Welcome to the world of Beatles collecting, Carlos. I was 15 when I bought my first Beatles record. And I'm still buying them! They'll be with you your entire life. Beatles forever!

Those singles boxes sold by World Records in the 70s are actually quite affordable. You can pick them up for around $100-$150 in nice condition. The nice thing is that some of those 70s pressings used original metal work from the 60s, so they often sound just as good as the originals. I am slightly surprised that Michael doesn't recognize the original green Parlophone sleeves for the UK singles (as seen in the booklet for the new Singles collection). He must not have collected the UK singles and only stuck to the LPs.

Hi Mike, all UK Parlophone singles, with the exception of Love Me Do, the first pressing of Please Please Me, Strawberry Fields Forver (picture sleeve) and Let It Be (picture sleeve), were issued in generic, green paper sleeves. That's why when they were re-issued in the late 1970s the came with generic green card sleeves. For anyone interested, Bruce Spizer has published an excellent reference book on The Beatles Parlophone releases.

Note the lack of any American Capitol picture sleeves in the new box set. The only American picture sleeve represented is the Tollie sleeve for Love Me Do. I suspect they withheld the American Capitol picture sleeves for a US singles collection in the future. Even if they didn't sound as good as their UK counterparts, the nostalgia factor with the Capitol picture sleeves and the swirl labels is a solid 10.

Unfortunately I am not old enough to have had heard the Beatles songs when they were first released, they broke up in 1970 and I was born in 1972-I am already 47 yo and I am not "old enough", sigh-Yet my passion for them developed when listening to the vinyl albums, however I don't have that attachment to vinyl, but seeing your collection I do feel the nostalgia of putting the turntable's arm at the beginning of a record and, after that characteristic "scratch" sound that lasted a few seconds, listening to the wonderful songs coming out off the speakers. Magnificent collection you have there, cheers!

7:06 The stereo version of She's A Woman was released on an 8-LP box set released by World Records in 1981 (not long before the 7" EP box set) called "The Beatles Box", NOT the World Records Beatles Singles Collection. The version on the single is mono.

I noticed, in the book, that Penny Lane is licensed to Sony, but I thought Robert Holmes a Court gave that to his daughter, Catherine, prior to selling to Michael Jackson. Wikipedia says she's the owner "as of 2009..." and I didn't find any other more recent sources. Anyone have any info on this, or is there a misprint in the book?

I love The Beatles specially they’re later material (1965-1970) Revolver, The White Album, Abbey Road.
Keep up the great stuff man!

Mike? I often find myself reading magazines and if course your reviews about how to improve my sound over lets just listen and enjoy what I own.. I've had mainly the same system for over 10yrs (Spectral components, Wilson Watt Puppies 8, Clear Audio table and MIT cables.
Worst part is I don't have a room dedicated for just listening..
How do you find balance in that tight space your system is set up in? And when you have friends over who want to 'listen' to your sound is there a dedicated seat you give them or does your system pass the 'LIAR' test? The thought just came to me when I see how tight your room looks..Does that space lend itself to that very expensive components you own?

