    What a great tutorial Helen. Thank you so much for taking the time to video the two of them. Takes a lot of fear out of the whole process. I've laced a few small pieces recently for framing, and they turned out great. I think that pinning and lacing would be the way to go for larger pieces. Not sure how I feel about larger linen pieces. Baby steps! I love all your videos, projects, and finishes. Thanks for sharing! Love all your personal life updates! You are a very busy person!!❤

    Loved seeing the point driver in action. I’ve done my own framing in the past and used the diamond points, trying to force them in with a screwdriver- unsuccessfully I might add, because years later, I’ve found the diamond points on the floor.
    Thank you for explaining everything so thoroughly. Love your videos.

    Good video! Thanks for sharing how you frame. I couple of things I do that helps me, is I put a towel down on my hard work surface to assure I don't scratch up or mar the wood frame while working on the back. I also keep a mini sticky lint roller with my framing tools to gently go over my piece before placing in glass. I am not sure if the professionals would use one, but with pets and lint it helps to make sure nothing extra gets trapped behind the glass. 😊

    Thanks Helen! You always seem to take the mystery out of things for me when it comes to finishing, and make me think I can give doing something like this a go.😊 I've never framed before, but I watched a Jean Farrish flosstube a while ago where she showed how she framed. She pinned using the sequin length stainless steel pins. She noted they didn't require having to be pushed so far into the foam core. She initially only pushed the pin in part way in case she had to remove it to correct centering. But for the final push of the pin to sink the head, she used the back of a spoon to do the job. Her thumb was in the bowl of the spoon to protect her fingertips as she pushed, and if I remember correctly, she may have used the end of the handle of the spoon to push the pinning deeper if necessary. Maybe using a spoon will save your fingertips😂. Thanks again for another great tutorial. Your framing looks great!

    • @helend.flosstube

      It's not all the same. I get my foam core from the framing department at Michaels. It's 1/8th of an inch thick. You need it thick enough to get pins in, but not too thick or it takes up too much space in the frame.

Do you block your piece and if so, how do you do that? • @helend.flosstube
      @helend.flosstube  Рік тому +1

      I don't block my stitching. Because I use hand dyed fabric and flosses a lot of the time I don't wash them when I'm done, and I think you need to wet them in order to block. I give my pieces a good ironing. If something looks a little off sometimes I'll give it a good tug in one direction or another to try and straighten it out.

      I went over some other options in part one of this series, but they were all for wood frames that you can screw into. Depending on how much space you have in your frame you could try a spring clip, they're used on metal frames.
