His story is a tragic one, a child abused to squeeze every ounce of potential, but ultimately what you guys didn’t really cover is that his story ends with redemption, and only then did he completely fulfill that said potential. This was a boy, a son of two Jedi Masters, taken in by Vader and trained his whole life to be a living weapon for the main purpose of killing the Emperor. Vader on the other hand, deep down took him in as a replacement for the child(ren) he thought he lost for the purpose of vengeance and power. He was creating a dark version of Luke for all intents and purposes, and succeeded in maximizing his potential when he as Anakin didn’t even reach half of his potential according to George Lucas and supported in both Canon and EU/Legends material. Meanwhile, Luke at his prime was far beyond Yoda and Sidious (2x as powerful according to Lucas), and had his own great feats. Vader did not care about the inquisitors, he cared about galen. That’s why he would’ve never cut off a limb and gave him the most brutal training in his mind Galen was his only hope at ever being a true sith master and taking out palps
Id love to see a live action films of Star Wars witth Kenu Reeves playing Revan in the past during The Old Republic Era, and Galen/Starkiller of course played by his OG actor Sam, in the Middle Skywalker Era(OG movies). Maybe have the actors also tell a shared story of the soul of Revan and its incarnations over generations. I think that would be dope.
Starkiller, at a first glance, can seem overpowered (and in a sense, he is). But because of the way he was raised and trained, he lacks the patience of the Jedi, or the cunning of a Sith. He is an animal, a wild animal. He struggles with finesse and subtlety, and by extension Force powers that require finesse and subtlety. He can pull a Star Destroyer to the ground, but he struggles to assemble a lightsaber telekinetically. He can disintegrate his foes in an instant, but lacks the self control to draw out a person’s pain the way Sidious did with Luke. He is the spirit of a rancor, in the body of a man, with the powers of a god.
Starkiller is a walking hypernova capable of wiping out basically anything and anyone with only a handful of things or people being capable of stopping him or even slowing him in any significant way. Easily one of my favorite characters in any form of media, book or game. He’s in my top 10.
@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 I am well aware of those more powerful. I was referring to those that exist in his timeline being capable of slowing or stopping him. Vitiate would disintegrate him in under a second. Abeloth would turn him into finger-paint.
I used to be angry he was only trained as a sith assassin but let’s be honest with ourselves if he was trained under proper rule of two tutelage star killer would have been to much to control
His gift of being a great force user, to the point where his force Lightning out matching even Sidious. Remember Vaders two weakness is lighting, and his Family. “Starkiller” gifted with rare lightning ability’s. That’s why he can beat Vader. A young Dooku could probably beat Vader if he got the upper hand. I love Vader, but the man has two very big weaknesses. What makes him feel like a human character, not a robot.
@@GoronMerchantI think he’s asking if his suit impairs his mobility compared to other duelists. As in, he always seems to be walking / moving slowly as opposed to characters like starkiller and such
He was trained in adaptive survival nature. In the spot thinking on do or die situations. It turned his style style into an adaptive hyper critical thinking down to milliseconds that dictacted death or survival. There's no better teacher for combat. There is no try, their is survival or death.
I find it fascinating how close both maul and star killers upbringings are, both were children with untold force potential from their heritage, that were taken by the sith( a rare happen stance along the sith) and trained in secret but not given the full sith treatments. Both are weapons, ones the silent dagger and the other the bomb. Who knows how far they would go if their upbringing was even slightly different.
I always liked starkiller being a dark side equivalent to Asoka and anikin/vader as the farther in a sort of teacher way I think it all makes sense and is thematically relevant but they exist in different canon so it can’t really happen now
Starkiller sounds utterly unaware of anything beyond his prison? Does he know when not to fight? Can he read? Can he understand how to find food? Social skills might sound underrated, but they get us from here to there. Was he merely going to be caged until he was facing Palpatine? Would he just be like the Hulk if let out?
