SOLDERING SILVER CLAY TO STERLING SILVER

- Ignore the myth that it’s difficult to solder sterling silver to fine silver clay, give it a try! This video does not show how to make the bird house and twig, it’s merely showing how to solder the pieces together.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your lovely comment xxx
Very nice tutorial and a lovely piece. Thank you.
Thank you so much xx
Thank you so much ❤️. You have given me confidence to try it myself. Your bird house and twig are gorgeous. 😊
Thank you Mam for teaching an old dog new tricks, or in your case "new ideas"
Thank you for this. What a lovely work of art you created!
Thank you so much x
This is so beautiful ❤ and thank you for such a human adorable video. Please do show us more pieces and ways to work with silver clay components or pieces and mix it with sterling silver bits or bezels. It is so great to see that the silver clay does not melt when firing it for soldering during more than three minutes. I thought it would melt. 😅❤ Your necklace looks astonishing ❤
It’s beautiful ❤
Thanks so much x
Love it so much ...Thank you for the soldering tip 👍💍
Thank you very much x
Amazing work really great advice thank you very much😎
My pleasure! So glad it was helpful x
This is so pretty 😍 thank you so much I was wondering whether the clay silver would work well with sterling or not. This answered my doubt ❤ thank you 🌷
Very cute well done and thank you so much 👍
Thank you so much for your lovely moment xx
I forgot to ask you a year ago did you use a kiln? Or did you torch fire?
I would love to hear back from you
🤗Michelle
Hi thanks so much for watching. I used a torch for firing as I don’t have a kiln Xxx
Hello, I really enjoyed this video, what a lovely tutor you are, Can I ask, when you put the Platinol on do you do anything to it after..?... I mean do you need to wipe some of it off, only asking because when you applied the platinol it all looked dark and at the end of the video it was shiny.. did you wipe off or polish it a bit..?
Hi there 🙂 thank you so much for your lovely comments. Yes you can polish up your piece after using the Platinol, which is what I did. You can even put pieces, which have Platinol on them, into a tumbler and you do get a polished finish but it does leave the black on there. Hope this helps xx
It’s beautiful
Thank you so much. I’m really grateful for your support xx
Thank you very much for this video. I have been wondering if I could solder jump rings to metal clay after firing. I am new to metal clay and I’m trying to avoid as much waste and accidents as possible.
Thank you so much, I really hope that this helped you. I would love to see what you make x
@@LivonDesignsSilversmithing when I do make my first piece I would love to show you, where would I be able to post it or send the picture to you ?
That would be fabulous! My email is - livondesigns@hotmail.com. Are you a member of any metal clay FB pages? There are lots of friendly and informative groups. Hope that helps 💓 xxxx
Nice job
Thank you so much for your support x
Beautiful piece! Please may I ask how you prevent the solder from being sucked & absorbed into the porous silver clay? I find this happens with earring posts. Thank you so much :)
Thank you so much. I have to admit that I don’t know the answer to your question as I’ve never had the problem, although I know many people have. I can only assume that it’s because I take the torch away immediately the solder flows. I’m really sorry that o can’t be more specific x
@@LivonDesignsSilversmithing many thanks, that sounds like a very feasible possibility, I will certainly aim for quick precision ;) 🤞
Burnish the metal clay where you want to solder. That will prevent the solder from wicking into the metal clay.
Thank you very much 😊
Where do you get your silver clay and how much did you use for the bird house which is sweet bye the way
Hi Sara, I got my silver clay from www.metalclay.co.uk/art-clay-silver-10gm/ and I used approx 13 gms. Hope this helps 😁. Thank you so much for your support on my channel. X
Beautiful 🌹
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your comment. Thank you so much for watching x
