    Personally, the BAC 1-11s were the noisiest aircraft I've ever encountered taking off. Extremely deafening.
    I think the loudest commercial aircraft in operation today is another twin-engine plane, the MD-82 and MD-83. But their noise doesn't compare to the 1-11 noise. It just doesn't. BAC 1-11s were at least 3X noisier than MD-82s.
