The design shown at 5:45 was created by an artist by the name of Brickalypse. I was commissioned by someone to recreate it, little did I know about Brickalypse's policies. As of now, I believe the issue to be resolved, as I directed the artist to the person who commissioned the work after he alerted me. So... what did we learn from this? Make sure that the person you're working for has permission for the designs they want you to recreate. Be careful of what you're doing out there!
You don’t need to at all, it’s a design from within mecabricks already. That’s like saying it I recreate a Lego set in mecabricks I have to mention the man who designed it😊
Just so everyone knows, I get the UV maps (or templates) by downloading a part from Mecabricks, and then I export the UV layout in Blender. You can also export the textures by using the Image Editor.
@AugustRenders I'll try that. I'm not familiar with using blender, so I had hopes of an easier way. Would be nice with a tutorial on it. But tnx anyway
Can you tell me where to find a complete minifig template for illustrator? One that covers everything including front, back, left and right view? Thank you!
Wonderfully detailed and useful video, thanks! I wasn’t sure about the colors so this helped, along with the design rules. I want my creations to feel like LEGO.
Hey man, thank you for this awesome video! It's working great with heads, but I'm struggling with the upper body and the legs... If I download a piece from Mecabricks and do the exact same steps as with the head, I only get a bunched up piece of junk out of the UV in blender... Any tips? 😅
Me out here about to break all these rules. No but seriously man this is a great tutorial. I've been seeing so many custom lego builds lately that it makes me want to get back into collecting.

What should I do If I just want to change something on a existing Lego figure, like the dots on imperial officer torsos? How do I put in the existing Lego design ?
Well, I always up-res the maps to 2048 by 2048. The resolution should really depend on the type of project you're doing. In my case, it's 3D animation.
Hi August, great video, thx man!!. Is there a chance to get the "The Complete LEgo Minifigure guide lines". Couldn´t find it but could need it. Thank you very much. Cheerz
also guys dont forget if your making a marvel minifigure almost never use any sort of leg printing!!! if you make a star wars minifig consider giving him a stud shooter after all that and some detail that just feel weird for example two stripes for a camo!!
I use the same UV template to export torso prints into Studio using PartDesigner, but the print always ends up being applied a bit too much to the right. What can I do? Help.
when you make custom torso do you use a template to get the size right, I tried making a custom torso buy layering the prints but can't seem to get the size right for some reason
BTW, I am contacting a fee folks about the specific PAD printing Printers that produce the best results. Because as my research has now shown, LEGO uses PAD printing, but no specific brand, as to meet their assembly needs and timing, they spent millions in developing a multipad (1-10 PAD heads depending on the particular line/part being created) PAD Printer whose PAD head and arms stay in a tight position, but the ink trays are what slides in and out to ink said pads, and then the pads only move down about 3 to 6 inches, and then move back up to wait for the very next part! This is what my research has shown, and why we are never told the specific type of printer or brand, because there isn't a brand, just a print type! Also, PAD printing allows them to print on fully 3D items l I ke the rounded heads or other parts, and PAD printing allows for truly great coloring and even Metallica to be printed without the loss of quality, you cannot get Metallica with a sparkle, nor great color quality with UV Printing at all, at least not for what LEGO needs done! I may not be able to tell you the type of Orinters they use, but the injection mounding machines used on one of their lines is a WITTMAN Battenfeld 65/350 Injection Moulding machine. The special factor about these printers is they use hot runners so that once the part is complete and it drops into the bin, it's ready to use immediately.... No Spree to break off or sand down. They also understand the mounding Lin at the bottom of each Brock so that's why you never see those on LEGO blocks like you do with Chinese made bricks or other off brand bricks! I am coming to learn all the little intricacies about LEGIS on an almost internal level with the people that I am speaking with, It's crazy!
You see... What happened was... I was being commissioned to do custom texture work for someone, and they asked me to recreate some of Brickalypse's designs. This situation caught Brickalypse's attention, so I explained what happened, and directed him to the person who gave me the assignments. I meant no harm at all.
@@justyourtypicalguy6565 I load the piece into Mecabricks, and then I go under File > Export, and then select .zmbx as the format. Using the Mecabricks Advanced plugin, I load the downloaded piece into Blender. In Edit Mode, I select all of the faces, and then I take a UV snapshot in the UV editor.

And once I'm done with my design how do I then have my physical copy of it on my Minifigure? Do you have a video on this?
This Video Was Very Helpful....THanks
ik this is a year later, but do you know where to find the classic generic minifigure face? its not on mecabricks anymore
To be fair there are cmf series where the feet shoes are printed
You are so underrated
would have been nice if you would have asked me for permission to use my design as an example.
