The transition of Simon on a motorcycle leaving Dracula's castle is pretty nice, including how Dracula appears from out of the ground once he leaves.

That giant skull with the grappling rings is the most anxiety-inducing boss ever.
24:25 - "Castle Gradius" lol. It's a missed opportunity to not have Intruder as a boss in that level. It would've work so well
This looks like a high quality rom-hack, but a fairly weird one too. For example, why did the whip change from the chain to the rope in the middle of the boss fight at 5:47 ?
Edit: also, good God; this is very much a kaizo hack, isn't it? The stuff I'm seeing here is absolutely ruthless.
The hack does get intense difficulty wise. Still there is cheese to be found. Like at the ending a secret lady is shown to give you some tools or in the manual you find a konami-code that helps you skip level that get on your nerve. Sure it is still one of this get good or die hacks so.. you need to get good at the whip tricks that are shown in the tutorial section what is not everyone's beer. My next project is aimed to be more approachable by anyone.

This hack looks overall MUCH harder, with no (sometimes) helpful slowdown, I noticed it in the part with the two dragonhead bosses. The slowdown during this bossfight in the original is immense.

LOL! That's so cool how you can ride in a coffin and throw daggers at enemies! Kind of like a classic side-scrolling shooter! Also, I like how they incorporated Dracula's demon form as the final form you fight him in. That's a nice touch considering Dracula doesn't assume his demon form in the original CV4.

Pretty cool. Dunno if it's in FastROM or using and emulator to remove any potential slowdown or whatever, but it's also running really nicely too.
The hack has fastROM included but it will not get rid of any slowdown. I think one of the week point of this game is that it does not use a cue system for sprites. So the hole OAM table is drawn from scratch each frame what is problematic once to many sprites are used.
@@bogaagames2706 My point here, as I recall, was that there wasn't any really noticeable slowdown that I noticed, hence why I wasn't sure if it was because it was running in FastROM or in an emulator or whatever. Point being, I think, it was running very nicely for the most part.
@@inceptional yes I just liked to inform that it does use fastROM. And some info on what I think the weak point is of this game.
When you play on emulator you could also check out overclock settings to get rid of all the lag.
@@bogaagames2706 Yeah, you could turn on a bunch of features in an emulator to improve things even further and ensure a rock solid 60fps and zero sprite flicker at any time and so on, which is nice. Although, to be honest, I'm not really seeing anything here that would suggest you'd really need to worry about that. And that's cool to see that just the jump to FastROM really makes a nice difference in the general fluidity of the game. I haven't watched and analysed literally the entire video frame by frame though, so there might be some times where there's more slowdown than I'm noticing. But the game looks to be running very nicely from what I'm seeing, and certainly at a level where there's no detriment to the gameplay and such if there are any minor moments of lost frames, so all good. Also, if you're right about the OAM cue system, I think some additional optimization there would be great too and would make it run even better, so that's great for any potential future tweaks.
