- Ryanair 1-11 is a ‘real time’ unedited flight deck video, filmed in 1992, of an actual passenger flight in a BAC 1-11-500 from London Stansted to Dublin . This cockpit video follows the flight in every detail from before engine start to after engine shutdown, including pilot conversations and with Air Traffic Control.
Filmed in 1992 by MCM Productions/JumpSeat Productions. - Розваги
The BAC 1-11. A truly wonderful aircraft. After over a hundred flights as passenger over Philippine skies, it never failed to provide a satisfying experience. It was eventually replaced by the 737s and A320s but to me, it remains as the icon in short-haul aviation.
Pure gold! Decent rate of around 4,200ft a minute! There’s something reassuring about old analogue dials.
I have seen zillions of cockpit videos but I only recently discovered these gems. What a treat to see some real flying from a bygone era before glass, FMS and auto-throttle!
Felt the same thing . A Fokker F27 using VOR’s & DME’s to navigate . I had almost forgotten DME’s.
Awesome video and memories. I worked for Servisair Stansted in the early 90’s. Remember the Romanian Ryanair pilots who were such characters. Full lung of cigarette smoke when getting the fuel figures on arrival in the cockpit. I think they came from Tarom with the Rombac 1-11s.? Happy Days
Love it! I went on a BWA BAC 1-11 in 1998, since then my favourite a/c. I was so lucky to get a chance to fly in one. Proper flying ;-)
One of the best cockpit videos ever... just wish this was HD, i know i know it's from 1992...
This was a great vid thanks so much for posting. Captain's R/T was dire but great vid.
Great video. Thanks for posting this. There are a lot of great cockpit videos out there, but this is probably the best one I've seen, start to finish including comms. Thanks so much for posting this! I took great interest in watching the flight instruments as well... Awesome!
What a top video. Thank you.
Amazing! This is real flying! Navigation via an analog HSI, none of this EHSI and ECAM rubbish.
Great Video!
I was really surprised when at the end I've realized that the First Officer, 15 years later, flew with me as instructor on Boeing 737.
What a beautiful video. Gold one!
Now This is real instrument flying! No autopilot on that SID, radar vectors, and approach
Very nice shots. Thank you very much for posting and sharing.
In 2001 I flew in Egypt with a ROM-BAC on a local flight. I got some video recordings out of the window. I can still remember them very well and am now happy to see the whole thing from a different perspective.
Really Golden video, thanks
58:05 Wow, that thing can be dropped! If you intercepted the GS on a 737 doing 300 KIAS and tried to slow down using speedbrake, you’d be waiting all day!
The voice of the London Controller is so familiar from my current day job. He’s still on Essex and Luton today.
Superb,thanks
What a tribute to a wonderful airplane
Can anyone confirm that the 1-11 had fold-out stairs in the tail and rear-facing seats over the wings (emergency exit)?
I'm trying to identify the aircraft that I flew on with my late cousin on Friday 17th June 1988. The carrier was Dan Air and we flew from Manchester to Ibiza.
PA on the RWY from the captain during lineup after receiving T/O-clearance. Good old times!
Flew on my first 1-11 back on the 3rd Sept 76. Dan Air Gatwick to Gerona and we had a lady pilot.
Looks an ok plane actually, I wonder why it was discontinued?
Man, they were hauling arse at approach. They started deploying flaps way above 200kts, and came below 200kts really close in to landing. I did not know that was allowed. Very interesting video, many thanks for posting.
But also note they joined a real long final.. but yeah jets of this era were much more maneuverable, more reserve power. Also, not as strict approach stability criteria at the time.
@@ilarikousa1500 Yes, and the 1.8 second spool up time on the Rolls Royce Spey engines permitted idle power approaches and landings, unlike others that had to maintain power on approach, to be prepared for a go around. (Overshoot to the Brits) I had 9,000 hours in the 1-11/200, about half in each seat, between 1968 and 1982. The video was very familiar.
Vince Sbardella That’s awesome! I’d love to have a chat with you!
Pax PA during line up, Love it! XD
great aircraft the bac 1 -11
It's awesome to see that many procedures ryanair applies today on 737
Same thoughts! Pretty amazing, huh? Is it just me thinking flying seemed to actualy be much easier back then in the 90s???
Such as?
Great video mate, very informative on the early days of Ryanair and the experience of what it was like to fly a bac 111. Would I be able to use this footage with full credit and a link to your channel in a video I am making about the bac 111 aircraft. Thanks - shaun
Ryanair began with 2 or 3 of these aircraft I seem to remember ,I flew to Dublin with them around 1989 I think , I seem to remember they only flew from Luton at the time.
They started with an Embraer EMB-110 Bandeirante. They alter acquired some Aerospztiale ATR42s and BAC 1-11 500s - some of them Romanian built.
Old autopilot is only for assisting, not taking over full control - nice!
Anyone know what the background “whopping” noise is on the radio transmissions with London is? Not the VORs.
Any one interested in fsx Rick Piper did a freeware version of the BAC 1-11 that is very like the real thing
Filmed on 30/06/92
The first officer seems to be bored! Although it’s a good video!
Probably just tired, probably flying alot
50:00 no coffee - no workee :)
1:06:24 yes they did that, quite amazing!
Seems like they've always been a cheap company he, even at 1992 fuel prices...
That's the point why Ryanair still exists and is so successful.
hello ,someone can tell me what the first officer said to the captain at 16:43 ?
"Climb power"
thank you
How come the climb is so slow?
i know it's fast once speed is built up but it's climb rate is rather slow.
hello ,someone can tell me what the first officer said to the captain at 16:43 ?
lotfaius He said ‘climb power’. In other words, reduce thrust from takeoff to climb.
noisy old beasts.