Nope Anakin would have been extremely more powerful then starkiller Luke is everything Anakin would have been Starkiller is probably on par if not slightly stronger then sidious
Starkiller is amazing! So powerful, amazing Force powers, amazing lightsaber skills. Just great! It's supprising Proxy was programmed to kill Galen when they fought. Didn't know that. They seemed friendly. I agree,Obi-Wan allowed Vader to develop his lightsaber technique. And it worked perfectly. Vader later used that against the Jedi. Galen was not Sith Lord. He had such a sad life. Glad he found happiness with that girl. He was powerful than the Emperor,no doubt. He was beyond him. Imagine that. He was close to Skywalker. Great analysis. May the Force be with you too
Thought I'd comment again to say, could you guys imagine a new force unleashed game made by Santa Monica studios just like how they make the god of war games except balancing it so where you still feel incredibly powerful but there's still danger and difficulty in the game that would probably be one of my favorite if not my favorite game of all time if ever created
Part of the lore suggests that Starkiller was close to becoming more powerful than Palpatine, but I don't know whether or not that is true. What I do know in the lore is that Starkiller was the only one who genuinely scared Palpatine.
@OublietteTight Starkiller of course. His style of combat is unconventional and unpredictable. It's one of the reasons he scared Palpatine as much as he did. Like many Sith, Palpatine had his own set fighting style even though he hated using lightsabers, but Starkiller didn't have a set style of fighting with lightsabers, so he resorted to whatever he could to win. In TFU, since we play as Starkiller, it's easy to see since though he loses his life after defeating Palpatine, the look on Palpatine's face when looking at his corpse before looking at Vader says it all.
I love this video I thought star killer was cool but I’ve never thought about what made him the way he is. You guys and Sam really opened my mind to it. It’s a shame what Disney has done I almost don’t want to see him on the big screen another game would be great tho
I so love that Galen Marek image is based on Sam Witwer. He is also a HUGH SW fan, as the Game 'unleased' hired him for that role. So very cool! How interesting would be Vader apprecience meeting General Skyjackers apprentice ?(Ashoka)
I could listen to these discussions all day, you guys are awesome! Also as an idea for a follow up discussion, could Vader & Starkiller succeed in overthrowing Palps? And how would it go 🤔
I'm happy you pointed this out because when you name-drop Anakin as being less than Galen Marik, many will take offence... He's underrated tbh, cos Galen/starkiller is so powerful that when disfigured by Sidious and he transitioned full to the dark side, his presence in the force was crazy... Galen is the only one that can absorb Sidious force lightning in fact he went toe to toe with Sidious on force lightning duels. Even as a baby when Darth Vader raided the land, he sense such powerful force, that even vader felt insecure about the force, when he saw that its a baby that's harboring all this force energy, Darth Vader was shocked 😳😳😳
one thing i think many probably don't consider it because of force unleashed having so many displays of over the top power it would probably act as a buff for many characters especially the ones confirmed to at least on a similar level as starkiller or above from other media that aren't covered in force unleashed version of the setting
At the end of the campaign for the first game, if you choose to kill Darth Vader, the Emperor will do his typical machine slave thing. But what stood out to me about some of the final lines spoken in the game is by Palpatine. "You had such promise. You could have been my successor. My equal. But now... (Looks away.) But I may have some small use for you. I still have enemies to find and destroy. You will do my bidding until I find a new apprentice. And then, like Vader, you will be cast aside. (Points toward Starkiller and the droids.) Finish him." The fact that the strongest Sith we've seen since Tenebrae (also known as the Immortal Sith Emperor Vitiate and Valkorian.) openly admits to this should speak volumes about what Galen Marak could've been. However, as always, one's potential is only known after the fact or passage of time. It's a measure of what could've been, never what will be. There is some comfort in that, especially in real life.
