Volvo was the creator of the 2 part seatbelt we have today . And they were so kind not to patent it so every car brand can get safer seatbelts so nice of them
I can agree, we have a 2021 or 2020 (idk) Xc90 and yeah the city safety is a lifesaver when you least expect it. We were backing out of a parking lot when some twat was flying down the parking lot road and almost hit us. But our car did the chime stepped on the breaks and tightened the seatbelts, thank god no accident happened though. Also the rest of my family has Volvos like my aunts and uncles older cousins and grandparents. My grandma had her Xc70 which she got into a high speed role over in down a 100 foot ravine and walked away. Volvo for life
They should test the collision mitigation: uncover all the safety avoidance sensors and raise the speed so the crash is unavoidable. Would be awesome to see what it could do
Now i see why Volvo is expensive than other cars, thanks ncap for make those safety test. But we can't forget the safe driving too to get safer roads for all of us, drivers, paxs and pedestrians.
why aren't tests done at 80-100km/h? 50km/h is residential speeds for most places in canada (besides 40km/h in school zones) but don't most crashes often happen at higher speeds than 50? (i.e. bigger roads where the chances are higher)
victorfilm bullshit. there are situations that is impossible to break and impact occurs at 100 kmh. They dont do tests like that because it is impossible to survive.
because the barriers are rigid and immovable. It's a way of mathematically accounting for higher speeds without using a movable barrier, because the immovable barrier takes away so many variables.
@@N54- Not sure about EU spec cars, but in the U.S. BW is a stand-alone option. I believe each trim comes standard with the safety kit (but not adaptive CC) in 2017 models. If a front (and more uniform) collision at 50km/h can result in total loss, there's no point in making the front of the car so hard. This Volvo looks like a brick. They can let it absorb more shock instead of making the passengers suffer such a deceleration.
It might just be mine, but, the Pilot assist and lane keeping aid scares me, I was driving down the highway, and being on both, not having had the car for very long, I put my trust in the features and let my mind veer off, only to return to the sight of a low visibility road marker almost at the tip of my car, I steered off and was fine, but, the car entirely ignored a solid white line, and kept going way past it.