I know this video is 2 years old but hey, you may see this message. Is that the The Beatles Box From Liverpool on your shelf just to YOUR DIAGONAL RIGHT UP AND TO OUR DIAGONAL LEFT UP.... BASICALLY ON THE UPPER LEFT SHELF VISIBLE ON THE SCREEN. What do YOU think of that box? From the World Records Mail Order Series. I've heard a lot of others speak on this box but I would genuinely love to hear your opinion on this box, please Michael. It is a great little alternative box set to the BC13 and 2009 Stereo Box. Yes not as complete obviously because it's not a full discography but more of a BEST OF. But I think it's a fine little box that was until recently, almost like a great kept secret in Beatles Collectors Circles. It's still more obscure than those other sets but more well known these days. There's quite a few rarities (ACTUAL rarities compared to the album actually called rarities). I can't believe it has that original Mono promo American Penny Lane in fantastic pristine sound quality and yet Apple and UMG served up that total piece of crap version on the Sgt Peppers deluxe box set. Surely if they don't have the original tape anymore then SURELY TO GOD they would have had a much better version for the Pepper box if they had dubbed it from the Beatles Box From Liverpool, don't you think? And there's just tons of great little things on it, including probably the best runner up version of the original UK Love Me Do and P.S. I Love You single which originally came on the red Parlophone label before it was changed. I do have a nice copy of that red Parlophone label Love Me Do/P.S. I Love You and have compared it to the dubbed version on the From Liverpool box and it's the closest runner up but just doesn't have the bass, clarity or immediate presence of the original but it's definitely better than the 2009 remaster on Past Masters. I'm not rich AT ALL, I'm very poor and it's so nice to own that red Parlophone love me do/p.s. I love you because it's a little piece of Beatles history that can never be repressed because I'm sure I don't need to tell you Michael but for others reading, Parlophone either lost, threw away or wiped and reused those original masters and even the twin track tapes used to mix the master were dealt the same way, so it can never be pressed from an original source EVER again and those initial red label originals are the only originals ever produced and every reissue, remaster, repress after those red labels are pressed using a dub to tape from one of those singles. Needless to say non of those dubbed masters come close to the originals great sound. So yes very satisfying being able to put that 45 on the record player. I'm sorry people who have took the time to read this, I'm just a little passionate and find it amazing that nothing survived from those session tapes, twin track mix downs, master tapes and not even a sub master of the master exists which were actually sent to Canada and America and they looked VERY HARD TO LOCATE ANY of those sub masters they sent out to other countries for those countries to press their own versions. Not even any of the metal work survived from any country If so they would have been able to press copies until those imaginary found metal works became unusable. And maybe if they found any metal work, just maybe they would be able to back engineer a new metal work from the original metal work before it became unusable (I don't know if this is even possible, I'm just getting really into this little thought experiment of finding possible ways of resurrecting a source for the original master to live again). Any who, that's my daily dose of mind workout. Thanks for sticking with it, if you did. Surely with all of today's technology and advancements and brains we can back engineer metal work to press New original master versions of that record. Isn't it possible to make a mould from an original 45 and then make metal work from the mould? Anyone? Anyone who's smarter than me? Probably not. Because they would have done it by now, wouldn't they?.... By the way, original master and session and twin track tapes also do not exist for the She Loves You single. Oh my little brain cannot cope. It would just be easier to build a time machine at this point and go back and give a silly EMI Boss a good talking too and stressing the point to not be so old fashioned fuddy duddy about new music and just because you don't like it,it doesn't mean it's all going to be over soon because nobody else will like it much either, because if you don't like it and think it's just a fad then that's a FACT, so junk the tapes as soon as the master is mixed and transferred to metal for stamping because God Damnit I'm going to save EMI 19 shilling and 11 pence (in Ye Olde English Speak) by reusing the tape by wiping it and recording another track on it. " Oh you fool !!". And also while we're at it how about telling EMI/Parlophone bosses to tell Capitol "screw you, we own you, we are the parent company, not the other way round, so stop fiddling with our track sequencing, adding reverb and definitely definitely stop nicking 3 songs off every album we give you and saving them up, putting them with already released singles to make another album you greedy so and so's. Erm .... Apart from 1967, ok? You can do it in 1967 because we fans like.....I mean we at EMI/Parlophone really like what you have done....... will have done......... are going to do...... We quite like Magical Mystery Tour your way, ok? Right then, Thank you. Goodbye. Craig Warner.

The 1982 pressed "Million Sellers" EP is the source of the best mastered "She Loves You" I have ever heard (It's far more vivid than any of the cds) . . . the entire EP box is mono except for the rarities disc, which DOES NOT have a stereo "This Boy" despite text to the contrary on the sleeve.

Thank you for the review! Although the new boxed set looks pretty cool, prices seem kinda high so I'll pass on it for now. Closer to $150. would have been more appropriate. Plus, I've got 2 other Beatles' singles boxes, one with picture sleeves and one with the green sleeves, both pre-digital, so I don't need this new one. Plus, they were made from the original masters which were a lot newer, so they sound pretty good. Then, I've got all the Capitol colored vinyl singles and many of the original singles, so I feel I've got it covered.

Your Swedish is way better than your Norwegian. Which is weird, cause they both sound the same.

Your funny Michael!!! Great video as always, I to met Lou Costello's daughter at a convention once she was really nice. I wish I had everything you had But, I have no room not even for the 4,500 Lp's I got. I guess you saw the movie Yesterday if so what did you think of it. Thanks from you 2nd biggest fan ( Yep there is always 1 person head of me)

Michael, do you know, maybe you do maybe you don't, but who owns the rights to the Vee Jay "Introducing the Beatles"?
Also, the same question about Tollie Records....(if you know of course)!
    P.S. I love the
    punctuated

Nothing to do with The Beatles but if you can access the BBC there’s a 90 minute history of the Blue Note label showing on BBC 4 tonight at 9.30 UK time.

Hi Mike, I enjoyed your clip. The first set you showed was the crappiest set ever to get released in my opinion. Thanks 4 the clip. Lookin' forward to more cool Beatles stuff.

They let Beatles tape used but Harry Nielsen’s estate doesn’t? That’s precious.

Most are Per Madsen (he retired) but if you go to AnalogPlanet and go to the dropdown menu for "record handling and storage tips" you'll find two current suppliers. They are really great and modular too

😅 Love the humor! To hell with the PC nonsense. People are too soft nowadays and just need lighten up! It's harmless fun, after all. 👍 Anyways, thanks for showing some of your Beatles singles and other goodies. I just got a stellar deal on this new boxset recently, but Apple should definitely do the EP collection next.. I'd buy it in a heartbeat! ✌️

Looks like all the singles are "small hole." Why are they not Big hole? Lots of ppl have jukeboxes, and so, a big hole would be better.

Thanks for showing pre release set.bit expensive but since I’m replacing ones I lost this will be great to have and treasure....I had some of those green 70s re issues you could buy independently from WH Smith’s England ...which was around 1976..also remember original green parlophone sleeves...I kind of still like the varied parlophone covers without the pictures on front...I can’t really Remember owning a 180;gram single .most singles even in the sixties were very thin then and into the 70s..and so on..funny accents by the way...
