      I’m trying to grow on in Melbourne. I just brought it inside for the rest of winter.

    Your plant looks super good compared to mine. I have both the types you showed plus Ch.aurea.
    They are gorgeous when in bloom and smell delightful.

    My chysis has 14 old bulbs, 5 new growths, 6 spikes and some spikes have 9-10 buds/flowers. I grow mine in west facing window. I grow it in full moss with the pot and media sitting in water 24/7 so the moss is wet all the time. During winter months, I may let the bottom reservoir dry out before adding water but during growing season the plant sits in water ALL THE TIME. Your bulbs are small is because you’re not watering it enough. It spikes very shortly after it have the new growth. Also, I put slow release fertilizer in the moss. Without fertilizing it doesn’t bloom.

    I have one but rootless. Gave to me as a freebie. They said it’s alive but how it can survive without roots?

    i think Chysis are easy. I have bloomed a couple of them. I'd say less water in winter after growths mature, but higher light and copious water in summer when growing as soon as foliage starts to grow. They are known as a greedy drinker..Thanks for sharing. new subscriber

    Hi Jess, how did you with your Chysis? I have a very young seedling with 3 tiny pseudobaubs sitting there for almost a year, it now starts to have a new shoot coming out (early Summer in Australia) but growing so very slow. Is this normal? Should I start fertilising it? There isn’t much info available as how to look after young Chysis seedlings. Thanks

      If a new shoot is coming out, then it would do well with regular waterings and you can add fertilizer gradually as the shoot continues growing. Once the roots get established, it should take up more water and increase in growth steadily. Gradually increase light or warm temps can help with the speed of growth as well. Mine is still a larger seedling and still needs more time before it’s blooming size. The average size of the bulb for a mature blooming size plant is about 6 inches. Good luck! 🍀🪴

    Very nice. I just got two chysis plants about a month ago, they are inside my tank and seem to like it. I am wondering if I need to take them out of tank for winter or just leave them be there in warm and humid conditions. What do you think?

    • @AttainableGreen
      @AttainableGreen  4 роки тому

      I am not sure. When the temps are warmer, they seem less likely to drop all their leaves. As for blooming, I think the health and size of the pseudobulbs dictate how readily it blooms. So they could be fine either way