Exactly. I dare Starkiller to go up against DE Sidious, Valkorion, Grandmaster Luke (Legends), The Bedlom Spirits, and etc. Starkiller would get smoked
@@bazplayzyt6207 DE Sidious is 10 times stronger than the sidious that Starkiller fought. Legends Luke would destroy Starkiller in seconds. Luke has way too much experience to even consider Starkiller a threat.
@@NaturallyMine-gq9uk bro iI get furious when people bring in legends Luke and DE sidious into things. Valkorian is technically not legend s cuz Star wars simply hasn't figured out a way to put him into the timeline but legends Luke belongs to a whole different verse lol. We never see him live action starkiller is legends but we see him in live action.
I think it was a mistake to train him to be an animal, everyone who ever tried to overpower palpatine lost and lost quickly. Stamina is his weakness, and impenetrable defense. Palpatine tries to use the force rather than his lightsaber so if youre able to use it defenseively than you put him on his heels and make him angry for having to use his lightsaber.
I think the real reasons why Starkiller was so powerful was combination of his Jedi heritage, Darth Vader’s training and perhaps the truest reason it was the Force’s plan “D” for balance. Traya was did small piece of points about the Force it does act like a “god” but one that lets mortals play their roles too in it designs as the one it wants them play.
Itd be great if you could Sam Witwer on one of these..(the actor who played SK and voiced dozens of characters on Clone Wars including Maul).. i coukd listen to that podcast all day lol
I always thought he was just born as a force prodigy tbh, somewhat like Palpatine in a way. I actually have my own character that explores this concept since he is a prodigy with the dark side of the force, but not nearly as proficient with force lightning or anything else directly offensive, since he specializes more in force speed and I guess shatterpoint.
Dude Mace Windu's brother from Korun his name is Kar Vastor, he's a super powerful hulking monster that he almost destroyed Mace Windu until Mace uses Shatterpoint, it's in the book with the same name Shatterpoint
This character is fascinating! I wish they make it to cinematic. It’s an amazing story. Given other circumstances, the characters development would’ve been far superior. But that’s the beauty of the tragic, that it wasn’t. It’s a very relatable, character and story. Full of power and grade scenes.
He didn't even reach his full potential because of the lack of sith and jedi training fundamentals also lack of knowledge of the force imagine him with the telos holocrom to study
What makes star killer even much more powerful and stronger than Palpatine and vader is that he was born of two Jedi, his second only two Anakin Skywalker, who was conceived and created by the force itself through his mother’s womb via midichlorians
Starkiller has never been stronger than any version of Palpatine, canon or Legends. The canon version of Palpatine was pretty much the only character Starkiller COULDN'T beat, and we all know how Sidious' EU version is infinitely stronger than his canon self. Also, while Starkiller beat Vader, he wasn't born more powerful than Vader, nor was he stronger. That's like saying Obi-Wan is somehow stronger than Vader because he beat him. A lot of Vader's losses had other factors playing in, that aren't present in other characters' battles. You could make an argument that Starkiller was more powerful than Vader reached after being limited on Mustafar, but you definitely have no argument that Starkiller is even remotely near Palpatine's strength.
I would love to see the raw, unrefined power of starkiller go toe to toe with the calm, composed and precise cal cestis lol. Starkiller's light side counterpart and cals dark side counterpart.
@alsimmonshellspawn6021 no doubt. I absolutely agree. But, since force unleashed will likely never be ported to canon, cal is the best experience we are gonna get. Cal has the patience and clarity starkiller never had. Galen has the raw, unmatched rage and power tha cal lacks.
In my opinion Galen was a Sith Juggernaut. He wasn't built like a tank but he sure as shit was able to tap into the dark side like the Juggernaut could. He's a hybrid of the Juggernaut and the Marauder. Neither class was known for their subtle nature.
