UNBOXING WAX BUILDING KIT
Переглядів 1183 місяці тому
I’ve been admiring lots of pieces of jewellery made with the wax building technique. I decided to delve in by purchasing a small soldering station which I intend to use instead of a wax pen. I also purchased a multi ring mandrel to use for building the wax. I purchased the soldering station from www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254820730766?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=YRTmJau9QrW&sssrc=442...

FROM WAX RING TO STERLING SILVER RING
I love this work !
Thank you! I’m very grateful for your support and I’m really glad you like it.
Did you.need to apply any flux onto the join on ring before fusing at all? Just wondering .😊🤔
Melt it again when the bezel messes up 😅❤
This is what I define as beautiful and ‘unique’. IMO Casting is generally a wait and see process. You never ‘really’ know what you will attain until after casting. Until you’ve cleaned your cast, polished and finished it, the piece doesn’t show its beauty. Whereas with a soldered piece, its beauty is fairly evident up front. Two different ways of achieving a beautiful jewelry. I prefer the cast method and this is a perfect example of raw beauty.
Wow, thank you!
I always enjoy watching you making beautiful jewelry 🤗Michelle
I always enjoy watching you making beautiful jewelry 🤗Michelle
I love your method! You make knotting so much easier and very relaxing.
think it looks really nice with the hole 😮
I love your technique! I wear my grandmother's pearls so much that they finally broke. What gauge French wire are you using with No. 1 silk cord?
Thank you really enjoyed your tutorial today
Thank you for this video, it’s my first time doing this so a little nervous 😂. Can I ask did you make the turn table that you’re using, I think that’s brilliant. If so how did you make it? Thank you ☺️
I absolutely love your videos, I am completely self taught and you inspire me
Wow, thank you! You’re very kind and I couldn’t be more pleased that you’re inspired by my videos. Thanks so much for watching x
Thank you so much for this! it's so important to document all of this knowledge.
@LivonDesignsSilversmithing where do you send this to get hallmarked?
Thank you for your kind words.
I send mine to the London Assay Office.
Your commentary mentioning those who enjoy repetition was particularly appealing, I am one of those people and it didn't occur to me that this would be "one of these things" that we like, thank you for adding that. This is the way I will try, thank you very much.
Thanks so much. I hope you enjoy knotting your pearls as much as I do x
Interested to see you use the soldering iron. Is the idea that you can do finer work that using the wax pen t u were using. Does it have the touch sensitive on/off thing on the handle? So cheap and so small!
Hi no it doesn’t have the touch sensitive on/off that’s a more expensive item. Pepe tools produce one I believe. I’m actually not sure what to expect to be honest - that’s the exciting bit 🙂.
Do you wear a respirator or anything?
Have you seen these? ua-cam.com/video/4qvVLpC7Mno/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/YjeaYjQlM8A/v-deo.html The genuine Marathon 3 micromotor doesn't have bt before Marathon in the name. HTH.
Does it have a hammer action to use bits for stone setting? Thanks
I believe you can get the compatible attachment but I don’t have one.
@@LivonDesignsSilversmithing Thanks... do you have a website where I can get one?
@@s.ursino7201 you could take a look at this one but please make your own enquiries and do your own research as I have never used it and therefore cannot recommend. www.cousinsuk.com/product/hammer-action-handpiece?code=M64119
@@LivonDesignsSilversmithing thank you so much!!!
What happened? Is there an update?
😂
I love so many of those pieces especially the more organic pieces. Can I ask what the cat/face is on your hall marking? What does it symbolise? I also love fiddling with bead weaving. So satisfying.
Love it! Gonna have a go at making something like that. That cone looks so useful!
So cool! I did t know they had prize draws. How do you enter?
Thanks for sharing, beautiful this is new to me I will definitely try it and let you know. Thanks again for sharing….
Such a perfect tutorial! Thank you very much! I enjoyed it.
👎👍🙏🙏
Very good tips nd video 👌 but let me know for 16" or17" necklace how much thread to take right side nd how much leave on left side. U explained but I couldn't understand , totally how many inches thread should take, i am sorry, i wached ur video too lately ,but I feel happy when I watch that without tools thank you so much, 🎉🎉🎉 wait for ur reply❤
I am also wondering about length of each side….I have a 24” inch repair to do! Thank you !
I found out the hard way, but you need to unwind the entire spool of griffin silk, knot at the very end, and use the entire spool. that way when you’re done any leftover thread will have the needle still attached!
Hi there This means that only 1 strand of thread goes through the french wire and clasp end? Is that correct? What if the thread is very fine? Will it be strong enough to last for a long time
Hi, yes the French wire is there to protect the silk which is going through the clasp or jump ring.
