls starts shaking! Now, it wasn’t a HUGE earthquake, but still kinda freaky, especially being a young kid home alone. Funny enough, my dad was apparently waiting for a train to go by when the earthquake happened, so he didn’t even realize there’d been an earthquake until he heard others talking about it. He just thought the shaking was from the train! He did say he thought the shaking was unusually strong to come from being near a train…
I've never experienced an earthquake but I have seen what the effect of a big one can do. I went on a school trip to Iceland and one of the towns we visited was hit with a magnitude 6 (from memory) earthquake in 2008. One of the Fischer's was in the middle of the shopping mall and instead of patching up the floor with new flooring to make it look like nothing happened, they put glass in the spaces between the floor so you could stand on top and see down into the Fischer. It's Insane how powerful earthquakes are and it makes you realise how gigantic something like that earthquake in Japan in 2011 was. Hopefully my ramblings are mildly interesting 😃

I just love it so much every single time Kotaro casually appears eating in his peculiar manner. I know! I don’t why I’m always so surprised when animals demonstrate how smart they are. I was absolutely tickled by that part and kept thinking how smart and clever he was to try and fine a better spot to see up on the counter.

I just love it so much every single time Kotaro casually appears eating in his peculiar manner.
It just gives a sense of how everything was going off as usual in that particular point in the video narrative, as if anchoring the story to our known reality lol. It's more than a meme at this point, it's a storytelling resource.

It's very interesting how Kotaro went half way up the staircase to get a better vantage point looking for the monster who knocked something to the floor behind him. Pretty sophisticated stuff for a cute, fuzzy pet. 😉
I know! I don’t why I’m always so surprised when animals demonstrate how smart they are. I was absolutely tickled by that part and kept thinking how smart and clever he was to try and fine a better spot to see up on the counter.

@@anewname2947 in nature they will dive to catch rocks and they will swim on their backs with the rocks on their belly so they can smash oysters and other shells on the rock its really cool to watch.