I see Darth Vader’s training of Starkiller to be an extreme version of the training he thinks he should have received as a Jedi. Not as brutal obviously, but he always claimed the Jedi, specifically Obi-Wan was always holding him back, never letting him reach his full potential. And when he finally learns of a way to do that, by embracing the dark side and so the Force in its entirety, Obi-Wan puts a stop to him reaching his full potential again. He views Starkiller not only as the son he lost when Padme died, but the person he himself should have become: a being of pure unmatched power, because that is all he has ever truly desired, to be the most powerful Jedi ever. I would place full potential Galen Marek to be at least on par with A tier Jedi Council members, not quite S tier like Luke Skywalker. So probably at or around the same level as somebody like Mace Windu.
Starkiller was essentially a force battering ram. Vader had the intent of using him to try to overwhelm the Emperor. Of course he was just a tool. Vader didn't expect him to kill the Emperor just weaken him or draw his focus so Vader could deal the final blow.
Important to note the time frame difference with maul and killer. Maul was trained when the Sith were still hiding in the shadows. Secrecy was paramount. Killer was part of the Sith galactic empire. Secrecy was not so important. Enforcement was
Honestly Starkiller is so op that he would have most likely eliminated Obi-Wan should they ever have been encountered. Same for Cal, he could have stood blade for blade but again I doubt he'd win, maybe survive at best. We will never know but Starkiller would have given any Jedi Master pause and perhaps strike fear at the sheer power he would demonstrate head on or easily manipulate the force around him. Shame we can't ever see him live action...
I would think Galen Marek would probably be about the same as full power Vader, which would put him under Yoda and Palpatine. He is basically a howitzer missle with force powers.
I have a question for everyone, including Stupendous. If I remember correctly it had been said that to manifest force lightening one must first be struck with it. Now I know there are certain characters that had been born with a natural ability as such but in the case of star killer how exactly would Vader had accomplished that during his training of Galen Merrick. Also I remember Vader was capable of producing lightening and had on certain situations, but with out frying his suit I can’t see Vader doing this. Thanks in advance to any replies!! 😎👍
Heyo! So the Force Unleashed released in 2008, 4 years before the Darth Plagues novel (2012) was written to make that tidbit about Lightning a fact in legends continuity! That’s the out-of-universe reason at least.
I would think it's how he fights and uses the force. Not so much the power put into it. He's a very..... unconventional force user. Wild, maybe. The same could be said about his actual lightsaber fighting style. The two combined is a recipe for an uncontrolled powerhouse in combat. He was taught to always do the max possible when using the force. Roll this all together, and you get a super powered monster.
Maul: No bodies for the guards to find.
Starkiller: No guards to find the bodies
Awesome!
Darth Vader: Won't tell me where the rebels are? 'Fire the weapon' Deathstar destroys her planet.

I remember reading that Starkiller's mother was killed protecting some Wookiees from Trandoshan slavers. Hence, why Kento raised him alone.
Plus, I believe Kota's training and combat experience, mixed with his newfound love for Juno, helped draw Galen into the light.

His obsession with clapping Juno's cheeks.
The internet calls him a Gary Stu, but he’s not even close. He’s just a rechargeable explosive.
Always lovely to hear The Archivist! You really lucked out there🎉
did anyone else hear that moan at 3:03? kinda scared me ngl.
Probably some accidental overlay lol
lmfao! 😂😂😂😂 i didnt hear it until this commnet!
its the second person speaking with him a minute later 😂
Starkiller was trained by drip vader and never learned how to old back during combat always using his full power
Makes sense given he was trained effectively to just be a weapon
Basically the Broly of Star Wars
Starkiller is to good for today’s Star Wars
Disney will find some way to make starkiller lame
Too*
@spaceman9396 bruh...
Starkiller is a walking hypernova capable of wiping out basically anything and anyone with only a handful of things or people being capable of stopping him or even slowing him in any significant way.
Easily one of my favorite characters in any form of media, book or game. He’s in my top 10.
Ancient sith lords were even more powerful luke anakin solo Jaina Jacen exar kun vitiate were more powerful
@@alsimmonshellspawn6021
I am well aware of those more powerful. I was referring to those that exist in his timeline being capable of slowing or stopping him.
