    At 13:28 you showed the wiring for Shelly 1 on a garage door. I looked at that and thought, “I have everything in that picture already. I can make this without buying anything.” So I immediately built the circuit- twice since I have two garages. And it all worked. Nice! I should also comment that I’m using the stock factory firmware and home assistant with Shelly for hass integration. It all works great. I needed to set the switch mode to “disconnected” and the auto off to 1 second in the firmware menu. Also the power loss setting to “off” for after power is restored. Then I added an automation for when the state changes of the switch to send a notification to my phone saying the door just opened. This is fun to get these things working.

      hamhumtube sometimes WiFi issues are caused by the router and not the iot device. I know my thermostat was constantly disconnecting from WiFi and I replaced my router with a different brand and it’s worked reliably ever since.

    Just bought my first set of 8 Shelly 1's. The first one I tried to flash didn't work. It's bricked now so I'm going to try and flash it the old fashioned way. However, the next one I did I made sure to update the firmware first by connecting to it through a browser. Once done, I flashed using the OTA method described in your video and the other 7 worked great!!! Thanks!!!

      My Shelly1 is stuck at "The Magic"...
      It did have the latest shelly firmware "20210429-100340/v1.10.4-g3f94cd7".
      it musta be bricked now :(
      Were you able to flash it using old fashion wires?

    • @digiblurDIY
      @digiblurDIY  3 роки тому

      A couple things it does require the ability to reach the URL of the firmware. If not you can always use the manual method of wires. The only time the manual method of wires doesn't work is if you let the magic smoke out of the chip via some physical means.

    • @DanBurgaud
      @DanBurgaud 3 роки тому

      @@digiblurDIY I went and wired flashed it. Device is not bricked. However, I could only flash an old 6.3.0 version. And no matter how I tried to Upgrade Firmware from within Tasmota, I would end up with *Upload buffer miscompare* or another hang.
      I OTA flashed a 2nd Shelly1. Almost same thing. Device rebooted once (on the 2nd minute mark) but nothing followed after 30+ mins. I power cycle the device and it reconnected to my Wifi network. Its web interface displayed files and folders; one of the file is "wifiresetdata". Accessing it via *shellyIP/wifiresetdata* reset the device and it is back at 7:00 "Tasmota connecting". 2nd Shelly1 is running firmware 9.5.0
      Did I not wait long enough? 30mins not long enough for it to OTA flash?

    • @digiblurDIY
      @digiblurDIY  3 роки тому

      Sounds like you have some bad files. If you are flashing via wire then that's full power over the chip. You can flash whatever you want.
      If it is not flashing via OTA then it sounds like you have an internet issue.

  • @OldCurmudgeon3DP

    This is cool. I have a box of Shellys I need to flash. Almost makes it too easy. The header is a bugger to flash using resistor leads.

    Travis the Yellow and red wires on your drawing (the one which goes to the button) have supply coming out from them when triggered. Roller doors normally need a quick short so it means you are putting DC across the contacts. Plus my reed doesn't work.

    • @digiblurDIY

    Thanks for taking the time to make this simple video tutorial! My first Shelly 1 is still on the way and this is likely a dumb question...do I have to power it with 110V to flash or can I use low voltage as well? If so...why did you choose 110? Thanks!

    • @digiblurDIY
      @digiblurDIY  3 роки тому

      I might have said 110 but I guess technically 120v here, but it is whatever mains powered is. You can just low voltage off the pins but at that point you might as well just serial flash it. If you do the DC wiring on the terminals and follow the jumper wiring diagram you can also do the OTA that way. Doesn't matter how you power it as long as you do it.

Fortunately, this device is accessible so I can hear the relays don't even toggle. This Shelly is/was functionally fine too, was working just before the OTA firmware switch to Tasmota. I am someone who doesn’t know anything about electronics or these electrical engineering words you are saying I am searching for someone with a simple step by step video of how can I install this and let my garage door open using my phone but I don’t find anything on UA-cam that helps me

      Which words? I don't think I used an EE stuff as I'm no EE myself.

      Discord might be better. I do step by step even for beginners in mine.

    Thanks for your work, I managed to flash everything except the Bulb lamp, flashed but not working because I was unable to make a correct template. I ask you, is it possible to go back and install the correct firmware on the shellys? Not only the Bulb, but also a couple of Shelly1's I would like to put back with their Signature, but I can't.
    I found in the forum a link to this site where it says that is possibile update OTA
    forum.shellyitalia.it/viewtopic.php?t=3743
    this is the site link con i firmware
    archive.shelly-tools.de/
    then I also found another site that allows you to do it
    www.shelly-support.eu/index.php?shelly-firmware-archive/
    but even here it doesn't work and I always get the same error:
    my browser after paste the long link generate: 192.168.1.5/ota?url=archive.shelly-tools.de/version/v1.9.3/SHBLB-1.zip
    File non trovato (in english "File not found")
    do you have any advice for me?
    Thanks

      I've never gone back myself except on a Shelly1 to test the process and did it via the serial headers

    Think I bricked my Shelly :( Seemed like I got it flashing but no new AP. It's still reachable within my wifi though but when entering the IP I'm no longer getting a webgui. Only index of/. Good thing they're cheap 😂

      Can't brick em via software really. That doesn't let the magic smoke out. Luckily most Shelly devices have exposed pins toe easily fix them.

      @@digiblurDIY Yeah tried all OTA methods I could find. Only getting "Not found". I probably need the pin - usb adapter.

    Wait. This doesn't work. One cannot ask, "Alexa, is the garage door open?". Nor can one command "Alexa, close [or open] the garage door." Serious rethinking needed here from scratch to raise the content of this video above click bait.

    • @digiblurDIY
      @digiblurDIY  3 роки тому

      Works fine here and for many others. Are you holding it right?

      @@digiblurDIY Digiblur, if I missed an Alexa integration demo, particularly the part where Alexa checks the status of the door open/closed hall effect sensor, and especially where Alexa operates the Shelly switch as a momentary SPST with adjustable time delay, the please accept my apology.

      First I think you have my video mistaken with another given the click bait comment as I do not do that mess nor do I do the stupid crying pooping faces with bright ass colors on the videos.
      No Alexa here so you didn't miss it. That's a whole topic in itself for voice assistants and security aspects there with integrations. Definitely a PIN code item there if I ever did it.

      @@digiblurDIY Actually.... I think I agree with you, digiBlur. Re-reading the title, I think you delivered as promised; the mis-interpretation of 'Home Assistant' in the description was mine. The click bait snark was uncalled for. Please accept my apology. I'd be interested in integration with any digital assistant, Alexa or Google, should you wish to tackle that video in the future.