@@LivonDesignsSilversmithing What I was asking was that it sounds as though there is only 1 thread going through the gimp or wire protector and not two threads. Is that correct? If this is correct, then I asked whether one strand was strong enough to last? Thanks Terry
love your method - thank you
Thank you so much xx
I've just watched JM today when you said that doing a wrapped loop was your nemisis....OH GOSH mine too! 😫But what I want to say is THANKYOU!! Because after you had shown on JM how you do a wrapped loop....I CAN NOW DO THEM TOOOO🤗...WHOOP WHOOP! OH! And after watching one of your recent JM shows I now can pearl knot TOO, THANKS TO YOU!! And Ell and Charlie are right, WE DO NEED AN YVONNE IN OUR LIVES!! YOU ARE THE BEST!! Love Linda xx❤
Wow what a lovely message to come home to! I’m so glad I’ve helped you - isn’t it funny how we can get a complete mental block over some things? It was lovely to meet Charlie yesterday her jewellery was out of this world. Thank you again xxxx
@@LivonDesignsSilversmithing Yes, Trying to do something sometimes just doesn't happen no matter how hard and which way we try to do it, it just takes a certain person to show how it's done and then voila! Success! You have helped me a few times now...THANKYOU!! YOUR jewellery is out of this world!!! Charlie's jewellery is amazing too and she seems to be a lovely lady! Love Linda xxx❤
Thank you for showing this method so clearly. I have been using this method for years with good results, but I have an expensive graduated pearl necklace that broke, and I have butterflies about restringing and reknotting it. Your gentle calm video has helped greatly. I can do this. 💐🫶
Thank you so much for your lovely message - you can do this! Xxxx
Your amazing craftsmanship and your ability to explain the method to that corrugated filigree whiiiiile creating it for your viewers from a line of sight that is not conducive to the jeweler's normal bird's eye view in creating it by very patient hands is near to godliness. I'm truly in awe of the entire process - especially the hands that seem to be imbued with a special ability and knack for working with such delicate and maleable materials. Such Grace is that. ☺️ ... needless to say, I absolutely love your work. So glad you showed up in my feed! 💐🙏🏽🙂💞
She really IS the bees knees!
Thank you so much for your lovely message and for your support xx
Very pretty, thank you.
Thank you too!
Beautiful . Very beautiful ring you made Ma'am, I really think your friend will be very pleased and I very much enjoyed the video and I subscribed and gave a thumbs up and "rang your bell", Bob
Thank you very much
Yvonne, you are SOOOO talented!! Everything you create always comes out beautiful. If I had heated my silver up to that redness I would have ended up with a big blob of melted silver, how do you do it? And even your first sand casting, I think it was the coffee bean, it came out beautiful, I am still trying to get a full piece🥺 I have purchased the zig zag machine and the quilling things too...excited to receive them 😁🤪 THANKYOU SOOOOO MUCH for the video and the new tool ideas....whoop whoop🙌🙌 I have VERY MUCH MISSED your You Tube video's....PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING!!!☺ With love, Linda xx🌷
🤣🤣🤣 Linda you did make me laugh 😹 Thanks so much for your lovely comments and have fun with your new tools. Thanks for watching xxxx
Congratulations 🎈🎊
Thanks so much xx
You are fabulous
🤪
Hi thanks for this, simple tools to make for yourself, but at that price why bother! As an option to shorten the slot, folks could simply twist a bit of, say copper wire into the slot and finish it off buy dropping the end into the slot and cut it off. I would think that spring tension should hold it in place, but it could be removed/changed quickly and easily. Kind regards . . . Andy
Great tip! Thanks for taking the time to watch and to send such a great idea x
Congratulations, couldn’t happen to a nicer person.
Thank you so much that’s so kind of you x
GREAT enjoy :-)
Thank you so much x
What did you get? Some bur lube? Lol! Oh, stamping kit, (foot tapping...), gloves (!) Woo hoo, Ka-ching! Ok, Pliers, getting better. File yes. Ruler .....zzzzz. mallet, yep. 2mm aquamarine, wow!Where's the rolling mill? Books; best things in the box. 😂
Congratulations! Whoop, whoop! Enjoy your sweet horde of well-earned prizes!
Thank you! Will do!
Congratulations! What a fantastic prize!

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Giiiiirl this is all you should doooo. I’ve maid tiaras too and I love your simple technique. Plz make more tiaras I love watching you make them ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!!
A question for you: where do you get the flexible tubes, I can't find them on the internet. Thank you! Great tutorial.
Hi there! Thank you for your kind words. I think you may be referring to the French Wire.
I found the French wire through Amazon; it is the beadalon brand. You cut a piece the size you need. Great video! Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
You can easily make it yourself. Get some thin wire if your choice (0.3mm). Wrap it tightly around a sewing needle to form a coil. Cut it to about 3/4 to 1cm sections.
Would like to see how it works.
Hello! Do you find this has enough torque for stone setting / drilling? I set mainly 1.3mm stones micropave. Thanks!
Amazing! You made this so easy to follow and everything was thoroughly explained! With your help, I was able to string my pearl bracelet on the first attempt! I appreciate you putting this out into the world :) Saved me a lot of money from having a jeweler do it for me! Thank you so much! You are a star!!!
Thank you so much. I’m so pleased you were able to fix your bracelet x