Vitiate would disintegrate him in under a second. Abeloth would turn him into finger-paint.
Short answer : Because he's a video game character, it's gotta be fun
I used to be angry he was only trained as a sith assassin but let’s be honest with ourselves if he was trained under proper rule of two tutelage star killer would have been to much to control
my absolute favorite character love seeing content about him thank you for this
I get so excited for these videos it’s always a good time 😁😁😁
His gift of being a great force user, to the point where his force Lightning out matching even Sidious.
Learning here. His suit too? Could he maneuver enough?
@@OublietteTightwhat you mean? I’m totally up to answering your question.
@@GoronMerchantI think he’s asking if his suit impairs his mobility compared to other duelists. As in, he always seems to be walking / moving slowly as opposed to characters like starkiller and such
💯 correct analysis. I always thought of Starkiller as the Anakin we should’ve got.
He was trained in adaptive survival nature. In the spot thinking on do or die situations. It turned his style style into an adaptive hyper critical thinking down to milliseconds that dictacted death or survival. There's no better teacher for combat. There is no try, their is survival or death.
Why Starkiller is so powerful:
He’s him. That’s it. That’s the video 😌🙏🏾
Galen was basically a hammer that Vader used
I always liked starkiller being a dark side equivalent to Asoka and anikin/vader as the farther in a sort of teacher way I think it all makes sense and is thematically relevant but they exist in different canon so it can’t really happen now
Great videos guys. Starkiller is a fascinating character and I enjoyed your take on him. Wish he was cannon.
I love when you do these deep dives
Starkiller sounds utterly unaware of anything beyond his prison? Does he know when not to fight? Can he read? Can he understand how to find food? Social skills might sound underrated, but they get us from here to there. Was he merely going to be caged until he was facing Palpatine? Would he just be like the Hulk if let out?
p.s.I am learning that there is a lot I have yet to view.
Ive always said that Starkiller is what Anakin would have became if he didn’t burn
Galen is a Sith Marauder and Sith Assassin combination.
Grandmaster Luke , Emperor Palpatine, Valkorian
Part of the lore suggests that Starkiller was close to becoming more powerful than Palpatine, but I don't know whether or not that is true. What I do know in the lore is that Starkiller was the only one who genuinely scared Palpatine.
Which one would fight dirtier?
@OublietteTight Starkiller of course. His style of combat is unconventional and unpredictable. It's one of the reasons he scared Palpatine as much as he did. Like many Sith, Palpatine had his own set fighting style even though he hated using lightsabers, but Starkiller didn't have a set style of fighting with lightsabers, so he resorted to whatever he could to win. In TFU, since we play as Starkiller, it's easy to see since though he loses his life after defeating Palpatine, the look on Palpatine's face when looking at his corpse before looking at Vader says it all.
When you're trapped with no way out you'll stare through any window no matter the circumstances
I love this video I thought star killer was cool but I’ve never thought about what made him the way he is. You guys and Sam really opened my mind to it. It’s a shame what Disney has done I almost don’t want to see him on the big screen another game would be great tho
I appreciate you bro!
And how would it go 🤔
Haha, we're finally going to discuss the Gorog! Both of those games are beautiful and fun to play.
Good to hear you use your regular voice
Starkiller is always going to be one of my favorite Star Wars characters EVER
one thing i think many probably don't consider it because of force unleashed having so many displays of over the top power it would probably act as a buff for many characters especially the ones confirmed to at least on a similar level as starkiller or above from other media that aren't covered in force unleashed version of the setting
(Points toward Starkiller and the droids.) Finish him."
The fact that the strongest Sith we've seen since Tenebrae (also known as the Immortal Sith Emperor Vitiate and Valkorian.) openly admits to this should speak volumes about what Galen Marak could've been. However, as always, one's potential is only known after the fact or passage of time. It's a measure of what could've been, never what will be.
There is some comfort in that, especially in real life.
What I've always found impressive about Marek was how he could use dark side abilities like lightning without being pulled to the dark side.
