  • custom rebuild, like no other DTR!! best on youtube! and the road! I spent about £6000 in the end inc the bike, which is mad i know... but i enjoy what i do & dont do things to make profit. This was done in stages and took 2 or 3 years in total just due to money, i brought the bike at 18 years old im not rich i just worked my ass off and spent the money i had spare at the end of the month. Most parts were brought from ebay and just by research on the web. The bike has now been SOLD so i hope the new owners appreciate what work went into my baby! This was the first ever time i have done mechanics and i learned so much. Great beginner bike to start on!
    I built this badass out of five types of bikes. Yamaha DT R, YZ 250, WR 125, KTM & SUZUKI RM. Plus universal upgrades.

      Hands down one of the best builds I've seen on any bike, let alone a DT. I'm starting mine now, want to just get it done but this makes me want to really put all my time into it.

    mint job you did .I couldn't of let it go after putting that much time into it,im in my 40s and I used to ride the old lc in my teens and then the dtr .I regret selling some of the bikes I worked on way back I should of stuck at least one dt in the garage .they too much fun and a great little two stroke.so I just bought a 1995 dtr standard and I'm stripping for powder coating .you have inspired me and given me some great ideas ...cheers

    • @s4rg380
      @s4rg380 5 років тому

      Same reason they made VW golf MK1 for 25 years, reliability, Murphy's Law states that if it is less complex, less can go wrong, because everything that can go wrong, will go wrong, I believe here in South Africa you can buy 2018 DT 125 in an air-cooled trim, the LC was notorious for cracking heads, atleast in our climate, air-cooled has a higher temperature tolerance before seizing.

    Man i want to hear your advice....so i have a 2003 Honda CR 125 Motard(rare bike made and sold only in italy, i live in slovenia and probably have the only one in the country)....and suposably these bikes were made original from the factory without speedometers, and i am thinking about the TrailTech Vapor, but it isnt cheap. And my bike hasnt got a battery, so all the electric power comes from the stator, how should i do it?
    What do you suggest?
    Is it worth it?

    • @marcus2474
      @marcus2474  6 років тому

      Blaž Benčič hi mate, its been so long now since i sold my bike, but im pretty sure the trail tech vapor also comes with a internal battery so it still works without power from your bike. The only other option that i can think of is for either you or a qualified motor electrician to make a wiring loom to get power from the stator to charge a 12v battery then run it from that. You can then run headlights etc from the stator too

    • @marcus2474
      @marcus2474  8 років тому

      +Roberto Hermann no worries. you can buy the extra dashboard (high beam, indicators etc) once again thats universal. so you will need to go through all your individual wires and wire it up. a user manual will tell you the wire colours. to be honest, its not to hard if you have a little know how. this project was my first ever. i had no mechanical or wiring skills.. i just learned as i went :)

    • @marcus2474

      +V Köhler i cant remember to be honest 220 main jet maybe, it all depends on a number of things, like what mix your running, exhaust system, reeds, air flow/filter etc. your best to just dyno it. ifnot gently increase jet size with trial and error untill you find that sweet spot.

      the engine case was a dark grey with blue bolts. i had the case powder coated. you can also powder coat the flywheel case/chain guard if you have the metal one.

      @Raze675 6 років тому

      I am a bit Late but this is a older model DT R that was made between 88 and 03 and then came the eletric start versions DTRE and DTX. If you have the DTX you have the newer model that has different plastics and other things.