I love how everyone calls Starkiller the strongest force user, but yet he would get demolished by other stronger force users in the lore.
Exactly. I dare Starkiller to go up against DE Sidious, Valkorion, Grandmaster Luke (Legends), The Bedlom Spirits, and etc. Starkiller would get smoked
@@NaturallyMine-gq9ukBro only valkorian would shit on him the others would beat him but with high dif
@@bazplayzyt6207 I hate to break it to you man but Valkorion is a part of legends. He's apart of the old republic era lol
Plus, I think after he was done growing, that way, he could find a new master to train him in those more subtle things
Then it’s how Starkiller decided to train and inflict upon himself and that Darth Vader was willing to train him
Dude
Mace Windu's brother from Korun his name is Kar Vastor, he's a super powerful hulking monster that he almost destroyed Mace Windu until Mace uses Shatterpoint, it's in the book with the same name Shatterpoint
Any and everything about starkiller is ALWAYS welcome
Explaining Star Wars to Star Wars Explained... love it lol
He had pure rage not enough knowledge to truly hate since it was the only way he knew how to use the force,
It would be so awesome if he had a child with Anakin’s first apprentice, that child would be very powerful in the force
This character is fascinating! I wish they make it to cinematic. It’s an amazing story. Given other circumstances, the characters development would’ve been far superior. But that’s the beauty of the tragic, that it wasn’t. It’s a very relatable, character and story. Full of power and grade scenes.
It’s also another horrible story line of Vader.
Always love Galen/Starkiller he’s the one that got me into the Star Wars games to me he’s the Guts/Kratos of Star Wars.
I like that Starkiller actually had a lot of points to backup why he is so powerful which makes him more believable and cooler
I agree, he’s obviously amped for the games, but he’s pretty insane in the comics and books too.
He didn't even reach his full potential because of the lack of sith and jedi training fundamentals also lack of knowledge of the force imagine him with the telos holocrom to study
Starkiller and Revan, the two best and most interesting characters in all of Star Wars, canon, lore, legends, all of it.
Stupendous, What Direction Would You take Force Unleash 3?
If it were a Thing?
Forms 1, Ataru. 3, Soresu. And 7, Juyo. Given it all put together. Speed, defense, and ferocity made him thee most strongest duelist of that age
Ok I'm locked in...anakin / vader is a diabolical teacher hands down
for the next discussion can you do an in depth look into the rivalry of anakin and dooku
Most of the time the sith don’t get to train someone from early childhood like the Jedi do so star killer is a rare case indeed
@@JadusMoltriel he did beat him once he did
I would love to see the raw, unrefined power of starkiller go toe to toe with the calm, composed and precise cal cestis lol. Starkiller's light side counterpart and cals dark side counterpart.
Galen beat him easy
Hello everyone, Where can I find this comic book?
I'm surprised you haven't done a video on THE Kyle Katarn yet.
Starkiller was essentially a force battering ram. Vader had the intent of using him to try to overwhelm the Emperor. Of course he was just a tool. Vader didn't expect him to kill the Emperor just weaken him or draw his focus so Vader could deal the final blow.
That's why he was the perfect game character.
Important to note the time frame difference with maul and killer. Maul was trained when the Sith were still hiding in the shadows. Secrecy was paramount. Killer was part of the Sith galactic empire. Secrecy was not so important. Enforcement was
Can you do comparison of Flint, Starkiller and Lumiya against all Emperor's Hands
Love starkiller we will never get a film or series with him shame at 17 he's so powerful could have been the greatest
I wonder if that Kyber Crystal would end up being the light side, one being orange, yellow, purple or white
Chad-Lord Galen Marek
he even invented a force ability.
What ability did Galen create?
@@davidtaylor7991 Sith Seeker. i believe it was his lightning dash ability in game?
He's got the edge lord thing going. Fed by popularity of the Star wars fan.
I see Galen, I CLICK!
